Harbor Highlands #3

Flirting with the Enemy

Rate this book
All is fair in love and promotions…
Until you flirt with the enemy.

Seth Taylor is a thorn in my side. I can’t stand his cocky smirk, know it all demeanor, but most of all, I can't stand those ridiculous bow ties he wears.

But the number one reason I hate him…
He’s applying for my promotion.
Well, it’s not mine, yet, but he’s certainly ruined my shoo-in chance.

When we’re told interviews will be held during a conference in Colorado, I pray our hotel rooms are on different floors.

Of course, things never go according to plan.

A failed connecting flight, a road trip, and a blizzard force us to seek refuge at an isolated roadside motel in the mountains. When my only option is to share a room with Seth, I’m expecting the bow tie wearing, clean cut, black rim glasses Seth. Not this guy standing in front of me wearing only gray sweatpants that hang dangerously low on his hips and a cocky grin.

Maybe it’s the high altitude or perhaps it’s Seth who's causing this lightheadedness.
Because when a game of twenty questions turns naughty, it doesn’t take long for the burning rage to turn into fiery passion.

All I know, the longer we stay here lines blur and feelings become real.

Flirting with the Enemy is a workplace, enemies to lovers, forced proximity romcom with a hero who uses his bow ties for things other than an accessory. Be prepared to laugh-out-loud one minute and swoon the next in this steamy standalone romance.

2 stars - the depth of the title perfectly represents this book.
It was lighthearted, a great trashy romance book to binge on holiday and proceed to forget almost everything about... Short enough to keep me entertained but not great writing style...almost immature.

this is the same as my review for Flirting with the Playboy because neither of these books deserve more of my time

Who knew bow ties could be so hot?

The banter is witty, the dialogue delivered with a one-two punch that'll have you laughing your ass off. Seth and Parisa are a classic enemies-to-lovers who finally give in to temptation.

For me, it's the glasses. But those gray sweatpants will have you ready for more.

Parisa never stood a chance.

This was a fun and sexy book that has made me rethink my stance on neckwear.

A great enemies to lovers book that had me laughing out loud to the banter between Parisa and Seth. Rooting for the pair to fall, and jealous of their steam on the page! It was great to see that the Office rivalry kept for a spicy read that was totally open door but very creative and artfully written. The tension between the two followed throughout the whole book even after they decided to get together and all the comic twists of fate that finally brought them together made me think of the great Hugh Grant Rom Coms.

A quick read that had great character development, hysterically witty and playful dialogue, I loved the way that the chemistry between the two was not something that went undeveloped once both started to realize they wanted more from their relationship and were willing to fight for it beyond work. This is definitely one of the books that balances drama and comedy well and I think the use of those dramatic moments made each of these characters move beyond the stereotype of their tropes and created well rounded and fleshed out characters that I wanted to know more about. I hope that Parisa and Seth return as cameos in the next book because I surly want to follow up on their lives after the epilogue.

I know this will not be the last book that I read in this series or by this author.

I received this book for an honest review.

It's like Hallmark, but SPICY! ;)

I was an arc reader and also an early beta reader, so I had the privilege of falling love with Seth and Parisa's story from the beginning. This is a fabulous enemies-to-lovers, workplace rivals, contemporary romance. I loved how the beginning of the story started with them getting stuck in a snowstorm together. And you think it's not going to be an "only one bed trope" at first, but bam! I loved the "Parisa paranoia" that led to it (when you read it you'll understand). This book is like a sweet and spicy snack. lol!

The author impressed me with the perfect pacing of the story from the get-go. The characters were so likeable. Sometimes in an enemies-to-lovers novel, I like one character more than the other. It wasn't the case with any of the characters in this book. Super refreshing! And Seth and Parisa are genuinely good people with good hearts. I love me some feel-good spice! I recommend all the Harbor Highlands series. I can't wait to read the next one!

Flirting with the enemy is the second book in Harbor Highlands series and one that I was looking forward to read since I enjoyed the first book a few months ago.

I loved this book so much. Single bed, forced proximity, enemies to lovers banter and slow burn that catch fire on the page when those sparks of chemistry leave no space for air.

It made me think of a perfect office romance where we get to know both sides of the story and the end is always fulfilling.

