Henry King "Hank" Ketcham was an American cartoonist who created the Dennis the Menace comic strip, writing and drawing it from 1951 to 1994, when he retired from drawing the daily page and took up painting full time in his studio at his home. He received the Reuben Award for the strip in 1953. The strip continues today in the hands of other artists.

There's rarely anything spectacular or uproarious with a Hank Ketcham book. While the artwork was always good on the daily panels (which is what this paperback reprints), it did tend to have an unfinished, unplanned look with the backgrounds, as if he couldn't decide if a panel was to be no-frills or not. I personally prefer the Sunday strips or the comic books.

Ketcham did seem manage to keep up with modern fashions on characters who walked through the strip, which is one point in his favor. His art has always reminded me of a watered down Jack Davis, at least with his character poses.

This little paperback was an okay read ... nothing fantastic, nothing horrible.
