In this action-packed mystery thriller by #1 bestselling author Blake Pierce, Cora Shields, 30, former Navy Seal turned FBI Special Agent, is fired from the FBI for breaking one rule too many. When a killer Cora put away years ago is released from jail, the victims’ family know he will kill again and plead with her to hunt him down before he strikes again—and to pursue vigilante justice at any cost.
On the outside, Cora Shields is a total badass. A Navy SEAL veteran and a top agent in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Cora has a reputation for doing whatever it takes to catch a killer. What no one knows, though, is that she’s a wreck on the inside, addicted to painkillers and deeply depressed.
Sometimes, cases need to be pursued outside the law.
With no backup, Cora is finally free to act, to bend as many rules as she needs to, at any cost, to bring killers down.

Cora is behind bars until she is offered a deal to pursue her archenemy, the Cop Killer, sponsored by the FBI but working alone. The story is full of action, fights, lies, but it also shows Cora's human side - she is jealous and in love, anger is not the only feeling to guide her anymore, she also fears for her parents. But after finding her target, she receives a very strong lead regarding her sister's disappearance, and now I just wish the following book is released so I learn what happened! I thank the author for the ARC.
This is probably my favourite so far in the Cora Shields series. But I also feel excessively angry. As a thriller it truly kept me on the edge of my seat, and this particular book in the series really showed Cora in a more human light. I must admit that a great suspense thriller novel will always make you feel more emotions than you expect. The lightly comedic moments next to the tragic moments really could make a more empathetic person laugh, weep and scream all in the same breath.
Book 4 of this series. The books are getting better but still average in my opinion. Killing off a key character in the middle of the series feels like a mistake. Especially since I liked him. The 4th book had a lot of mixed words. Spell check didn't catch it because it is an actual word. I am halfway through the series so I think I will keep going to see it through. It's still a bit farfetched but I am reading past that now. I like this author just not sure on the series.
I think this book is the best in the series yet. I feel like the plot line was more intriguing and developed. It wasn't Cora just going into a million places and blindly shooting and killing everything and everyone. It was more raw and emotional. I can't wait for the next one to be released and hopefully find out what happened to Rose!
Ex Navy SEAL Cora Shields is trying to help a family get justice. She put a killer in jail but he manages to get free and the family of his victim begs for Cora’s help. Cora isn’t FBI anymore but that’s fine with her the rules are more of a guideline she’s blurred. Lots of actions and memories surface.
Cora is offered the chance to get out of jail if she takes ot the "Cop Killer," who was let out of prison on a technicality. Cora asks Johnny for his help. I was really shocked and disliked what happened to Johnny at the end of this book. The lead Cora gets at the end of this book leaves me anxious to see what she finds in the next book.