A true gentleman in the streets and a very alpha man in the sheets , I love Seth and his bow ties.
Parisa is a feisty heroine and I loved her quirky character and hilarious comebacks.
Their banter is really one of the best that I’ve read in a long time and the character arcs were done so well.

Hilarious, steamy and wholesome romance story.

This is my second book by this author and so far I have loved both books that I have read!
This book was really cute and had parts where I had teared up a bit and then other parts where I giggled out loud.
Enemies to lovers and workplace trope isn't in my top list of tropes that I usually like but I really enjoyed this one.
It was a quick read for me and I probably would have finished it sooner if I didn't have to adult but when I could read it I didn't want to put it down.
I LOVE Seth and have added him to my book boyfriends list. The whole storyline was cute and it had a little spice in it which was awesome. Also I will never look at a bow tie the same again lol.
This is a great story and I look forward to more from this author. 😀

Seth & Parisa
🫶workplace rivals to lovers

🫶forced proximity

Seth is a bowtie wearing, golden retriever perfection of a leading man. He isn’t your typical mmc and it’s so refreshing. His commitment to his family, volunteering and giving back to the community was just everything. I’ve never rooted more for a man to get his happy ending ever.

Parisa tried to not fall for Seth, but the poor girl didn’t stand a chance. She was a perfect fmc for him. I loved how she kept trying and how she owned up to it when she knew she made mistakes. Her grand gesture to Seth was perfection.

I can’t say enough good things about this one. Absolutely loved it. All the good feels.

I loved Flirting With The Enemy! It has so many of my favorite things in a rom com: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, witty banter, and plenty of spice! I loved the way Seth and Parisa’s work friends and family are a part of their story.

I am loving the Harbor Highlands series and can’t wait to see what Gia has for us next! Flirting With The Enemy can be read as a standalone but I think it’s even better if you read Flirting With The Playboy first.

Seth & Parisa first caught my eye in “Flirting With The Playboy,” because there is something crazy cute going on there. By the end, I was SO hoping that Gia Stevens would give them their very own book! AND SHE DID!!!!
I’m not going to go on about how it’s cute, sexy, funny, sexy, adorable, sexy, etc., because you just gotta read it yourself! Also, it’s sexy! But not TOO much. This is a great feel good story & I am very excited to see what’s next!!

"He has this magical ability to turn me into a giddy teenager and it excites me and terrifies me all at the same time."

What You'll Find:
✔️Workplace Rom Com
✔️Enemies to Lovers
✔️Forced Proximity
✔️Fun & Steamy
✔️Dual POV

Seth and Parisa are coworkers, and enemies. Competing for the same promotion sends them to Colorado. And of course, that trip doesn't go exactly as planned when a blizzard forces them to a isolated motel. And that dominos to them sharing a passionate night together. When one night turns into more, feelings quickly start to change.

A new series favorite! I really enjoyed this one. It's fun and light, with minimal conflict and some sexy steam. And it made me smile. While it took a tiny bit for me to warm up to Seth (he was a bit of a jerk in the beginning), he won me over and was super swoon worthy in the end. The scavenger hunt... so cute! The sneaking away was a fun highlight too. The author has created such a fun group of characters in this series. Trey had me laughing in this one, gosh he is something... I can't wait for his story! Definitely check out this series!

" Never underestimate a guy in a bow tie"
At first glance, Seth comes across as an OCD, straight-laced overachiever who just loves to push Parisa's buttons
But don't take him at face value - Once that tie comes off
Hade's bells *fanning myself"

"Whatever superpowers he holds with his bow tie and glasses, I want more. "
Parisa is intelligent, a real go-getter who finds her peace in chaos. She is not a fan of bow-tying wearing Seth - at all
That is until she gets the chance to meet his alter ego up close and personal

These two live to harass the other - It's the little things
But when they end up spending two days trapped together they find they have more in common than they knew
They both know dating is off the table
But closet meetings and secret hookups?
Ohh yeah

This is a high-heat, light-hearted, office romance that moves pretty quickly
The "conflicts" definitely took a back seat to their relationship and were rationalized/solved pretty quickly. Which just gave us more time to watch these two spiral
The smexy moments were off the charts hot- Seth has a secret side that I did not see coming
The banter was adorable
An easy-to-read office romance with a solid lead on who is the next to fall

I received an E-ARC of Flirting with the Enemy and this is my honest review.

