Cleary, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain town—the kind of place where criminal activity is usually limited to parking violations. Not so, lately. Four women have disappeared from Cleary over the past two years. And there’s always a blue ribbon left near the spot where each of the women was last seen. Another great novel by Sandra Brown.
This book combines two elements that I love: trapped-in-a-blizzard romance and a small town mystery.
Love, love cabin romances.
There’s something magical about them. On the one hand, they give me that cozy feeling of being indoors cuddled under the duvet while it snows outside. On the other hand, I love the tension and the slow build-up of the romantic relationship in a confined space (without technology, ow/om drama, manwhoring habits and other clichéd stuff).
Although, there is nothing cozy or warm about this cabin romance.
Small towns are perfect settings for thrillers.
Who doesn't like small town mysteries with its variety of quirky, zany characters and their dirty little secrets, illicit love affairs and town gossips that live in everyone else's business?
This book is definitely a page-turner. It's full of intrigue and it makes you questioning everything and everybody. Sandra Brown once again proved herself as a talented, page turning author.
My only complaint is the romantic aspect of the story. The book is more focused on suspense than romance and I was okay with that. However, the romantic side of the story was kind of weak. I never connected with the main characters. In fact, I liked the side characters better and enjoyed their stories more than the main characters and their story.

The audible was excellent. The Narrator did a great job with all the different characters. Eventhough I read the book a while back, I couldn't really remember the bad guy! LOL.

Really liked this one. Had me on the edge of my seat! I was guessing and second guessing everybody.
I won’t say too much about the story but I was gripped by it straight away. I didn’t lose interest once in the book. My imagination was running wild, wondering what the outcome would be.
I knew who I wanted the good guy to be … but 96% in and she still had me wondering.
It had a mixture of small town characters. Some were likeable. Some were not.
There was the sheriff, who thought he could do what he wanted.
The High School coach who was a bully.
I am so glad I discovered this author. Now, what to read next?

It had a mixture of small town characters. Some were likeable. Some were not.
There was the sheriff, who thought he could do what he wanted.

On their backs, nowhere close to touching, they stared at the ceiling.
The firelight cast dancing shadows across the exposed beams ...
She had desired him ...
He had two distinct advantages.
His innate sense of direction.
And his will to live ...
I am so glad I discovered this author. Now, what to read next?

4.5 I was so confused stars....
Sandra Browns writing never fails to lure me into the story. With equal doses of suspense and mystery she also has the ability to weave in a certain level of sex appeal in way that creates anticipation and when the moments happen….
Let me start by saying this one drove me a little batty. It was fantastic of course but for the first 60% or so my thoughts were spinning in so many different directions that I my little brain was about to explode.
Where to begin with this one?
The setting for Chill Factor is a little town called Cleary. It’s that kind of town where everyone knows everyone else’s business. Things are a bit unsettled in Cleary because 5 women have gone missing with no suspect at hand and the only apparent common connection is a blue ribbon found at each location the woman were last seen.
Though a threatening storm is approaching Lilly Martin and her ex-husband Dutch Burton head to their winter cabin to remove all their belonging since there will be new owners moving in soon. Their time spent together is tense if nothing else. Things have happened within their lives that has left their relationship strained and broken. Lilly is ready to move on but Dutch, well he hates the thought of not having Lilly in his life.
As they leave separately to head back down the mountain, things are about to change for both of them. While Dutch makes his way down the mountain through the storm, Lilly isn’t so lucky. Without warning she loses control of her car never expecting to hit a man who is out in the storm. With no other choice they return to her cabin for safety.
What is surprising to Lilly is she knows this man. It is Ben Tierney. Though their meeting was back in the summer, it was a meeting that neither has forgotten. They had an undeniable attraction then and now that they are confined together who knows what will happen.
Tierney isn’t a local though. His visits to town have been because of the column he writes for a outdoorsmen magazine. Or so it appears. When distressing information surfaces, and Lilly doesn’t make it down the mountain, the already present tension in town heightens.
Feeling trapped Lilly doesn’t know what or who to believe. And because neither Ben or herself has a connection with anyone from town they are left with only their thoughts and desire to get off the mountain.
And then it happens.
In true SB form, the last 30% of the book kicked ass!!! With my heading spinning like crazy trying to figure out the connections, trying to get my answers to all my “what the hell moments”, shit starts to happen. From seeing Dutch in true form, to the locals; William Ritt, Marilee Ritt, Wes Hamer and Scott Hamer, I found myself picking my jaw off the floor more than once. I cannot even begin to tell you what goes on.
Tierney and Lilly are surviving by a thread. Both are on edge for their own reasons, Lilly’s are apparent but Tierney’s are more of a mystery. With only a fireplace as their source of warmth, human nature and desire takes over.
Neither Lilly nor Tierney were prepared for what was happens between them. With doubt, fear and desperation taking over Lilly’s thoughts, Tierney finds himself saying and doing things he feels he has no other choice with.
There was no stone unturned in this one. I ended up loving it like all her other books I have recently read. I must say that this one had my favorite epilogue. ❤

