I would recommend this book to 2nd and 3rd grade readers. However, it could be read to Kindergarteners. This book is about a girl name Hessie who is having a hard time with accepting the new addition to her family, her step-brother, Sam. She later realizes that being a big sister isn't so bad afterall. I would read this book when discussing the different make-ups of families. Students who have mixed families could connect to this book and would enjoy reading it.

I would recommend this book to 2nd and 3rd graders to read . It could be read aloud to younger grades. It discuss how a big sister name Hessie and she is having a new brother , but it's her half brother. However, Hessie feels like no one will give her attention. As time goes by, she notice that she could help baby Sam learn many things. Hessie is a great example of how older siblings feel.
