The First First

Oh my god! I absolutely LOVE this. There's no HEA nor even sight of one, but this story is fantastic!

Every visit to La Petite Mort Club is a treat and this is no exception. I love the unconventional aspects of it from her interview with Ethan to game night to Richard and Lee. I also love the realism with Desiree's uncontained nerves, hurt feelings, and aspirations to protect herself and establish her future.

He’d trained many a filly in his years and just like the horse, she needed a soft touch and kind words before she’d be ready to ride.
-- Lee

Lee was definitely a great choice for her first of many firsts. Every moment was amazing and I cannot wait to see what firsts Desiree has next!

Desiree has had enough. Beautiful and desirable, clever and disenchanted with romance, she approaches Ethan, the owner of a sex club, and asks for a job. She has seen her mother waste her own youth and looks on lust filled men who leave when they've had their fill. Desiree wants to take control, to have enough to be independent. Her plan is to work at the sex club to earn her freedoms.
Ellis O Day's new series is part of her La Petite Mort world, but this is grittier, with no HEA, as we view this world from the point of view of a slightly reluctant working girl.
Well written and brilliantly structured, this is an eye opener to the flip side of the coin. Wonderful characters and amazing sex scenes! This first story about her gives the reader an insight into how the club works, but also makes Desiree face up to her choice.

steamy

Very steamy. Very short, quick read. I enjoyed it. I’m interested to read the rest of the series to see what happens to Desiree.

Will she or won’t she? What will she do?

What a fun read this was! I am chomping at the bit for the next episode. In many ways, Desiree is a smart and savvy lady. In others, she is naïve and inexperienced. She’s the new “Pleasure Associate” (aka sex worker, or courtesan 😊) at the club La Petit Mort, the same universe in which most of Ellis O. Day’s other sexy and absorbing novels take place. But our intrepid heroine has never done this on a professional level before which allows for some very entertaining scenes. I have no idea which direction Desiree is going to take this in, but I am definitely along for the ride. 5 stars!

WOW! A captivating read that grabbed me and wouldn't let go. This is the first in Day's new series The Pleasure Associate and follows our main character Desiree as she decides to be a pleasure associate at La Petite Mort Club only she may have signed up for more than she can handle. Super steamy and fast paced I can't wait for more!

I don’t quite know how to react to this book. It’s intriguing and ultra spicy, but Desiree is so different from anyone in my experience. Perhaps not in her end goal. I think we all want sufficient funds to live our lives comfortably. But in her ability to separate her actions from her emotions. Her path is not one I could take, but it’s fascinating to watch it from the sidelines. Now, I’m very curious to see where this will go next.

I thought this book was so sizzling hot and steamy that I am surprised my Kindle didn’t start melting. I like Desiree and admire her for wanting to be more and that she found the courage to do what she thinks she need too. I really like Lee as he was sweet and totally swoon-worthy. I don’t know what will happen in future stories but I really want these two to end up being together. I cannot wait until the next book!.

I was waiting for this storyline to take off, but instead it flopped. I found the main character annoying and naive in a painful way, and her interactions with other characters made me cringe. The sex scenes were lame and by the end of the book I'd decided there is no way I will read the second one.

Eh

I did not like the MFC. She acted like she’s the first woman to sell her body for cold hard cash. I didn’t even like the way she’s going about it; selling her firsts. I was just glad to be finished.

How does a beautiful, young, but uneducated woman make enough money to live comfortably without depending upon a man? Why, she gets a job as a Pleasure Associate at Ethan’s La Petite Mort Club, and before Ethan can show her the ropes, he is whisked away. Unsure what to expect on her first night, she meets a few interested men, and one of them, realizing that she does not know what is expected of her in the pleasure department, offers to take her under his wing and teach her how she can best benefit from what the club has to offer.

Desiree’s new friend, Richard, is not only older and attractive but offers to help her in writing her “bucket” list as a Pleasure Associate. It is amazing how even though a woman is not a virgin, she can still enjoy many “firsts” when it comes to sexual delights.

And Desiree’s first is Lee—a golden blonde cowboy, muscular, blue-eyed, sex on a stick, who shows her, that even though he is a gentleman, he can still give her enjoyment and satisfaction from bondage and punishment. Desiree’s encounter with Lee proves to be some of the most juicy, sizzling, and arousing sex scenes I have ever read.

I love this author’s style of writing. She makes ordinary simple words do marvelous and astonishing things. She writes as if she is talking to someone. The story becomes real and exciting, and the reader becomes lost in it.

I also love how she always makes up these remarkable games. Now, in this case, the games are not that wonderful, but it is how the stakes are laid out and how the winner benefits.

When Richard says, “. . . I think I can find you a different partner for each deed and every man wants to be a lady’s first at something”, it is the reader’s clue, that there is so much more to come for the members of the La Petite Mort Club, and for Desiree. Looking forward to Book 2.