Seems I have broken my audio drought, as wholeheartedly the two main characters with very cool names - Lilly and Tierney - survived their blizzard and crazy circumstances.
This romantic thriller (what a great combo this is) was good, perhaps a tad drawn out, but good none the less.
Awesome narration. Was his voice as sexy as Tierney was built up to be?! Perhaps. But such a good voice to spend some hours with on my work commute.
I feel at home with this author, she will deliver. It was too long, but delicious and mostly satisfying. I like good names in these types of books and the Lilly/Tierney combo was cool.
The creepy voices were great - Mr Witt et. all, those desperate and cunning enough will be sure to receive their cummupence.
3.5 stars, rounded nicely to 4. Good enough to break the drought.

Still reading my SB favorites....and enjoying them all over again!
5 Chilling Stars!!
Sandra Brown is one of my top "go-to" author's when I'm in the mood for a great mystery suspense that will keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat, and SB manages to add just the right amount of romance to keep the characters connected and the reader enthralled.
In the town of Cleary in North Carolina, four women are missing, and presumed dead. The town has a serial killer (The Blue Ribbon Killer) on the loose, and as the story unfolds, as usual with a SB novel there are several suspects, and a couple of side stories with many twists and turns.
Lilly Martin, has returned to her ex-husbands hometown of Cleary, NC to close on the sale of their cabin, her ex-husband Dutch is the towns Police Chief who desperately want’s Lilly back. When leaving the cabin during a snow storm her car skids and strikes a man on the side of the road. Ben Tierney, is a man she met the previous summer, and as they wait out the storm together in her cabin they definitely have an attraction to one another, and despite her attraction to Ben she later begins to suspect him as The Blue Ribbon Killer.
4 women have disappeared from Cleary over the past 2 years ...the greatest danger to Lilly's safety isn't the blizzard outside, but the mysterious man right beside her.
I really, really enjoy this one and I found myself engaged in the story, looking for clues and searching for possible suspects. I truly enjoyed all the characters, some were creepy, some sleazy and some downright mysterious.
Overall a fast-paced thriller that will keep you guessing with a satisfying ending. I highly recommend to anybody who enjoys a good mystery and a bit of romance, if that’s your preference Chill Factor does NOT disappoint!

Holy crap on a cracker! Ms. Brown can definitely spin a tale. As many books as I have read by her, I am always amazed at her writings. She blew my mind again with this novel. I just knew who the culprit was but I was wrong...over and over again! So many little mysteries inside one big mystery. I loved this book! If you are a true fan of SB, and have never read this one, then grab a copy and enjoy!

Like most Sandra Brown books, Chill Factor is high on suspense and rich in details with a setting that plays intricately into the story. The list of possible “who-done-it” candidates is laden with red herrings and the stakes are high. Like the road that snakes up the mountainside where Lilly Martin finds herself stranded in a cabin during a blizzard, the plot is twisted with s-turns and roadblocks. If only she had headed down right behind her ex-husband, she would have been off the mountain before the storm hit . . . and she wouldn’t be trapped alone in a cabin with a man that she’s extremely attracted to – one that may or may not be a serial killer.
Ben Tierney is a man of mystery. Very little is known about him other than the fact that he’s an extreme sports writer and attracts women like flies to honey. Lilly first met him on a kayaking trip the previous summer. They both felt the jolt of chemistry that passed between them, but Lilly was still married to the very jealous police chief of the small, mountain town at the time. They parted ways, each wanting but not taking more. And now, they’ve met again – under much different circumstances. Five local women are missing, presumed dead. The town’s people are on edge, tempers are volatile. The only “stranger” in town is Ben – does that make him the most likely suspect? Should Lilly trust her heart or follow the evidence?
Chill Factor is intense with on-the-edge-of-your seat suspense filling the pages from cover to cover. The character list is stacked with possible suspects - damaged, fallible characters with motive, opportunity, and major issues of their own. The rugged, frozen winter setting plays heavily into the storyline as roads are impassable with no one getting up or down the mountain. Brown is a master at throwing readers off the scent of the real culprit, but I managed to figure this one out early. But with heart-racing, adrenalin-inducing scenes playing out through the block buster ending, it didn’t lessen my enjoyment. My only minor issue was the lack of open communication between the hero/heroine with a couple of over-the-top scenes, but still another chilling story by this author. Another Must Read!

