Winner of 7 children's book awards! An enchanting book about a mischievous little fairy dressed in pajamas and fuzzy slippers. She visits children while they sleep and is responsible for the knots and tangles in their hair. With its captivating illustrations, this magical story comes alive, revealing a less practical and more magical explanation for tangled hair. After all, who better to blame it on than a fairy? The easy-to-read, rhyming verse makes this book a favorite among beginning readers. Includes an audio CD of story narrated by the author, and an original fairy song. Also available in Kindle Version. Also by Bobbie The Sock Fairy, The Belly Button Fairy and The Fart Fairy
Bobbie Hinman holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and is a former elementary teacher. She has applied her knowledge of children’s literature to the creation of a series of fanciful fairy books that have received 26 children's book awards. Bobbie’s premise is simple - Who better to blame it on than a fairy? •The Fart Fairy is responsible for embarrassing sounds and odors. •The Knot Fairy tangles our hair while we sleep. •The Sock Fairy is responsible for lost and mismatched socks. •The Belly Button Fairy makes sure every child has one belly button and it's "always in the middle". • The Freckle Fairy visits sleeping children and gives them kisses that magically turn into freckles
My two daughters really enjoyed this book. They loved the illustrations and the story. They now know how they get so many knots in their hair! It's the naughty knot fairy! While my kids would give the book 5 stars, I must confess I would rate it at 4 stars. Some of the rhyming did not flow perfectly. I would have also liked to see a little more to the story because it was extremely short. If I was still a child, I would want to know what to do about the naughty knot fairy. The illustrations are very cute and fit nicely with the story.
Do you believe in magic and fairies. I found this terrific book with it's amazing watercolor illustrations nestled away in the, "Best Fairy Book Picture Book Treasury" . This book is a whimsical book of why we get knots in our hair while we sleep. This story about a Fairy with knots in her hair. She visits children everywhere. She carried a lantern and a little blue book. She is in her pajamas. After you turn in for the night, a tiny fairy with purple wings comes in your room. What does she do? How do the knots get in your hair? You get to listen/read and find out. Isn't that exciting?
The Knot Fairy by Bobbie Hinman I can't pass up a colorful children's book. Silly children's book about a fairy that has knots in her hair. Like how the words are separate from the pictures so they are not hard to read. The fairy that visits the children after they are asleep does something special...There is a cute poem/song about her. Other works by the author that highlight other fairies are included at the end.
I listened to the "Knot Fairy" on my Cd player. This is a picturebook that is written for the Nursery school student. The story is about a fairy who visits the home of children and ties knots in their hair while they are sleeping. There is also a song that can be sung to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and it is written and illustrated in a beautiful, non-threathening sentences and colors. Nursery students will love to have an explanation of why they go to bed with hair that has been brushed and know free and yet when they awaken their hair in full of knots. I think this a good book for early readers and for emergent readers. I really like litening to the story and how the narrator gave life to the characters. This book's CD is the perfect length for nursery students and their short attention spans.
When I read this book to my daughter last night, she really enjoyed it. I noticed, as I brushed her hair this morning, that she seemed to be more calm as I pulled the brush through the knots in her hair. I think that she thinks that having to deal with a few stinging knots is not a big deal, considering that she gets a fairy playing with her hair every night.
What I liked about it is that the words rhymed, making it easier for my daughter to memorize and associate with certain words. It should help her pick up reading a bit faster. Also, the illustrations were artfully done and really cute; which helped me to hold my interest in the story. I'm definitely considering picking up more books by Ms. Hinman.

A sweet little tale of a fairy that ties knots in your hair while you sleep. The book comes with an audio CD of a reading of the story with a song at the end. I recommend listening to the CD while you read the book. The illustrations are just as adorable as the book, they fit it perfectly. I can see this as a books the kids will like to read or listen to again and again.
This is a very cute story which my 5 year old daughter loved. She has very sensitive hair follicles, and so knows first hand the pain of waking up to a full head of knots that Mommy will have to brush out.
A book about a fairy that comes in the night and ties hair into knots -- the explanation of bed head. Again, I'm a sucker for well written rhyming books.
My Daughter LOVES this book! She is only 19 months old..and all she asks for at bedtime is "fairy" , we read it every single night. I really enjoy reading it to her.
My 3 year old daughter and I both enjoyed this little fairy's story about knotting children's hair while they are sleeping. The illustrations are adorable.
We got this because it had a CD for read-along. Our 3-year old now calls out to me, 'Mama, tell the knot fairly not to come tonight!' - he took it pretty seriously.
I just love this story my eight year old laughed and said well no wonder my hair is so tangled all the time... maybe I can try to capture her and teach her a lesson because these tangles hurt... lol
A fun, imaginative story with lovely illustrations. Some of the rhythm did not quite work but my kids enjoyed the pictures and kept touching their heads of hair as I was reading it.
