In the courtroom Krista Conway was a feared opponent, a real tough cookie in high heels and pinstriped suit--but when she stood before Judge Logan Moore, he felt his blood catch fire! She was a living, breathing mass of gorgeous a high-stakes divorce lawyer who longed for marriage and kids--and Logan, a man used to wielding power on the bench, and in bed, wanted her... badly. Challenging, seductive, sizzling in his arms, Krista mocked Logan for his caveman tactics, but she knew the sexy widower with three adorable children could sway her no matter how determined she was to resist. Neither believed what burned between them was the truth and nothing but the truth... yet when the jury was in, would the verdict be a life sentence of love?
Barbara Schroeder was born on 28 October 1946 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, USA. She worked as nurse, before she married William P. Boswell, a attorney, and they had three daughters.
She has been a longtime romance novel fan, becoming hooked on the romances by Harlequin back in the mid-‘70s when she was home with her three small daughters. When the youngest reached school age in 1983, she wanted something to do with her extra time. She thought about going back to nursing, but didn't care to deal with hospital shifts. She'd often made up stories in her head and/or continued the stories that she'd read, so it seemed like a fun idea to try to write a story of her own. It took a lot more effort and organization than the loosely strung-together scenes she'd run through her mind, but she was right about the fun part! She enjoyed the whole process and wrote a story that she knew she would enjoy reading. She sent it off and was thrilled when it was accepted! It was even more exciting to see her name on the book cover. Some 50-plus books later, it's still a thrill to see her name on the book and it's still fun to make up stories — at least most of the time!
Barbara gets her ideas from everywhere but especially from reading, which she loves to do. Sometimes, just a sentence in a newspaper or a magazine will spark an idea to develop into a romance. Other times, she'll be inspired by another romance novel and she will try to put her own spin on a favorite old plot. Barbara believes that we all have our preferences — she's always been partial to the "secret baby" story line. That, plus the "marriage of convenience" and class or family conflicts are some of her particular favorites.
Her three daughters are all grown up now, and she and her husband are the proud grandparents of a beautiful little grandson. They also have three cats who seem to think that they are the rulers of their house. They are terribly spoiled, and they just might be right.
Rating 4.5 This was a re-read for me, the heroine is a big shot divorce attorney but she is also a romantic at heart, who wants a family and the first time she sees the hero is in the court-room when he is the new judge, presiding over an acrimonious divorce and he shocks everyone by denying the request for divorce. The hero and the heroine feel an instant attraction for each other as soon as their eyes meet.
They later find out that the hero is there for a year. The heroine who has moved to a new place has recently acquired new friend, a nine year old and two teenagers who surprise turn out to be the kids of the hero. For the past few weeks she has heard the kids tell her how their mom died four years ago and about awful Amy, the woman their father hopes to marry.
The hero basically wants a home-maker, who will be there for the kids and he's picked out a twenty-two year old virgin but his kids seems to despise her and when he meets Krista all his plan go sideways. His kids adore her and keep throwing them together and he at first thinks she's a young modern city woman, up for an affair but learns differently and finds himself hooked on to her, the way she cares for his kids, her passion in the court-room, everything.
But he sees their differences as well, she is rich and her life is in the city while his isn't and he is soon involved with her and in love but thinks she won't want them permanently. We know that is not true and that she adores him.
"Tangles" is the story of Krista and Logan. Krista Conway, the divorce attorney is known as the barracuda in the courtroom, winning every case with hawk like precision; but she has always believed in family values and happily ever afters. When a new Judge Logan Moore from a county is temporarily assigned to her cases, sparks fly! Logan Moore is widowed with three kids, and looking for a Stepford 2.0 homemaker for himself and his children. However he cannot deny his attraction to the fiery lawyer, and when Krista turns out to be Krissy, her young daughter's neighborhood friend, he cannot stop himself from making his move. He thinks of her as too modern and promiscuous, she lays her heart out for his conservative but handsome ass- until she understands what his expectations from her are.. I am one of the biggest fans of Ms Boswell's novels and this was another great addition to her fantabulous writing prowess. I love the way she explored the emotions and inner dilemmas of these characters, mixing them with angst, love, and hot lovemaking. You root for them, cry and laugh and enjoy their beautiful HEA in the epilogue. Bonus is the crazy shenanigans of the kids. I really, really, really adored this book! SWE 4.5/5
Ulcerul său i-a provocat o nouă criză.
Authors this day, and age are guilty of writing male main characters as how we wish them to be and not how they actually are, and I'm guilty of this too. Reading this, I was immediately struck by what a mans, man, Jacob was in thought process and how he moved about his world. I thoroughly enjoyed him being challenged and watching him fall in love, virtually against his will. His children were also charming if a bit too mischievous for my taste. Mainly, the battle of the sexes got old quick without any nuisance. Like for instance, his declaration that women can still be strong, but they still need a man. Of course, she offered a firm rebuke. Seeing this still relevant issue through modern eyes. Black women embracing their "soft era" might be inclined to agree with him. See tiktok if you want to know more on that phrase means in year 2023. Although, to be fair, it's about much more than a man.
Got what I expected from a love story, even more. First time reading the author, but this book proved that the writer is still worth reading. Both main characters came to my liking, although sometimes the Logan (Judge Moore) annoyed me a lot with his sexist arguments, at the end I am glad that Krista's love changed his mind and his beliefs about women. And children, GOD, I liked all of 'em. They are too cute ...There are a lot of cute and thoughtful details in the book, such as: Krista's cats, friendship between Krista and Lauren, 60's dance and music, court cases (that's their job), intimacy between the main couple and their discussion about everything nicely described.