Overall Opinion: I liked the mystery (even though I did figure out who it was pretty early on) and I liked the survival scenes. It was like a marooned romance in the sense that they were stuck together, but I guess I just wanted more romance. There was a lot of side stories going on that I could've done without. I figure it was all to keep the intrigue and mystery going though. One of my issues with romantic suspense is that I often feel like between the romance and suspense there is an imbalance -- and sadly that was the case here. So! If you don't mind these books that lean more heavily on the suspense side with just a dash of romance -- this could be the book for you!
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lilly and Tierney's story. Lilly gets stuck in the cabin that she just sold after finalizing her divorce. When she tries to get down the mountain in a snow storm, she ends up accidentally hitting Tierney, who was on foot. Tierney and Lilly met the summer before and had connected over a day of kayaking, so they are both shocked to find that they are stranded in a cabin together under some dire conditions in the horrible winter storm. Meanwhile, there has been 5 women kidnapped from the town and Lilly’s police chief ex, as well as the FBI, are on the hunt for answers. There are some suspenseful scenes, some sexy times, the mystery is solved....and Lilly and Tierney get a HFN ending.
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between focusing on Lilly and Tierney as well as many other side characters in 3rd person narrative.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. There were a few times where I skimmed because it felt a little too long. I also think this was because of all the side stories going on.
Instalove: Kind of. They are in a traumatic situation together, so I understand that it can speed up feelings -- but it felt a little underdeveloped. I'm pretty sure "ILYs" aren't even exchanged or mentioned, other than briefly in the h's inner dialogue.
H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Tierney. I liked him, but I feel as though the author wanted to keep the mystery about him going so we didn't get into too much depth with his character...at least not as much as I'd have liked.
h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Lilly. I also felt like we could've gotten a little deeper into her character, but I didn't dislike her.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed
Push/Pull: Yes
Heat level: Alright. They have some tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story (see below comment).
Descriptive sex: Yes, but a little awkward feeling because I think this is an older book.

I haven't listened to a Sandra Brown story since August. (Months flies!) Gosh, I have been missing her always so very enjoying romantic crime stories. — This time (my tenth) is it Chill Factor. First published 2005, here the 13:26 hrs audiobook (excellent) narrated by Stephen Lang.
...and I'm breathless.

Wow! This was nail biting good.
Exciting, romantic, suspense filled, intriguing and with a large cast with interesting different kind of characters. I didn't have a clue about who the nasty (woman killer) villain was. Kept guessing until the very end. — Also well thoughtout, topics I truly liked, excellent 'whodunnit' crime solving, captivating life stories, and more romantic sweet steam than most SB books. (Yay!!)
On the less good side?
Maybe were there some (odd) unexplained behaviors from both second and main characters at times. (I didn't really grip why Tierney act like he did always for example.) To be honest was it maybe a (tiny bit) too nicely wrapped in end to be truly believable. Or? But this is fiction, I want sweet and I'm not picky. More 'goodies' than 'baddies'. Add a FANTASTIC narrator.
All in all: Chill Factor is well spent audiobook hours if you like thrilling romantic suspense / crime in the Sandra Brown genre. I'm just looking forward for more. — Rounded up: a fiver ...'course.

WOW!!!! Loved this one!!! A classic who-done-it psychological thriller with a bit of romance mixed in. This one kept me on the edge of my seat… and the build up had me suspecting EVERYONE. Fabulous writing.

