Second Chance Layover

Rate this book
When the mother of all snowstorms strands journalist Charli Tierney in the Chicago airport, her boss gives her a fluff assignment to kill time–investigate the Meet-And-Go dot com social network for airport travelers. Imagine her surprise when her connection is also one of her brother’s old friends…and the boy she crushed on for years as a teen. Cal Wheaton is no less shocked. Of all the fish in the sea, or lonely travelers in Terminal B, his O’Hare Meet-And-Go connection is Charli. The snarky little sister he fondly remembers has grown into a very desirable woman. And this time there’s no protective big brother around to keep him in line. Reconnected, the embers of Charli and Cal’s decade-old attraction are quickly fanned into a night of hot passion. But when a ghost from Cal’s past drives a wedge between them, will the layover lovers realize in time that blame and guilt are baggage best left behind?

Sandra Bunino is a romance author who makes her parents proud by putting her MBA degree to good use dreaming up heroes who resemble David Gandy whenever possible. When not staying up past her bedtime torturing her oh-so-sexy heroes, she can be found shopping for shoes or saving turtles.

As a social media junkie in need of a ten-step program, you can also follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and her new addiction, Pinterest. Sandra loves to read and chat with other readers, so she formed the Bunino's Bookalicious Babes group on Facebook where they currently share their love of Jamie Fraser from Outlander...and David Gandy, of course.

This was a pretty interesting story but I really didn't like that it was in 4 parts. I didn't realize that this was a 4 part story so after reading part 1 I was pretty annoyed that it stopped so suddenly but I did like it so I got the rest of it and read it all at once. All in all, I did enjoy the holiday romance and only didn't like volume 3 much.

This was hard to rate since it was in so many parts but I will go with a 3 star.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I liked the app concept, but I didn't love the execution. Then again, I've zero experience with any such app. I liked the characters and they clicked together and all, but their argument felt a little irrational. the resolution felt maybe too easy.

Second Chance Layover was satisfying, but didn't set light my fire.

Read as 4 pieces...so could not rate as a whole. But wanted to rate the story here: 3.5* (might have been more generous if it wasn't in pieces in my head). Overall, sweet rom, but pretty ordinary. Liked characters.

106 pages, split over four volumes — ridiculous. Just as well they were free because I would not have bothered otherwise. The story itself is sweet enough but not terribly exciting.
