When basketball is all you know, love takes a back seat. That is until you get a taste of what you've been missing. Love is a powerful drug... sometimes it'll have you overdosing, and ready to give up everything.
Love and basketball are both on the line for San Diego Wave's player, Raheem Williams. All he can hope for is to not drop the ball when it comes to his love life and his career.
Corin and Raheem are risking it all in the name of love. He’s a veteran player for the San Diego Waves who’s secretly dating career driven Corin. If their relationship is revealed, they both have a lot to lose. Corin more so than Raheem because, of her job. He’s grown tired of the secrecy and wants to love his lady publicly but, Corin is not havin’ it. She has too much to lose and she’s not willing to give up her dream job even for the man she loves. These two are at an impasse and things really heat up when their secret is accidentally revealed. I loved this couple. Corin and Raheem take you on a tumultuous will they or won’t they love journey. I’m still not sure how I feel about the ending but, I understand the decision they made.
I have a sweet spot for Sports romance and I enjoyed this one. Raheem and Corin's chemistry was off the chain. Raheem spoke her body's language and was one of the few that allowed her feminine side to stand front and center. They had a hidden romance because the nature of their relationship was forbidden. I usually call bs on those type situations, but in this instance because it was Corin's decision based on her career aspirations I gave them a pass. Black women deserve it all and I'm glad she was able to achieve some of that. I was hoping for a more detailed epilogue, but I look forward to more of them in the future.
Eva Sherie is back! And before I get into this review, I will say I am on the fence about both main characters because I’m “known” to side with the males🙄. Now let’s get into it… This book was not what I was expecting at all. Being a Beta reader, I went into this book blind, but when I say I couldn’t stop gasping as the storyline fell into place, this author knew exactly what she was doing to my mental😒. This was a quick read but no less enjoyable. One thing Eva Sherie is definitely going to give is spicy sex scenes and the way these two got down… goodness! As I said before, I’m on the fence about these two, and I leave it at that (no spoilers). I can say that their relationship was a bit troubling for me to get my mind around, but their personal stories explained so much. One of the highlights for me in this book was reconnecting with past characters and seeing how they’ve progressed. Just as I’m a fan of Shay Davis, I’m also a fan of Eva Sherie, so I hated to see this book end. I am now needing more!!!
Eva Sherie!! Whatever her pen writes, I’m reading or listening!!! I have to be honest, even tho I knew it was a novella, when I got to the end I yelled “THE END??”😂😂😂
A spicy basketball novella was just what I needed. Eva Sherie wrote a story for the grown and sexy. The title ‘Handled’ perfectly describes the story. Corin handles Raheem on the basketball court and in the bedroom.
Their love is forbidden and has to be completely under wraps. However, Raheem is in love and doesn’t waste time letting Corin know that she is his. He explicitly tells Corin that she is more important to the game and I was squealing. Ra was ready to let everything go to have his woman and that was so selfless to mess I think because of his background, Raheem did not want to lose the closest person to him, also. Corin is torn; she’s in a male dominated career. She understands that she could lose everything if things come out. Corin and Raheem are in sync in every aspect. Those love scenes were sexy and Corin is such a vocal heroine. We Stan.
I loved how Eva touches on the disparities between men & women in sports. She shines spotlight on how women in sports have to dress and behave. I loved the flow of the story; it’s short but well written and the characters are everything. Another hit!
*I received an unedited arc copy of this book. All thoughts are mine.
I enjoyed this short. There was more to their relationship than just sneaking and f reaking... I appreciated learning about Raheem's past but it made me extremely emotional. I hope that in the very near future he gets all of his hearts desire. He's a precious and beautiful man. Also LOVED catching up with some of my faves.
This book was a cute basketball novella. I enjoyed the coach play dynamic in this book. I read other books by Eva Sherie and I enjoy her writing. I thought the couple would come out of hiding at the end of the novella however, I still liked this one. I hope this couple gets an update in the next book.
Raheem is Captain and a Vet on the San Diego Waves. Corin is an assistant coach of the waves. They have been seeing each other for a year but have to keep it a secret due to their jobs. An impromptu encounter after a game gets gets the couple caught but the player agrees not to out them. Corin is furious and put a hold on their relationship. Raheem loves Corin deeply and won’t lose her even if that means keeping their relationship a secret for as long as they are both in the league. This one had me irked with Corin because it’s no way I would be anybody’s secret regardless of our jobs but hey Raheem didn’t care because he knew he had her off the court. Loved the female in sports representation and the different dynamic of the coach being a woman(older) and the player being a male(younger).
This story was a fresh take on two powerful and influential individuals with a decision to make that could cost them their relationship. Eva Sherie came with the smoke ready to ignite flames. She gives it to us real, raw and straight with no chaser and the way she has Raheem is in this book slam dunking his 🏀’s in these sexx scenes serving nothing but net has me ready this again🥵
Raheem the handsome veteran player is in love with the gorgeous career driven Corin. Their relationship is on the DL because of their jobs and that leads to some interesting sneaking around. They clearly love each other, their chemistry is fire with some funny moments, but Rah wants more and he’s tired of hiding. One person finds out, Corin can’t handle the ramifications if they went public with their relationship and the suspense flows from there. I love that we revisited past characters and seeing the bond and connections they all shared was so funny.
This story is about so much more than love, it also address sacrifice, trust and what your willing to do for that love. You want sexy…it’s in here, You want drama, it’s in here, You want humor, baby it’s in here, You want to cry, the tears, they’re in here You want supportive friends and family…it’s all in here.
This is a quick read, but also a jam packed story you’ll enjoy and I can’t wait for the next one.
