The Vagina Ass of Lucifer Niggerbastard

Rate this book
Fired from his job at the Analsausage Fuck Factory, Lucifer Niggerbastard sets off on an epic quest with his compatriots, a burbling sack of babyshit and Rojir the razor-bladed dildo. Written based off an outline of the events of Virgil’s Aeneid scribbled on the back of a cocktail napkin by a drunk, The Vagina Ass of Lucifer Niggerbastard is an epic tale told in a bizarro-author’s take on the ancient Homeric masters. Hey, all writers are thieves. It’s just illegal if the dead author you steal from hasn’t rotted enough yet. Actually, this book is pretty much nothing like the Aeneid. It’s more like the Odyssey, only more fucked up, more epic, and definitely more interesting to read. Is it a commentary on how fucked up things are yet again? Maybe. Probably. Yes. If you don’t have a sense of humor or “bad words” get your ass in a twist, don’t read this fucking book.

This book came to my attention a couple days ago. I read the preview on Lulu.com My initial impression was that Wunjo had watched the South Park episode where the boys write "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerBalls" and then decided that perhaps he should try to write something similar. I pretty much dismissed it as "trying too hard". I thought that would be the last time I'd deal with it.

Unfortunately, not.

E.S. Wynn-a friend of the author's- came over to the Bizarro Fiction group on Goodreads. He proclaimed that "The Vagina Ass of Lucifer Niggerbastard" to be "the greatest book ever written! :)".

This controversial proclamation did not go over well. I'm a know your enemy type of girl. So, I sacrificed a small amount of money on the PDF version.

I was not offended. I was not shocked. I was exasperated & rolled my eyes a lot. This is not Bizarro. Not.Even.Close.

I'm not sure where Mr. Wunjo & Mr. Wynn got the notion that stringing together random racist/sexist/homophobic/curse words like a toddler learning to speak was Bizarro. I get the impression that neither one has actually read a Bizarro book.

If you want to read a real Bizarro book, I suggest

Ass Goblins of Auschwitz instead.

When a book has a title like this and then says that its a satire on epic adventures such as Homer and Virgil's work, it makes me curious and I had to check it out. My advice to anyone else who has the same inclination is...well, don't. This is like reading a book by a guy with literary Tourette's who has the sense of humor of an elementary aged boy. Remember when poop jokes were all the rage? Yeah, not so funny as they were then.

If you offend easily, this book is not for you! :)

A hilariously scathing commentary on our modern society that links the western world with classical Rome in the most offensive ways possible, Bizarro author Shawn Wunjo's retelling of Virgil's Aeneid looks almost nothing like the classic text does, and yet it says everything the old tale did and some of the things that it should have.

For a second or two, I actually suffered from a serious case of The Need but then I looked at my brownies.

All is well.

This book had an awkwardly deep story line, with a strange set of characters. It was definitely a slap in the face to censorship. If you read the whole thing, it actually makes sense and leaves you with a sense of pride. So weird, but so good. You just have to get past the overuse of expletives.

Quite possibly the worst book ever. (But, I've never read Twilight.)

I'm almost impossible to offend and this "book" didn't manage it.
It is however one of the worst pieces of claptrap I have had the misfortune of reading. Two stars for sheer boldness.

This “book” sucks.

There is no point to this “book” other than, I would assume, to achieve the record for most profanities in a single written work with as little tact as humanly possible. To be clear, I am not easily offended – I fancy myself a free-speech absolutist who believes no speech should be censored no matter how objectionable it may be – so my ire towards this “book” does not derive from any hurt feelings. Rather, I hate this “book” simply because it offers nothing of value.

When I got my hands on this “book,” I expected it to be satirical in nature; I figured that the obscenities, racial slurs, disgusting imagery, and nonsensical dialogue were a literary device employed by the author to subvert expectations, perhaps containing some sort of poignant commentary about society or ones sensitivities underneath. Unfortunately, I was sorely mistaken in my assumptions, for there is no such nuanced subtext to this “book” whatsoever. What you see is what you get, and what lies before you to gaze upon is blinding in its ugliness.

The only thing worse than saying nothing is saying nothing with no style. Now, I do not believe that a book which has nothing deep to say is inherently bad since the story it chooses to tell may be entertaining enough on its own to merit a read. With this “book,” however, neither is there anything of import to discern between the lines nor is there a narrative able to be enjoyed at surface level. I would not be so harsh on this “book” had it at least entertained me to some degree with its humor and absurdity; with a title as outlandish and risque as this, surely there must have been at least one funny moment to speak of, right? Wrong! Nothing is funny in this “book” full of infantile humor unless you find the mere act of cursing to be innately comedic, in which case this “book” would be the most hilarious romp ever printed. Even if you edited out all of the offensive content, the remaining story could not hold water as a viable tale worthy of being told.

I noticed that many reviewers have given this “book” high marks on Goodreads, but don't take any of them seriously. Anyone who gave this “book” a rating higher than 1 star did so only to be ironic or funny, at least I would like to believe that was their motivation, because I cannot imagine there being a single person alive who can, in earnest, claim there was any value to be found in this “book,” for such a conviction would lead me to lose all faith in humanity. Do not doubt for a second that this “book” deserves the lowest possible rating one can award it based on the scoring metrics available to you (for Goodreads, the 1 star rating is the lowest rating and therefore the most appropriate, without question).

