Even knowing the story it’s something really sweet to read this legend as one would tell it to a child. The little factoids at the end about Puerto Rico are also handy for reading to children.

This was a little different than the other books I've read with children in mind. The ending was a little gentler. However, it still doesn't make sense and I wonder if it's been lost in translation. I will keep searching of course. Even then, this was probably the best written of all the ones I read prior.

This was a book I bought with money donated from Esperanza board members. Although I would like to have had this book written in Spanish it is still a great book for our Esperanza library because it is a legend from Puerto Rico written by an authentic Hispanic author. Not only is the story engaging, but there is also some interesting info about Puerto Rico at the end of the book.