Eva always gives a good time. Great storylines, and equally well written sex scenes! Raheem and Corin definitely pulled me in with their secret love affair! I loved seeing the other two couples make an appearance! But I need more !! I need answers!! I need more Raheem!!
Corin and Raheem were definitely something special! Whew, this was a fun twist on the player-coach relationship. And although I wanted a different ending this still made sense and felt right. A good HFN is good every now and then! I won’t say too much because this is a novella and I don’t want to spoil the plot, BUT the heavy erotic scenes were great!
I enjoyed this read. It was a nice sexy time! I could tell the chemistry between Corin and Raheem was strong, however their relationship was almost Taboo. Dealing with deciding between their relationship or careers they both had a hard choice to make.. I was not expecting the ending but understood why the author decided to go this route. Overall good read!
Corin James is one of eight female coaching staff in the whole NBA. She is currently the assistant coach for the San Diego Waves. Raheem Williams is is a veteran player and team captain for the Waves who is nine years Corin's Junior. Even though the two know each other from work, they connect through an exclusive dating app. The two have been dating for over an year but keeping their relationship a secret and Corin wants to keep it that way. Corin, being a black female fears the backlash and the loss of her job if their relationship ever got out. Raheem is ready to settle down and is willing to do anything to keep Corin, including retiring.
The title says sexy basketball novella, however it started off like erotica. The spice starts from the very first sentence on the very first page. No complaints here just saying. For me the storyline took a backseat to the spice. Also, after all the couple went through to keep the relationship a secret it seems as if they still didn't get their HEA. It was an ok read for me. I liked it but didn't love it.
Raheem is an NBA player and can have anything or anybody he wants, but he has the woman in his life that has made him want to settle down, but there is an issue. Corin is one of many women coaches in the NBA, and is in a relationship, but it has to be a secret. The love that I read between these two was so beautiful and I enjoyed getting to know them and love in each other. Raheem is a woman's dream, he is rich and fine and can put it down(remember opening scene of book), but he is also a gentleman, a protector , will give up his life for the one he loves and will fight for what he wants. Corin is beautiful, head strong and still some what living her dreams, but after realizing she is loved, she let's her guards down a little. This was a great read and I wanted more. I hope to see more if them in the next book!! Eva you did that...
It is a shame that as a woman when in love we have to think about our careers first and foremost. And in Corin’s case she could not take the risk of she and Raheem’s relationship coming out in fear of losing her job, one of 8 coaching positions that women held in the NBA. I also understood where Raheem was coming from. He barely had love coming up and when he professed his love for her she at first was dismissive because she was afraid of their relationship coming out, afraid of what it would do to her career and I felt like she could have talked it over with him. I hated that it ended two years later with him winning a championship and they still were not married and their relationship was still hidden. That just can’t be good for any parties involved.
I love a good sports romance and this novella left me wanting more from this couple. Raheem was all about Corin and wanted to shout it from the rooftops but she was hesitant to allow that to happen because of her job. There seemed to be a lot of compromise happening by Raheem and I would have liked to have seen more coming from Corin and not just loving him in the shadows. I liked Raheem’s character a lot but I’m not completely sure how I feel about Corin. She came off a little selfish, even though I understood her reasoning to some extent. There were a lot of errors in this novella and it looked as if it was not properly edited, but thankfully those errors did not take away from the enjoyment of this story.
I really enjoyed this novella. It was straight to the point. I also enjoyed how the characters developed and I liked that they were still in the secret relationship in the end. It showed a different “happily ever after” and not the typical their love beat all the odds. It made it more realistic.
I did wish there was more back story. What happened to Kennedy? That cliffhanger was kind of frustrating because will that be talked about in another book? I would have also like to hear more about Raheem’s family life. I understand in novella’s they are more straight to the point but I would have loved this if it was a bit longer and explored different things.
Raheem was deep in love with Corin and vice versa but they both had something to lose. They relationship was forbidden. Raheem wanna let the world know but Corin don’t because she’s not willing to put her dream job on the line. As a black woman I get it. My second read by this author and I enjoyed this. Not a sports romance girly but when a book is good I gotta give credit where it’s due. Now my only downside is I feel like they really didn’t get a HEA and the epilogue felt a bit rushed. But overall I recommend.
Raheem and Coach Corin were just ten toes down for each other. Loved the male basketball star and his female coach love story. I appreciated how Raheem especially protected Corin's privacy career from public scrutiny throughout the entirety of their relationship. This was a short, sweet, spicy, basketball novella. Also appreciated that these were more mature characters with a little age gap older woman, younger man.
I love a sports-themed story with a lotta romance. I don't want to give away the plot, but this was a nicely told quick read about a forbidden romance and a sports team. I am not sure how two high-profile professionals would be able to fly under the radar for years. But, anyway, the story was pretty cool.
This was a great sexy short read. I loved the chemistry between Tandem and Corin. It was good to see how they kept their career and private life out of the public eye. Would have loved to see more of them after being able to open up about their relationship and finally be able to settle down.
Raheem and Corin great story and easy read. No drama or trauma just unfair circumstances that forces them to love privately. All he wants to do is love her out load. Their story shows you how to embrace what you have and live your best life with it. Because what you think you're missing is not worth losing what you have.
4.5 ⭐️.. I enjoyed this story. I loved Raheem and Corin together. Raheem wasnt going to lose his lady and I loved that for Corin. I think the ending is more of a happy for now and that’s cool, I guess lol…. Hopefully, we get more of Corin and Raheem because I love them!!! I wanted to see more from them but overall the story was great! They were getting it in! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
