This review is of “Sin City”, #4 in the “Head Hunter” series by E.J. Hunter.
The book begins with Charity Moira Rose, the titular character, engaged in love play with her latest lover, Peter Norton. Soon, however, Charity is back to her bounty hunter role when she discovers that Everet Lockwood, a merchant she knew back in her home state of Arizona, was killed and his wife, Luanna, and their four children have been forced into prostitution. This was done by a group called the “Colorado Volunteers”, an splinter gang led by two former members of the Concho Bill Baudine gang.
Charity, with the help of a posse made up of chippies (prostitutes) and cowboys, manages to free the Lockwoods-not without protest from some of the children-and kills most of the members of the “Volunteers”. However, the leaders get away, leaving Charity to go after them in the future.
Upside: Not much. Been there, done that.
Downside: E.J. Hunter’s books value lies in their shock value: extreme sex and extreme violence. There isn’t enough of either in “Sin City”.
Sex: There are sex scenes, but they are surprisingly mild for E.J. Hunter.
Violence: Ditto.
Bottom Line: The only reason I’m reading this is because I paid for it and I might as well get some usage out of it.
