Ex-marine, Marcus Braddock’s protective instincts are stirred by Darcy Ferguson’s generous nature, but her luscious curves arouse an altogether different response. Capturing her for his own quickly becomes a primary objective, but before he can claim his prize, he must liberate the enticing beauty imprisoned behind a wall of insecurities.
Darcy is surrounded by physical perfection—the American standard versus the American ideal. When the ruggedly tempting Marcus Braddock breaches her defenses in a blatant frontal assault, she has no clue how to resist. Yielding could make her the butt of a practical joke, but his sensual blue eyes and tantalizing muscles promise such deliciously sweet surrender.
Before Marc, Darcy understood how the world worked, had been told repeatedly, “Fat girls do not eat sweets in public, do not flaunt their oversized breasts, and certainly do not attract gorgeous men.” Fortunately, no one ever explained the rules to Marc.
This was such a short read that it wasn't a story. It was more like a a start to a book then it stopped after the couple say they want to be together. So not really worthy the money to me.
Nice "love at first sight" novella that every girl can likely relate to. You get the idea that there could be a HEA for this couple in the future.
What kept it from bein a 5-star read was the meanness of Darcy's family. I'm hopeful that most families aren't so cruel. It seemed a little over the top to me.
Darcy is used to being considered the fat one inside her beautiful family. She never feels comfortable around them. That changes once she attends a family party to welcome home her brother’s Marine unit and she meets Marc. To Marc she is beautiful and with his help she begins to believe in herself and her own self worth.
SWEET TEMPTATION has an excellent premise. I love that the heroine is not the traditional romance heroine that is usually seen in romance novels (i.e., a woman with a fuller figure). As I started SWEET TEMPTATION I really wanted to love the novel. I didn’t. The situation appeared to be a little too generic. By this I mean, the bigger sister who is mistreated by her beautiful, skinny mother and siblings who degrade and don’t appreciate her. I didn’t connect emotionally to the hero and heroine. I didn’t get a good insight into her feelings and emotions or the hero’s.
I also had a hard time believing the situation, not that that Marc would be interested in Darcy, but that they would slip off during a family get together and not be missed. I especially found this hard to believe because her sisters were interested in him. That I was bothered by this fact seemed weird to me, because I’ve definitely read stories that had a more erotic situation. It went back to the fact that I didn’t get more of a connection into Darcy, how she felt, thought, about what was going on to make me suspend disbelief. Darcy had such deep seated beliefs about her family and her worth that she could lose them all in a few short pages didn’t seem realistic to me.
Despite all the flaws there were a couple shining points in SWEET TEMPTATION. There was a beautiful passage where Darcy is describing how Mark touched her was different from the way other men had touched her. I was really moved by that. I also loved how in the end that Darcy began to stand up for herself.
This one was a surprise. I don't usually expect much from short reads but I really liked this. Darcy the h is plus size in a family full of perfect people. Surrounded by gorgeous sisters and a mother who has taught her that being plus size means she can really only expect ordinary and that if a good looking guy every makes advances it's probably a trick and she should be on guard. Enter our luscious ex-marine hero who doesn't give a crap that she's plus size. He lurvessss her curves. It's a short read but well set up. There is only 1 main love scene but it's not over the top and the ending is so cute!
A cute, sweet, sexy story of a marine attending a welcome home party and fixating on the one person who didn't expect any attention at all. Darcy is apparently vastly different from her beautiful, willowy, blond sisters. She tries to fade into the background and acts more like hired help than part of the family at the party. But Marc notices her and is instantly intrigued. After Darcy receives a put-down from her mother, she retreats to the kitchen to hide, and that's where Marc finds her. They have a quick, hot, sweet fling... it was just very cute. Very short, but very cute.
You have to love a big, strong, sexy soldier who knows how to appreciate a woman's body. Marc wanted Darcy from the minute he saw her, and he did everything in his power to prove it to her. As an overweight girl who has had to stand in the shadows of her beautiful, perfect sisters, Darcy has let her mother's judgment of her smash her self-confidence to smithereens. I loved the way Marc wouldn't let Darcy hide behind those insecurities. He wanted her and he set out to prove it. This was a very short story - only 40 pages - but it was terrific. Heart-warming and very sexy.
There we go. Nice, short, sweet and hot story. Chubby heroine whose family has made her insecure about her weight. She can't believe the gorgeous hero is into her, he shows her she is beautiful. This little formula is one of my favorites.
I REALLY wish this was a longer book. It was a great book with the perfect structure and characters that would have made for a great longer book. I enjoyed the book so much that I'm disappointed it was so short.
I love this story, especially Marc. He flat out ignores the negative he hears and embraces Darcy for the woman that she is, which is really sexy in my mind.
I see abused kids and girls with terrible body images every day at the alternative school where I work. I had a mother tell me one child was a loser while the other was a joy right in front of her children. Though we would like to pretend that families like Darcy's don't exist, they do. Abuse, verbal or physical, is heartbreaking and everywhere. I like to pretend that love can overcome such pain.