It was awkward, and they argued, so despite the on-coming storm they left separately. But the storm was already well under way. Visibility was poor, and traction was worse. So it was no surprise that Lilly was unable to stop for the man on foot, trying to track her down. There was an accident. He was injured. And the only chance they had for survival was trekking back up to the cabin for shelter.

The man was Ben Tierney. A ruggedly handsome man Lilly had met a year ago during a white water rafting trip. He was also a man whom she was deeply attracted to. Tierney was an adventure sports writer who travelled the world writing columns for a popular outdoorsmen magazine. Dutch Burton is Lilly’s ex-husband and Cleary’s chief of police. He has been struggling with his career lately as much as his marriage. He has been unable to find a single shred of evidence in the disappearances.
So because of the pressure of this nagging case, along with the failure of his marriage, he is quickly losing his confidence. He is an alcoholic. He is quick-tempered. And he is still hopelessly in love with his wife. And his composure is slipping.
Over time his obsession with failure became a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Then there is the city councilman/high school football coach, Wes Hamer, who I will kindly refer to as the town asshole and his subservient wife and football star son, Scott. There is the town pharmacist, William Ritt, who gives out town gossip even more than prescriptions; and his old maid sister, and high school teacher, Marilee Ritt.

Riveting!!! And yes there is romance, but you must be patient. It is hard earned. So far Sandra Brown has proven to be one hell of a great writer. This is the second book of hers that I have read and loved, and it will not be the last!

A romantic thriller which lacked romance—more accurately, substituted fear and uncertainty for romance—and was too busy setting up several people as serial killer suspects to make the real killer truly threatening or even interesting..
Even so, many sections of this book were gripping. Five women had gone missing over a two year period in the small, mountainous town of Cleary, NC. Perhaps even more frightening than five women going missing was seeing how effortlessly local police and the FBI zeroed in on a suspect, conjuring a case based on circumstantial evidence and putting a man in the crosshairs who may or may not be guilty. And that suspect is the man with whom Lilly finds herself stranded in a cabin on a mountain during the ice and snow storm of the century.
The ending was exciting, but the explanations that came afterwards were weak justifications for weak plot points.
Also, and this cannot be overemphasized, if a serial killer has just let a fact slip that reveals himself as a serial killer, and you’re handcuffed to a kitchen cabinet with no way of defending yourself, don’t look at him and say, “How did you know that?”

Listened to this book on the drive to and from SC at Thanksgiving. It was a way to fill up the long and empty miles, but as a piece of "literachoor" - it was an enormous piece of feculent nonsense.
Where to start? How about the part where Lily, the heroine, convinced she is snowed in with a serial kidnapper/murderer, has hot monkey sex with him, despite the whole HE'S A FREAKIN' MURDERER thing.
Or how about the fact that the hot, monkey sex happens between a woman who is weak from a nearly-fatal asthma attack and a man who has:
a concussion
bruises all over his body from being HIT BY A CAR
an open head wound
a sprained ankle.
Plus, the HMS takes place in a freezing cold cabin where the two people are marooned. So cold that normal people would just be curled up INSIDE the fireplace, not getting naked in front of it. Jeez. I realize it's fiction, but couldn't there be some sense of 'this could really happen?'
The side story about the high school athlete, steroids,
the worst father in the world, and his dishrag of a wife was just distasteful.
Won't be reading / listening to any more Sandra Brown, that's for sure.

This is a book one should read during summer! LOL
Apart from freezing feelings it transmits, due to a great descriptions, the book is very, very interesting and until the very end you are not sure who the culprit is!
The MCs are secluded in a cabin without light, water or heating. Lilly has a ton of suspitions about Tierney being a serial killer. Tierney, on the other hand, hides a lot. So, their co-habitation is full of tension and suspitions. Nothing much happens, all is in the athmosphere!
In the meanwhile, Lilly's ex-husband goes out of his head with suspitions, fear and jealousy, trying to reach the cabin where Lilly and Tierney are trapped putting everybody in danger. His best friend, who not his friend at all, goads him with lurid suggestions to act even more crazily!
I pitied him, even if he is abudding abuser of women. He's clearly mentally instable...
I was sitting on the edge while reading this book, because it makes impossible to relax even for a moment!