This is a really interesting book. It describes the first two evenings of Desiree as a new high-end sex worker in a club. The book is REALLY hard to characterize -- which can intrigue or annoy a reader, depending on the reader's expectations.

It is not a BDSM Club romance -- even though it is set in a club which is partly/significantly devoted to BDSM. It is not really erotica -- there is one long sex scene. It is not romance at all -- Desiree is a sex worker who is looking to build herself up to earning and saving enough money to enjoy a very early retirement. Desiree's status -- as a self-directed sex worker who is entering the field determined to start high and keep going up -- is really blunt.

The ending was quite abrupt, but in keeping with Desiree's personality. Her level of lack of understanding or experience in the waters she wants to swim in for money is actually rather scary (as she understands). Her ambivalence and waffling was perhaps a bit extreme and clashes with her very pragmatic, goal-oriented approach at the beginning of the book.

I will be continuing the series. It is quite powerful. And rather disturbing.

So, I've been trying to work my way through Manacled and needed a break and a little kinky palette cleanser. This was ok for that, but I wasn't super hyped about it.

First, we begin with the FMC going on and on about how perfectly beautiful she is and how all women hate her because she's so drop dead gorgeous.

description

Then she shows how special she is by not banging her boss. And then she shows how even more special she is by not banging any dude at the s*x club on her first day on the job. She does eventually bang someone, and it was pretty good, so that's why I'm at 3 stars, but of course she starts worrying about the guy getting too attached to her because she's so awesome and freaks out and leaves.

But, I was kind of over the whole thing when some rich dude told her that playing cards with her at the s*x club was the most interesting night he'd had in a long time 🙄 . Sure, dude, sure.

The New Hire by Ellis O’Day is a fast, steamy introduction to the world of La Petite Mort Club and to Desiree, a woman determined not to end up like her mother and willing to take a daring path to change her life. The premise is bold and refreshing, and the writing pulls you in quickly. The chemistry between the characters is hot, and the pacing makes it easy to keep turning pages. That said, I found the main character, Desiree, inconsistent. At times she’s confident, self-aware, and in control, ready to own her choices, but then she shifts into moments of hesitation and self-doubt that don’t always match her earlier decisions. It made her feel less grounded, like she was torn between two versions of herself. I would’ve liked a bit more internal development to explain those swings and show what’s driving her emotionally beneath the surface. Even with that, the book has an intriguing premise and solid potential for the series. It’s a fun, quick read with plenty of heat and a storyline that hints at deeper layers to come. I’ll probably pick up the next instalment to see how Desiree grows into the woman she’s clearly meant to be.

This is a start into a new series that is still focused at La Petite Mort Club and concerns one of the new pleasure associates and her experiences. However, she is incredibly inexperienced so with the help of an older gentleman at the club they are going to give all her firsts away to various clients. Lee, a gorgeous cowboy, is the first for her and he rocks her world, but scares her away from him because as you know, in her line of work, you can't catch feelings for the clients.

The author warns up front that this is an on-going serial and therefore each book will not have the HEA ending. It's very steamy and erotically charged, but there is a lot of negative head space for Desiree. I hope that she can safely navigate this world and I look forward to reading more of her adventures at the club and her initiation.

This book caught my attention during a free Kindle promotion, and I was looking forward to a quick, fun read. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver. While the premise seemed promising, the execution fell short for me.

The main character was the biggest drawback—I found her frustratingly indecisive, and her actions often left me rolling my eyes. I kept waiting for personal growth or a spark of determination, but it never came. Instead, I felt more exasperated with her as the story progressed.

As for the romance, I was hoping for something steamier to add excitement to the plot, but it just didn’t have enough smut to satisfy those expectations. The chemistry between the characters felt lacklustre, and the tension that made this genre enjoyable was missing.

Overall, while it might work for readers who enjoy slow-paced stories with a flawed protagonist, it just wasn’t for me.

Desiree has no intention of ending up like her mother and decides to work for Ethan at La Petite Mort. She's not looking for a rich husband, she plans to make her money and live her life her way. The men love her beauty, her wit and her determination, but she's very inexperienced in the La Petite Mort lifestyle. I love that she's looking for different men to teach her all of her firsts, but can she stick to her plans when a certain cowboy comes along? There's Richard who wants to take her under his wing then there's Ethan's friend, Lee the cowboy, who's unlike any man she's ever known before. Can't wait to see where her story goes next. This is a new journey into La Petite Mort. It promises us a new viewpoint as everyone else’s story is from a different perspective. Desiree has decided to start working at the club as a Pleasure Associate. This gives us loads of emotion and the inner turmoil that led her there and the fight within her mind. We can all imagine what it would be like in the fantasy worlds we create but Desiree gives us a glimpse at reality. Lee is a great experience to start with but I have a feeling that not every experience will be as rosy.

