Martin's third and latest series is the Young Adult fantasy series Thief, chronicling the journey of orphan half-elf Jaryd; his days of torment within an orphanage, surviving the dangerous streets and joining a Thieves Guild where his talents for taking what is not his can be put to use.

I picked up The Forsaken: Descent without having read the first book and still found it easy to get into. The story has a dark feel that pulled me in straight away, and the characters are interesting enough that I wanted to follow them even without the earlier context. The tension builds nicely and a few moments genuinely surprised me. It kept me reading longer than I planned. A strong book that works even if you’re new to the series.

Dungeon delving heroics. This reminds me of fun Dungeons & Dragons adventures and is just as exciting and magical. Building on what made Book One so fun, the risks and dangers ramp up and the Forsaken are tested to even greater limits. Claustrophobic and terrifying at times, this was Dark Fantasy at its best.

Alena Athscar, Wraith, and her Forsaken her back again, this time tackling an ancient crypt that has been the death of many adventurers before. Ghosts, traps and monsters await in the darkness. The atmosphere and danger reminded me of the authors other works (Relic Hunters) but the writing and the unique group of misfits that are the Forsaken make this series stand out.

A gripping fantasy read!

This is a dark, thrilling adventure that blends danger, loyalty, and tough choices. Wraith and her team face deadly rivals and ancient horrors as they venture into cursed tombs in search of a lost relic and a missing friend. It’s fast-paced, tense, and full of heart, a gripping fantasy read!

Book Two and contract two for Wraith and her Forsaken friends. This was as exciting as the first in the series, with a deadly crypt laden with traps, monsters and a terrible dark secret awaiting our heroes. Each of the Forsaken is given time and chance to shine and their growing bonds and rivalries is entertaining from the first page to the last.

The Forsaken descend into the Lockwood crypts - dealing with the dead...and those that refuse to die. As exciting, funny and entertaining as the first in the series and every bit as good as Martin Ferguson's Relic Hunters books too.

Book two in The Forsaken series continues where Book one left off - a lot of fun and fantasy as this band of misfits continues their adventures. This time they dive into the darkness of a long cursed crypt. More dangers, more monsters and magic. Hopefully not too long a wait for Book Three!