I had trouble finishing this and when it's about a suspense story, that means a lot. Plus, the romance part was too weak and unsatisfying IMHO.
Lilly is somehow stranded in an isolated mountain cabin, along with Ben Tierney, a man she's met some months ago and liked. However, women have been disappearing lately in their quiet town and somehow, the more time she spends with him, the more she becomes convinced he's the culprit. Her ex-husband, the town's chief of police, freaks out when he learns that she's alone with Tierney and tries to find a way to reach to her, but a recent ice-storm has closed all roads to the cabin.
Meanwhile, we meet some other town citizens and gain insight in their own stories. Many of them seem to be hiding secrets from each other. Could one of them have anything to do with the disappearing women after all?
This is a book with too much suspense but little action. It was more character rather than action driven, and after a while it became too slow and tiring for me. Besides, I didn't care much for the heroine and especially not the hero. I was far more interested in some of the secondary characters and their secrets than who the villain is. At least, the pace and action picked up considerably near the end.

A good book. Slow at times. I didn’t really care for the two main characters because the side characters were so great! The main baddie had a good twist. I suspected him but wasn’t sure!

★★★★½ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Good Gravy Beans! I haven’t read a Sandra Brown book in ages, but this one took hold of me and wouldn’t let go. Stephen Lang does an excellent reading of this romantic suspense. I’ve heard him narrate before, though it’s has been awhile; he still holds up.
I have to thank Jill (who knows I love a good snowbound story) for the recommendation of this wonderful, well plotted story, which kept me guessing until the end, as well as going to back to GRs to see just how people were shelving it. Was the heroine snowbound with a serial killer or not?! No holes left to plug at the end, either, unlike that last suspense book I read. This is SB in top form. Almost a bit small town soap-opera-ish, and I rolled my eyes a few times, but it manages to pull it off with tons of edge-of-your-seat suspense.

I really enjoyed this book. I will have to say once again that her books are more suspense than romance, but in this particular book, there was an underlying romance the entire time. You know the hero has intense feelings for the heroine. There was one love scene and more implied towards the end of the book, so not very steamy at all.
This book definitely had many twists and turns and kept you guessing till the very end. I don't really give too much information on her plot lines because they are meant to be revealed the way the author writes them. So I'm sorry if my spoilers even sounds vague, but that's the best way to go into this book LOL.

WOW!! That ending!! Just when I thought I figured it out, BOOM another twist, another suspicious person, another important fact!
It all starts with Lilly & Tierney trapped by a record breaking storm, is he a serial killer or her fresh start in a new life? THIS BOOK is THRILLER/ROMANCE at its best!! Loved the setting, the descriptive writing, attention to details and it read just like a movie! Definitely a re-read for me.

I have a few Sandra Brown books on my shelves, and I hope to read them all for 2020. The next of her books on my list was Chill Factor. I was ecstatic when I discovered it was also in Kindle Unlimited so I went with reading the e-book version which made things simpler, when I needed to read during my lunchtime at work.
Chill Factor proved to be an interesting read. The story takes place in the small town of Cleary, where nothing is secret. Gossip, blackmail and the illegal dispensing of drugs is rampant in this little town and it would appear that the chief of police had no control over the illicit activities. He could not even solve the case of the five women who had gone missing in the last two years, all because he got caught up in his own personal issues.
I thought the mystery was well done. It had me guessing from the start the identity of the person responsible for the missing women and wondering what was their motive. What made this interesting and had me thinking was the fact that the five women who had gone missing had nothing common except for their kidnapper/killer. There were so many things happening and it was hard figuring out who could be trusted. There were so many suspects, which also included the male protagonist Ben Tierney. Yep, this added to intrigue. I didn’t like how the FBI handled the situation to begin with, but they redeemed themselves.
The characters proved an interesting bunch. We have Lilly, who finds herself stranded in her cabin with a man she is attracted to, but who may be a serial killer. Ben (Tierney), who proved difficult to read and who has the hots or Lilly. Dutch, the chief of police and Lilly’s ex-husband who was manipulative, selfish, and a serial cheater. Wes, the chief’s best friend a womanizer who had an ego the size of the Pacific Ocean. Then there was Scott, who was heading down a road of self-destruction, which was inevitable with a father like Wes. Then we have William, the town’s pharmacist and his spinster sister Marilee. These two came with their own brand of issues stemming from losing their parents at an early age and a host of other problems.
The story focused on the happenings in the town and the search for the villain, therefore the romance took a back seat. One could not deny the chemistry between Ben and Lilly. They were not strangers as they had met a year ago, but only for a short time. So, their being trapped in her cabin was a reunion of sorts.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Fans of romantic suspense would love Chill Factor. It’s entertaining, riveting and filled with several twists.