I hesitate to call this travesty a bonafide book because even the worst books I have read at least contained something of worth, their absence of anything enjoyable notwithstanding. That is to say, even if I was bored to death by a book, enraged by its message, dumbfounded by its writing, or otherwise left unsatisfied by what I had just read, at least I am always cognizant of the fact that these books still have intrinsic value to them by mere virtue of being a book, which is nothing more than one's personal slice of the human condition put to text to be shared with the world. Thus, that is why I cannot, in good faith, call The Vagina Ass of Lucifer Niggerbastard a book proper, because it is wholly and utterly worthless – a designation I could never give to any true book no matter how much I despised it.

Avoid this mess at all costs. I made the mistake of wasting my time with it and I regret it even all this time afterwards. Your time can be much better spent reading literally anything else out there, book or not (your shampoo bottle probably has better things written on them than anything in this “book”). Better yet, go watch the episode of South Park titled “The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs,” which is everything this “book” should have been and could have been if the author knew how to write satire properly. I may joke about burning bad books in some of my 1 star reviews (and they are just jokes) just to get across my negative feelings towards them, but this is the one instance where I find myself honestly contemplating whether this “book” should be destroyed en masse or not, and the pros of their total eradication from this planet are heavily outweighing the cons right about now...

“FAGGOTS? IN MY VAGINA?” Yelled the queen. “It’s more likely than you think, your fuckwittedness.” Groveled the footman.

this book is one giant hyeeeeuugggggh of counterculture. no one trying to change the world for the better. you expected progress? you expected a plan? nypa peanut butter.

it’s like 4chan wrote a novel, milking, and squeezing in as many racist-adjacent and homophobic-adjacent jokes as it could. and to its credit, this book squeezes an ungodly amount of them out in a short span. a dizzying torrent of busted ass blossom butter. the race to the bottom is real. and it gets fucked repeatedly. this book sucks. five stars.

this post is really deep……………………… it inspires me. No ONE wants to be pushed around and clearly the man is not going to allow himself to be pushed around and is standing up for himself GOOD FOR HIM. This image stands for something deeper I thing, You see, the Man is african american so he probably is thinking about the times when his ancestors were pushed around during Slavery. He clearly is not going to allow him self to be pushed around and be turned into a modern day slave……… so beautiful slavery was W R O N G and it is not okay to use people as your personal objects and push them around….. and that is what this photro is ABOUT …. so nice for nickelodeon to include such a subtle yet powerful message into their programming

I still don't have an idea what exactly this book was trying to tell me. Was the author just trying to be as offensive and gross as possible, or is this some dadaist attempt at creating anti-art? I really hope the former, because as an experiment in writing the most bizarre, least safe-for-work tale imaginable, I can actually appreciate it.

Addendum:
Since the writing of this review, my outlook on life, and on art more broadly, has changed. I don't value edginess for the sake of edginess anymore. The occasional outrageous or offensive joke can be fun, but dozens of pages? That's just a surrender to nihilism, which is probably the least thing our world needs right now.

Obviously not for the easily offended. I mean, come on. But I thought this book was epically hilarious. An awesome, quick read, that I've been through multiple times. You must posses a (probably twisted) sense of humor to enjoy, this but I give it 5/5.

I'm not easily offended... I mean, I picked up a book named "The Vagina Ass of Lucifer Niggerbastard" after all. I'm sure there was intended to be some kind of message in there but other than the occasional laugh from something about Lucifer having the Ass Fairy Griswalda's magic wand that shits buckshot or some funny combinations of profanity I wasn't really impressed by it. It would be a handy book to desensitize someone to profanity in about 68 pages. All in all I can't say I hated it but it's definitely not any where near as good as the other books I've read this year.

A short version of the Aeneid, with a few other references, in which 80% of words (I mean it, 80%) are curse words. Nothing more to say, really.

This book was one strange reading recommendation from Goodreads, after I had just finished reading a book on the 100-year war in Palestine. Such an intriguing title that I simply couldn't resist reading it. One can only wonder who wrote such an algorithm for Goodreads, that after reading books on Palestine, it directed me to this book...

"...and they don't say for no reason that one should read books on very diverse topics. Well, this one managed to surprise indeed. It immediately raises many questions, starting with who reads such books, who publishes them, what one should consume before starting to read, and so on. But five stars for the fact that the genre can surprise..."

How can you tell good gonzo or bizarro literature from bad? The standards of taste and quality are so unimportant to the genres that, frankly, the difference between brilliance and dreck is almost imperceptible. That said, I'm betting this is close to, but not quite, the bad kind. There are moments of cleverness, like the way the book subverts but parallels Greek adventure poetry; but then there's the constant racism, sexism, homophobia and scat humor for its own sake, which never comes off as clever or as gross as it clearly intends to be. Two points for effort, but still a swing and a miss.

This reframing of the Odyssey for a modern reader works well if the reader is a ten-year-old boy living in a trailer somewhere in rural Ohio. Wunjo can write, but this is pretty tough to swallow (and there is a lot of swallowing in this story). Trust me on this one: you're probably better off leaving Mein Kampf on your coffee table than this slim paperback.

It's like "A Vulgar Tale" only less refined and much shorter. It's one of those things that if you take it for what it is: sheer entertainment, it's really fun! To me art comes in all kinds of forms, just because some people think that all novels must conform to certain rules, doesn't mean everyone has to think that way. This book is one of the most hilarious stories I've ever read, and that's the point here: to enjoy it!
