Scott is in the library reading a comic before his next class when a bully shoves him out of his seat. Gorgeous, dark-haired Mark comes to his defense and throws the jerk out of the library. Scott likes men who are strong and a little controlling. Mark likes intelligent and curious men who don't mind surrendering. When Mark takes Scott to the seventh floor to see the collection of old comics, the temperature begins to rise.

Fun, sexy, and so hot I’m surprised the comics didn’t go up in flames.

I first read the short story version – which is now included as Chapter 1 of the novel – back in 2010. I remember how I enjoyed it. It was sexy, erotic; it had a touch of D/s, and come on, sex in the library? Hot!

Three years later, here I am, after finishing the novel version, and all I feel is well, blah.

I know that taste changes over time and this might influence my perception of this novel. I thought the drama was just too much for my current taste, what with sexual assault allegation, plagiarism, and the bully football player (who ended up liking guys too – which, come on, isn’t it such cliché: that all homophobic men are actually homosexual men. I had enough of that in Glee, really, and I stopped watching that show in season 2). I disliked how Mark and Scott dealt with it too (blackmailing using photos?).

The fact this story was developed as ‘serial’, being updated timely for while, rather than being written directly as a novel might also contribute to my feeling that the plot wasn’t flying smoothly. Like some of the plots were added as part of “update” rather than well-thought of as the whole storyline, you know?

In addition, all throughout reading this book, I couldn’t help to compare it to another story that I loved, which involved two young men exploring the D/s lifestyle (Lana McGregor’s His Roommate's Pleasure). His Roommate's Pleasure was rather low in drama; the core story was about two best friends both learning the rope of D/s together. It was awkward but it was mutual learning.

Meanwhile here, Mark was the one who already had experience. Scott fantasized about it, he embraced being controlled by Mark, but he never really done it. However, the more I read their sex scenes, I couldn’t help to feel that Mark wasn’t completely an experienced Dom and it just turned me off real quick. The way Mark kept moving back and forth between wanting to do the BDSM with Scott, all confident, then later on backed out because he was afraid he was hurting Scott, because his last relationship gone wrong when he did all the bondage, made feel detached with the D/s nuance of this story.

It is my personal issue with reading D/s (or BDSM) as romance – I might like it as porn but as a romance, I need to feel some kind of equality between the Dom/sub. Knowing the sub will not be mistreated. That the sub’s trust will not be abused – no matter how much the sub claims that he likes it. It’s a thin fine balance of characters that I can’t always explain when it comes to a story; but let’s just say that I don’t get it from this novel.

I did love Scott’s dad though – he rocked.

All in all this might work if you like D/s, college men, and drama. As for me, let’s just say that this wasn’t satisfying, and I felt mostly annoyed with the plot and the number of sex scenes – which I ended up skipping. A lot! Personally, I prefer it as the short story ...

I liked the story, but I did not feel connected to it.

I've read a couple of Parker's books and in each case I experience a distinct separation between me and the characters. I try and jump into characters and this leaves me somewhat dissatisfied as I'm always watching the movie, not part of it. Frustrating really.

For all Mark's confidence and swagger I found it hard to believe that he waited almost four years before he approached Scott--even to talk and test the waters. It seemed overly hesitant. On the other hand, Scott's obliviousness was easily understood and his desire to jump at the chance presented made perfect sense. Both are self-motivated and likable characters.

The external conflicts they face are rather severe for collegiates. Perseverance in both personal and public personas are required. All the while, Scott and Mark are exploring their sexuality and expanding their horizons with kink. I enjoyed that aspect and especially Scott's strength that is highlighted.

Favorite quote:
“You once told me I’d been waiting a long time to get what I needed. You were waiting too.”

This was a great freebie, I've been following the story in serial form on Sloan's blog. 4 stars and ♥♥♥♥ from me

Mark works in the university library and has been watching and wanting Scott Murphy from afar for most of that time. A chance encounter in the library with homophobic bully Bruce Kreger has Mark defending Scott, and after the library closes, the two guys take a little time to get to know each other before getting down to business in the elevator and one of the study rooms upstairs! Mark likes to tell guys what to do, and Scott sure seems to enjoy being bossed around!! The story has several twists and turns, and a quick visit (in book form) of the guys from one of Sloan's previous stories 'More' who I recognised straight away.....in what capacity that book makes an entrance I'll leave you to discover. This is another one of those 'you shouldn't judge a book by its cover' stories, and although I didn't like Bruce as a character at all, I empathised with him at the end. Thanks for this Sloan. ♥

Well I have to say I was disappointed in this - it was pretty much a hot mess. I appreciate the work of authors and am not one to bag or dismiss people's work but this just had way too many themes, dramas and issues going on that lacked believability. The attempt at Dom / sub play lacked chemistry or intensity and the two situations with " police / plagiarism charges" that put a dissertation and then a winning award on hold felt like an added drama just thrown in ! Sorry but this didn't work for me at all

I obviously didn't spend enough time at the library when I was in college. Who knew it was a place to have erotic sexual encounters?!? This is the second book I've read in the past few weeks featuring two hot guys having sex in a college library. Swing!