I didn’t like how the FBI handled the situation to begin with, but they redeemed themselves.
The characters proved an interesting bunch. We have Lilly, who finds herself stranded in her cabin with a man she is attracted to, but who may be a serial killer. Ben (Tierney), who proved difficult to read and who has the hots or Lilly. Dutch, the chief of police and Lilly’s ex-husband who was manipulative, selfish, and a serial cheater. Wes, the chief’s best friend a womanizer who had an ego the size of the Pacific Ocean. Then there was Scott, who was heading down a road of self-destruction, which was inevitable with a father like Wes. Then we have William, the town’s pharmacist and his spinster sister Marilee. These two came with their own brand of issues stemming from losing their parents at an early age and a host of other problems.
The story focused on the happenings in the town and the search for the villain, therefore the romance took a back seat. One could not deny the chemistry between Ben and Lilly. They were not strangers as they had met a year ago, but only for a short time. So, their being trapped in her cabin was a reunion of sorts.
Conclusion/Recommendation
Fans of romantic suspense would love Chill Factor. It’s entertaining, riveting and filled with several twists.

I hated this book. By the time I realized it wasn't going to get better I was pretty well done it so I continued. I didn't know it was possible to write a book where the reader hates every single character. There wasn't one that I cared for at all. Maybe there could have been but the story wasn't really about them so they were insignificant. I'm sorry the LAST thing I would be doing if I am stuck in a blizzard, in a cabin with no heat/hydro etc would be to worry about taking a sponge bath and proceeding to do that by taking off all your clothes. HELLO its freezing outside - I don't care if they had a fire going its still cold. ~rolls eyes. There are more situations like that that just seemed so unbelieveable, I know its fiction but still. I rolled my eyes a lot of the time. I also don't see what she saw in Tiereny - his questions were down right rude and the whole 'none of your business' comes into mind. Especially since she really didnt know him. Whatever I could go on but whats the point. It just wasn't to my liking.
All though I do have to give Sandra Brown the fact that it did keep my interest enough to finish it. I didn't just throw it down. Although I found it to be much to long and it dragged on in spots. I also really didn't see that twist coming at the end but even then I really didnt care enough about any of them to care. Oh well onto other books...

A gripping tale with many twists and turns...hard to put down. Thoroughly enjoyable read...Sandra Brown raises suspense to startling new heights in this fast-paced thriller!

Visiškai generinis ir niekuo neišsiskiriantis detektyvas. Stereotipiniai personažai, absurdiškos motyvacijos, keistas elgesys. Nežinau, ar čia vertimo, ar rašytojos problema, bet tekstas skurdokas, prastas stilius. Vienintelis knygos privalumas - skaitosi greitai. Net neturiu daugiau ką nors apie šią knygą pasakyti. Visiškai meh.

Сандра Браун ме изненада приятно с тази своя "Буря" може би очаквах прекалено захаросан роман , който за щастие не се случи ....сериен убиец, изчезнали (убити) пет жени в малко планинско градче и снежна буря. Чудесна Браун !

Every few years I pick up a Sandra Brown novel. It's always a good reminder why I went so long without one. She's got plenty of fans; she doesn't need me.

I've only read one Sandra Brown book in the past, Lethal, which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I was excited to try another one. Unfortunately for me, I picked this one. Wow. What a giant disappointment.
It would take me ages to detail the many, many things I hated about this story and frankly, I've lost enough of my life to this terrible book already, so I'll just list the general problems: completely cliche, unrealistic, TSTL characters doing the most ignorant things imaginable with no logical explanation, ridiculous, clunky dialog (NOBODY talks like that!), glaring plot holes, and giant, ponderous chunks of back story wedged in at every possible turn, slowing the pace to a crawl. The only positive thing I can say about it is that I didn't guess the killer until 2/3 of the way through.
Awful. Just awful. I'm now wondering which of the two books I've read by her is most indicative of her style because if it's this one, I certainly won't be reading another.

There is no doubt that Sandra Brown can write and she does mystery thrillers best. This is one that held me glued to the pages and there are quite a few pages at that. Not a boring moment in sight.
