FINALLY: THE GOLF SWING'S SIMPLE SECRET - A revolutionary method proved for the weekend golfer to significantly improve distance and accuracy from day one

Rate this book
Have you ever wondered why the average handicap on the USGA has barely improved in the last 20 years? The answer is very a) The Golf Swing is very difficult to understand and to perform. b) The average weekend golfer would love to improve but doesn´t have the time or the interest to spend long hours practicing. After studying the golf swing for over 25 years, JF Tamayo has developed a revolutionary method proved for the weekend golfer of any level to significantly improve distance and accuracy from day one, based on three main 1) FOCUS ON CHANGES THAT MOST POSITIVELY AFFECT Opposite to the traditional methods, this book will only ask you to make changes in the most relevant parts of the swing needed to hit solid and consistent the backswing and the transition between the backswing and the downswing. 2) LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP AN EASY, REPEATABLE AND SOLID One of the biggest breakthroughs of the method was the development of a unique and much easier way to consistently make a solidly sound backswing that will look similar to the new Tiger Wood´s one plane backswing but much simpler to learn, to do and to repeat. 3) LEARN HOW TO CREATE Being able to increase lag during the downswing is one of the major differences between the amateur's golf swing versus a professional's and probably one of the most misunderstood concepts of golf. In this book you will easily learn how to lag the club like the pros, dramatically improving your clubhead speed, ball striking ability and distance. J. F. TAMAYO - 143 Photographs by J. Jaeckel

This is my favorite golf instruction book by far for recreational, weekend golfers. Tamayo properly discards and ignores anything the pros are doing because they are elite-class athletes with abilities most of us don’t have and will never be able to perform, particularly without having all day to practice them. I think his (her?) method, based on years of observation and study is based on the stack-and-tilt method—though he never identifies it as such; but it’s even more streamlined and simplified. He does what most of us need: distills the full swing down to its few essential elements, provides drills to ingrain those elements quickly and discards the little details which—by comparison—are of little if any influence.

All of this is written clearly and simply with plenty of pictures, and it’s very easy to understand. The book also is no longer than it needs to be at barely 100 pages. A good read and an excellent reference.

I'm optimistic

I am a self taught hack. I love to play but I am starting to become frustrated with my game. I picked up this book and started the first couple of drills and I saw an immediate change in my game. I am making solid contact with the ball on every shot. Nice square and much longer shots. I've had to club down on every single shot, sometimes two clubs.

I've worked though the rest of the drills and appreciate the affect they have on my game. Once I get some control back I expect to see significant overall improvement.

For what a hack's opinion is worth, this book and the method thought are well worth the short time it takes to read and absorb.

Simple well explained swing wisdom !

Most authors try to impress us with their wisdom by over-complicating whatever they are explaining. This is the exact opposite. His wisdom is expressed by simplifying ! This is a short read with no fluff, just a concise explanation of how to almost immediately improve your swing. After one reading, I went to the range and saw significant improvement. It’s astonishing how following just a few easily understood concepts and swing thoughts can make such an instantaneous impact. Can’t wait to take my “notes” with me to the course tomorrow and see what I shoot !

Best of the best instructions I've ever read and I have numerous golf books!

The author explains and shows images of essential moves that give the golfer increased accuracy and distance. Many golfing books overwork the two goals by describing every facet of a complex swing. This author narrows the topics to the crucial steps to a successful ball strike, namely setup, backswing with proper arm pressure, and transition to the downswing with lag.

If you're a frustrated golfer like me who doesn't want to spend the money for golf lessons, then this inexpensive book is a good start toward correcting three fundamental aspects of the golf swing. My biggest fault was my posture at address: way too upright. That caused my shoulder turn to be too parallel to the ground instead of somewhat vertical. The simple drill the author offers to cure that issue has made a huge impact on my ball striking and on my distance. Highly recommended.

Simple and it works!

After a quick read, I went to the driving range and tried the techniques and lo and behold they worked. I can’t say this will work for everybody, but it’s one set of simple swing thoughts that clicked with me. Can’t wait to practice more and get on the course now.

Love it! Must try!

Love this book! I had been trying to improve my game for a few years… got so confused (and messed up) by the 2 plane way (recommended by all 3 coaches and my “devil” friends. I happened to read this book - and I tried the new way this afternoon: distance increased and I have not hit any shots behind the ball for the whole day long! Highly recommended!

Very easy to read an understand.

This book help to clear my mind of a lot of things about the golf swing I already knew but didn't really know how to practice or incorporate into my swing. Easy to read and understand and after reading this book and using the swing practice techniques I hit more crisp shots with more accuracy and length. Can't wait to get on the course again.

KISS theory in golf

JF does a great job of instructing us to do relatively easy drills to limit swing thoughts into a simple process to hit better shots and be more consistent.
Thanks, I need to reduce my number of swing thoughts from 8 to just one- right shoulder to hip, all else is automatic

I have been working on my swing to try and create more lag, but wasn't getting anywhere fast. This book was a godsend, already improving my overall swing. Now that winter is approaching I will work on creating more lag. Thanks again for this great book.

Nothing earth-shattering but very solid

High handicapper here...simple approach to a golf swing that's probably best for fellow high handicappers. Nothing really new but it is put together in a succinct manner.

Good Book

This book tries very hard to greatly simplify golf swing. Excellent for someone with too many swing thoughts who is trying to clear mind and boil swing to it’s barest essence.

Simple

The concept is simple! The book is an easy read. Now, if it works? If so I'll try to increase my rating. I do know from many years off weekend golf that the concepts are not wrong, but are they sufficient?

Simple

This method will show you how “wrong” we have been taught to swing a club and how simple it is to increase club speed through lag and soft hands. Stop swinging hard and start swinging smooth with fewer “swing thoughts”

Freedom from technoclubpositioning

A few simple motions let you swing the club without static positioning. A free-flowing motion results in longer straighter shots.