This one is steamy but the story didn't wow me. I guess if it's under 20 pages you shouldn't expect much though, right?

I'll give it 3 stars, mainly for the kink.

This was sexy and sweet with a low amount of angst and the lamest bad guy ever. There's a bit of BDSM lite here....just a bit of bondage and light spanking.

Totally recommended for book lovers *wink.

The characters didn't really click with me, and the drama was way over-the-top and contrived.

It was very generous of the author to offer this book on her website for free, though.

I liked the story and I liked the characters, but I think I liked the idea more than the actual execution. The interaction and growth between the MC's was a 4 star and the overly dramatic drama was 2 star.

The characters, their background and the evolution of their relationship was plenty of story and I would have loved more focus on them. I really enjoyed he dynamics of their D/s sex life and then finding the balance and equality in their everyday relationship. Scott was so much stronger than even he knew, so he and Mark were perfect together.

I know part of figuring it all out was the outside drama, the amount just sort of distracted from the relationship that I loved reading about.

I swear I could hump your leg Sloan Parker! That story was amazing! The dom/sub was done just right. It wasn't about control but about protecting, trusting, and cherishing. I completely and totally fell in love with the characters, so funny and lovable. Honestly I could just gobble Scott up. I was in stitches when he talked about jacking off between Steven King and Dean Coon. OMG, what can I say but that I loved it.

With all of the reviews I read about this book I was definitely expecting more. I liked the characters. The BDSM is light. The conflicts here and there kind of just irritated me. That's when it dawned on me that it was a little weak in the storyline. STIIL, it's a decent read.

Now available...Mark and Scott's full-length story!

Shy, nervous Scott is a big book geek, and fellow student Mark is a bit controlling between the sheets. During one afternoon at the university library, they find they are the perfect match. Now they have to find out if they can keep on proving that some things are even more enjoyable than a good book.

As the two begin exploring their most secret sexual fantasies, neither can imagine walking away. With only one semester left before they head off in different directions, they discover it's impossible to avoid their growing feelings for each other. When a desperate bully tries to destroy Mark's chance at the career he's always wanted and tries to keep him away from Scott, the two lovers must come to terms with exactly what it means to be in love with someone--and how to be brave enough to go after what it is they truly want.

This is the expanded, full-length novel. The original short story is chapter one of this novel. This work contains graphic language and explicit sexual content between two men, including some light BDSM (spanking and bondage). Intended for adult audiences only.

Scott's a library nerd and when he's kicked out of his seat by one of the football jocks it's just another day in paradise. However library employee (and Ph.D. student) Mark kicks the guy out for being an ass. Scott is totally smitten, he likes his men dominant in the bedroom and smart but hasn't had much luck. Mark has seen Scott around for the last 3.5 years but never made a move. When he sees Scott's interest he invites him up to the special comic book collection area (Scott is reading a comic book) and has plans to make it a bit more than book viewing in one of the private reading rooms with a yaoi (I presumed by the description). Holy crap. This is one of the steamiest 15 pages I've ever read. Smoking hot. This was from Sloan's website.

This book was like to have parts, instead of a story with a beginning middle and end it was just have two guys fantasizing about have sex with each other and then the last half was them having *yawn* sex. Using a tie around the wrists and having sex on a library table does not hot sex make. Or maybe it was I was just so bored with the fantasy sex by that time or maybe I wanted a little character development but instead these guys meet and 15 minutes are fucking and thinking how perfect they are for each other because they both read and like Ds sex… yeah it was free though so if you want some porn to read and don’t mind fantasy sex then this one is for you, IMO fantasy sex is just a wist of time it added nothing to the story

4.5 stars The first installment was so cute and sweet and sexy. Installments 2-5 are still good but not as much as the first. There's just so much insecurity and poor communication that it can be frustrating. The weird twist with the fifth installment surprised me and I'm not sure I like this turn, but I was willing to see where it went though, and then "To be continued..." Damn you! Who knows when she's writing more?

Unlike others, I thought this story got better and hotter as it continued to develop the characters and relationship in subsequent parts.

Sure, Part 1 was the most sex you could pack in a short scene and memorable in the unique setting of the library, but it is really interesting how Ms. Parker took that and turned it into a complete story.

It is a bit cliche that they both have single parents, but it is interesting how they develop and, slowly, build their relationship and trust.

I can't wait for this book to be finished.

This review is for the SHORT STORY that I read in 2010. The short story is now the 1st chapter of the novel version. Repeat, the review is NOT for the novel itself

Holy Mother of God!! Who knew that sex in a library can be THIS HOT! Seriously, for an 18 pages of a short story, this one packs a wallop. The story leading to the main course is just intense, playful, but HOT, I was FANNING myself the whole way through. AWESOME!! Totally!!

Obtained free from the author's website 20.11.13 - Thank you!

2.5 stars rounded up. Okay kinky college romance involving a shy bookworm (who writes and illustrates) and a dominant librarian. They meet and are shagging within about 15 minutes of first speaking to each other in the library, there is bondage (without discussion first) and some storyline, but it got a bit lost in all the sex.