I can’t wait to see what lies ahead. There are so many possibilities it has my head spinning. I have liked all her books, but this one has snagged my attention unlike anyone since Terry.

Desiree and the Cowboy. Desiree is a young woman raised by a mother who went from man to man, dragging her daughter with her. Her only source of income was from the current boyfriend. Never a lasting relationship with any of them. Desiree wants a better life than that, but her only asset is her beauty, and looking at her mother, she knows beauty fades. She decides a working at a sex club might be the answer. Hoping to make as much money as quickly as possible, she lands a job but is so nervous she's afraid she might not be able to follow through. One of the members offers to mentor her and sets her up with Lee, a rich cowboy. And her lessons begin! Great characters. Lee is so sweet and gentle with her. Loved the story. Really good read.

Absolutely Love this new series by Ellis!
Desiree presents as the perfect strong female protagonist as she sets her course to work at La Petite Mort Club as a Pleasure Associate, but denies the owner to welcome her in. As she enters her first night, she sets the stage for her experience by gathering men to play a different kind of games to see who the winner will be. When one wins her hand for the night, he wants something completely different for Desiree which will lead her to her first over the top experience. When the experience ends, what will Desiree do? You have to read to find out and will love her sticking to her rules!

This is the first in the saga of Desiree, a stunning young woman who sells herself before her looks fade so she doesn’t end up used and discarded like her mother has.

No HEA. Currently there are 3 Desiree books about her becoming a high priced whore in probably the best place to do it. This saga looks at the cost of being a Pleasure Associate.

This was a very good story. Five stars in spite of it making me cry 😀. Desiree is a strong character and I liked her. But after meeting Lee, I don’t know if i can continue without the HEA. Lee was great and their scene is HOT. I see that I have been spoiled by all the HEAs I’ve been reading. 😃

As per usuall Ellis O. Day's writing is nice and easy to read. But....
- this particular read ended at 75% on my kindle, the rest was was a teaser for the rest of her works;
- the idea of this particular club and how it's operating is far fetched at best, not believable in the slightest therefore I completely disconneted from it;
- the way her EACH AND EVERY story gets cut up into 3-6 short books (Meghan March style) irritates the hell out of me... and that's the main reason I will no longer read anything by this author. Pity. I liked the other stories.

This is an interesting story line, all the kink is really well, and tastefully written which is why I love the stories that revolve around the people and goings on at Le Petite Mort Club. This one had a very different feel to it - maybe because Desiree is there to be a pleasure associate, although, it did seem she got most of the pleasure lol. Also the other books revolved around club members so this is a very different point of view. I am looking forward to book 2 to see how this story develops and whether I feel drawn to either of them as I would the other stories.

There are several short series about La Petite Mort Club; this one is a little different.
Desiree is set to earn enough money as quickly as possible to set herself up in a better home and lifestyle. She has some adjusting to do to find out if her new employment is to her taste! Enter Lee, determined to teach the novice that she can enjoy herself too and we're all taken along for the ride as Desiree is taught that waiting reaps increased rewards. Will she fall in love on the way, though?
Explicit sexual scenes are tender and erotic with an interesting story.

I really enjoyed this and the characters so far are fun to learn about especially the sassy main girl. I love her so fun and understanding how she feels about taking control of life with her history I don’t blame her. I do love me a sexy cowboy I hope he becomes a main character in this series! Looking forward to see what happens next I couldn’t put this book down once I got started! The is so much steamy it feels like it coming right off the screen lol

Awesome Book!!!

I really enjoyed reading The New Hire(The Pleasure Associate Book 1)!!! All about Desiree a young girl who is attempting to be hired at La Petite Mort Club, a premier pleasure establishment. This is her second interview and it’s with the owner Ethan. Read about Desiree and see how being a Pleasure Associate works out for her!!!! There is lots of emotions and toe curling incidents throughout the book. I can’t wait to read book two!!! Definite Read!!!!!

A Gentleman's Club Can Be Erotic Yet Fearful

It was interesting to see the thoughts of a new girl, who enjoys sex, yet so afraid and fearful on her first night at work. She is a Pleasure Associate in this club.. While she scoped out the place and men, she promised no sex! But she found a real cowboy the second night. Her memories of his well built body and his teasing rocked her to her moist core.

DNF at 50%. There is no potential romance that I have found in the first half of the book. Consequently you’d think that I was here for the spice. Nope. Nothing has happened. Absolutely nothing. Supposedly something is about to happen but, quite frankly, I’m so bored and disappointed that I’m not willing to stick around and find out. There are far too many books that are far more enjoyable to stick around and see if there is any merit in this book.
