Seamus Heaney, the Derry poet, holder of the Nobel Laureate for Literature, and Liam O'Flynn, the internationally acclaimed uilleann piper, have collaborated to produce an album of poetry and music, with Heaney reciting his own lines and O'Flynn playing the uilleann pipes.
Works of Irish poet Seamus Justin Heaney reflect landscape, culture, and political crises of his homeland and include the collections Wintering Out (1972) and Field Work (1979) as well as a translation of Beowulf (1999). He won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1995.
This writer and lecturer won this prize "for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past."
I 🫶 this man. The poetry is so personal. Really enjoyed the combination of poetry and music but if I was listening to this again to try and help me sleep I’d have to just listen to the poetry
It's a bit of a stretch to say you've read this title, since it's a cd with recital and music. But as I have read most of the poems, some on many occasions, some once, I think I have it covered. Heaney is an outstanding poet, but perhaps not that great a speaker, but he is what he is, and it's a delight so hear his soft spoken voice alongside the gentle piping.