Flirting With the Enemy was an excellent read for me. I appreciated how the pacing was not too fast and there was always the next thing going on. By that, I mean that it wasn’t repetitive, the plot was not boring, and the story kept moving forward.

My favorite aspect of this book was that it was a true dual POV where we get a good number of perspectives from both MC’s, Seth and Parisa. Gia Stevens did a great job of diving into Seth and Parisa’s inner monologues and showed us who each of them really was as they both got to know each other, through the spice, banter, and the walls they built around their hearts.

Also, I now have a new perspective when it comes to bowties! Who knew? Lol

This is my first book by Gia Stevens and I will be reading her previous books from this Harbor Highland Series I’m also looking forward to the next one!

If you enjoy romantic comedies, contemporary romance, a good amount of spice, AND getting emotional, this book is for you!

I was waiting for this since I finished the last one. It was worth the wait! I finished it in one night!
the first part does run kinda consecutively with Flirting with the Playboy so it helps to have read that first.
The characters are interesting, especially Seth (just look at the cover and swoon, there are a couple of plots...the promotion, a trip they have to take together, Seth's family troubles, and the romance.
The book is fast-paced, interesting, funny, and sexy.
If you are into a workplace romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, romcom, smoking hot sex, and a happy ending this is definitely for you. I can't wait for the next one.

Sooo good! I just finished gobbling up this delightfully swoony workplace enemies to lovers romcom faster than a gourmet cupcake, and am still licking the sweet buttercream of happy feels from my fingertips!

Parisa and Seth are opposites who rub each other the wrong way. When they’re up for the same promotion, they’re sent to a conference to do make-or-break presentations, only to get stranded during a winter storm. Then they begin to rub each other the right way. Wink, wink. But that only complicates matters.

Gia Stevens’ writing is simply delectable. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this story or these terrific characters, who both evolve and grow as people and deepen in their relationship in such a satisfying way. I read it all in one sitting simply because I couldn’t wait to find out how the author was going to bring it all together before the last scene. Trust me, her romcom storytelling chops are so great, it plays out like a movie. Ryan Gosling in a bow tie, anyone?

I’m so excited to have discovered this author. I’ll definitely be back for more of her literary cupcakes!

Seth and Parisa are both up for the same promotion, and when they find out that the interviews are taking place on Colorado, they end up travelling together, with added complications along the way, and they end up staying in a motel during a blizzard. This is a well written fast paced, enemies /lovers’ story, with forced proximity, humor, witty banter, passion, and is an entertaining and spicy page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend

Seth and Parisa are enemy coworkers that are competing for the same promotion and now stuck together in a motel during a blizzard. Wow I absolutely love these two! Their banter was everything, witty and humorous without being overdone. I laughed so hard I'm sure I cried at some parts, and the steamy scenes were absolutely delicious. If you like your stories low on angst but spicy and fun then you definitely want to read this!

Oh my! I will never be able to look at a bowtie and have clean thoughts. I was very excited for this book after reading Flirting with the Playboy and boy did Gia Stevens deliver and then some. These two characters finally give in and all that anger and frustration explodes into some serious hotness. Mix in some sweetness and humor as they learn who each other really are and you have one great story.

3,5 starts mostly for the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️. The enemies to lovers part was very short lived - could have used a longer buildup. And there were some details in the writing that I found unnecessary - like how someone parks the car and what key is used. But if I’m the mood for a light and steamy read, I will read some of the other books in the series.

*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*

Seth Taylor is an organized, uptight, bowtie wearing pain in Parisa Anthony’s you-know-what. Both are up for a promotion and are told that the interviews will take place in Colorado at a conference. While traveling together, they hit a number of complications and end up in a motel in the mountains during a blizzard.

But when Seth opens his door to Parisa in only a pair of gray sweatpants and his normal smirk, things change between them. We should have known by the way the two of them snipe at one another at work that their chemistry would be off the charts whenever they gave in to one another. What was supposed to be an out of the office couple of nights together turns into a whole lot more.

I love how their work friends, Parisa’s sister and Seth’s parents’ non-profit are a big part of their story. I’m a sucker for anything to do with volunteering. And reading the story from each of their points of view is always a plus in my book.

The heat in this book kept me up way past my bedtime (which I am NOT complaining about). Gia Stevens knows how to write characters that came get on each other’s nerves and then flip to sizzling together on the page. I’m all in with this new-to-me author… can’t wait to read whatever she writes next!
