On Wings of Fallen Stars

Rate this book
"One does not learn to fly without taking a leap. And one has to fall to be caught."

Nomi is a young druid finally taking the chance to spread her wings and leave her home. To see the world and discover its magic, beauty… and maybe love. Calia is a dragon on the hunt for angels, trying to square an old debt. That, and to get Laura, her desired bondmate, to finally return to her side, where she belongs.

Nomi immediately catches the eye of the powerful dragons. Calia entices her with honeyed words and a skillful tongue. On the other hand, Laura, much smaller but equally intimidating, takes it upon herself to protect her.

Despite the warnings, Nomi can’t help being drawn to Calia's charm, her power, her fangs… and the hidden gentleness in her eyes. She promises danger where Laura promises safety, and Nomi is torn between the two. Luckily there is a convenient cult out for the dragons’ heads, providing Nomi with ample distraction and at least one dragon egg to steal, hatch, and raise by herself. Perfectly normal things for a young transgender druid to get involved in!

In the clutches of dragons, battling dark forces from beyond the stars, Nomi faces the questions of who she is and who she wants to be. Whether she deserves the love offered to her, and what it truly takes to earn her wings...

THIS WAS SO GOOD!! Crying over these lesbians forever.

Seriously go get this book! It's on sale right now through all ebook retailers!

FUCKING LOVED THIS!!! New favorite! This one is definitely more character focused, but it's done so in a way that you can't help but care about Nomi and watching her relationships unfold with the other people in this story. Nomi is so curious and I loved seeing her grow and get to discover what she wants.

We learn just enough about this world to see how a series could unfold around the main characters. Also labels on page, I love them so much!! This book was everything I wanted from it. I need the rest of the series immediately!

A Great Adventure!

I really enjoyed everything about this book and can't wait to read the next installment! Dragons and magic and cuties everywhere. Romance and friendship and love come together to create a really intriguing family dynamic that I kindof, most likely, definitely want to be a part of. Will absolutely read again!

Amazing story!

I really enjoyed the second book in the Hearts and Dreams series. I love all the characters and enjoyed reading about the newest addition to the group, Nomi. This book has it all from dragons to magic to cuddles. There were some moments i wanted to hit the characters upside the head, but in a loving way. Definitely recommend reading this series!

She Who Earned Her Wings is a book I absolutely enjoyed. It's cozy and low stress with wonderful dragon polyam romance that absolutely made me swoon.

During the first parts of the book it took me a while to get into it. I kept wanting to read but it drained me because of the amount of characters introduced. Because damn this book has a lot of characters. It think it would have benefitted from a list of characters in the back to keep track of everyone.

The characters were however, also why I kept reading because I absolutely enjoyed all of them. Nomi as our main character is absolutely lovely, but so are many of the others she meets. It has this great aspect of cozy fantasy where almost everyone is just sweet, earnest and genuinely wants to help each other. This is miles away from our own reality, but damn is it nice to disappear in a world where it is.

The second half of the book though I couldn't put it down and absolutely devoured it. The story picked up and the romance got more intense and it was just such a joy to read. I was smiling so so much while reading and had a really good time.

I received an eARC in return for an honest review.

As a reader who enjoys queer fiction, fantasy, and character-driven stories that revolve around people with whom you'd like to hang out all the time, I had a good time with She Who Earned Her Wings. Having previously read another book by the author team, Moonlight Love and Witchcraft, I was already geared up for their writing style, so it helped to set my expectations for what I'll get out of She Who Earned Her Wings. Lovable characters, the fantasy setting, positive queer rep, a healthy exploration of polyamorous relationships and what they mean to the partners involved—these are all elements that I vibed with. The ACAB attitude is a nice touch, too. All in all, I'm glad I checked this out, and I'll be looking forward to consuming more of Vaela and Micah's work.
