Genre: Multicultural Shape-Shifter Paranormal

Deep in the heart of the Amazon Jungle, an ancient breeding race begins...

Ever since she was jilted by her lover, Aleta had been subjected to humiliation by her Jaguarundi tribe. Not anymore. She is determined to emerge from her final Cria unmated, and finally be free of tribal traditions and her overbearing father. Aleta has plans -- bigger plans than her father's desire to see her marked by some oafish warrior in an outdated breeding competition. After the Cria she'll move to the city and start fresh, leaving her clan -- and her broken heart -- behind. Unfortunately, the past is unwilling to let her go.

Forced to abandon Aleta when he went into exile, Luiz knows that this Cria will be his last chance to reclaim what is rightfully his. When a surprise encounter doesn't go exactly as planned, he realizes it will take more than a little seduction for Aleta to forgive the sins of the past. The race is on, and the battle of wills has begun. Everyone knows that in the Cria anything can happen, and with the stakes this high, all bets are off.

If one's craving is for hot jungle love with some story in between then this will do the trick.

For me, I needed a more substantive plot. I enjoyed the worldbuilding aspect of this jungle cats shifter world deep in the Amazon and even appreciated the dynamics of the three way situation between two shifter groups and trouble with the humans.
But the heroine's back and forth bit, the hero using sex to distract her, and the constant mating heat kept being a distraction.

So it was okay.

An intriguing start to the series, I am a little confused about the different clans but I think it will be cleared up as the series goes on. Big cat shifters are my weakness, so I will be continuing :)

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After having her heart broken, Aleta has wanted nothing more than to finally be able to leave behind the outdated traditions of her tribe and start a new life in the city, leaving behind her old life and trying to start new. All she has to do is make it through one more competition and she's home free.

At least, that was how things were supposed to go.

But all of that changes when Luiz walks back into her life. The very man that broke her heart and she never expected to see again.

The chemistry between Aleta and Luiz is strong, and it's very interesting to see these two together. Aleta is a strong female lead, and Luiz is a great male lead that's the perfect match for her.

I don't want to give away too much, so you'll have to read it for yourself to see how things work out for them, and if Luiz is able to fix the damage he did when he broke Aleta's heart all of those years ago. But I will say that if you enjoy a fast paced, shifter romance, with a HEA, then I definitely recommend that you check out this book!

Cria by Suzanne Rock is a steamy love story set in the Brazilian Rain Forest. It grabs you at the sound of the horn and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. Drama, suspense, danger and several sex scenes to keep the story interesting!

Aleta and Luis have not seen each other in ten years when he left her and the tribe of the Jaguarundi her father is Chief of. Aleta's father is old fashioned in all tribal laws. He is unwilling to bend or change with progress. Not being mated after ten races Aleta's father will allow her to leave the tribe. But, Aleta does not make it through this race without being caught! She is mated to Luis during this, her last race, forcing her to leave her father's tribe anyway, to join her mate's tribe. Can he prove to her he won't hurt her again? Is his tribe more modern or just as unbending? Now she has to prove herself to the members of her new tribe in order for them to accept her. And hopefully she and her mate can be equal partners.

Aleta is a jaguar shifter princess who is in her last year of "mating eligibility" in the traditional Cria Race. She is determined to make it through without being claimed so she can leave the tribe and be free of all the tribal rules and diatribes. Aleta has had her heart broken and wants nothing to do with romance, love, or men.

Luiz was Aleta's fathers warrior and promised to Aleta, but suddenly he leaves the tribe with no explanation. Suddenly, he reappears claiming a long lasting love has lived in his heart for Aleta, but can she trust him again? Will the mating heat over-rule her logic? Can she escape those who want to she her perish?

This is a fast moving shifter romance with so much heat that you need a cold shower after reading it. The connection between Luiz an Aleta is so strong, you can see how there is one match in shifter communities. I cannot wait to see where this story goes.

This is an interesting story about the battle between the different shifting breeds. They are fighting among themselves as well as against the humans. I figure they are breeds of jungle cats. The heroine Aleta is running her last Cria for her freedom from her over bearing father and the past heartbreak from Luiz who was supposed to have claimed her. He went into exile causing humiliation and ridicule for Aleta/father. She is almost free until she confronted by her past. Luiz is back to claim her for his own. He is building his own clan and wants her to stand with him. It's a battle of between them and a whole lot more. It has twist and turns. I look forward to the next book to see where this leads.

This is the set up and book one of the series and is about Aleta and Luiz. I won’t recap the story but I think it lays out the basis for the next stories – but it IS a standalone. It’s just if you want to know more, you’ll have to read more books. The story was okay, in my opinion, but I will keep reading the series to see if my questions are answered. It was written well, just a bit confusing for me. I will say that I was reading it AFTER I had surgery so I may not have been in the best of minds. I blame me and not the author. I will give it four stars because of that.

Was okay for a free read.

It starts off with a mating ritual, and one woman fighting for her freedom, that is until the man she was meant to mate turns up, 9 years too late. She's not going to give in too easily she tells herself, that is before the feline in heat hormones kicks in!

The book talks about lots of clans of shifters and builds a world that's a little tense on the edge of war.

There is a lot of sex in the book and it's hot, but I do think it needed more characther development.

Okay for a quick read.

Great Story

I enjoyed the story. There is a lot of intensity and action as they see each other after a long separation. She thought she would be free of her father's old ways. Now, the man who abandoned her is back to claim her. She wants to fight but the connection is too strong. He won't lose her again.

I liked the characters. She is determined to be an equal or be on her own. He left thinking it was safest but never intended to hurt her. He wants forever. They are strong minded and not willing to settle for less.

I had received a bunch of books to stuff my kindle and this was one of them. This was about a mating ritual in the middle of the jungle between two shape shifters. You have one female fighting for her right to be free after being cruelly abandoned by her lost love. I could not stand the guy in this at all. He was a controlling jerk and she did not fight for herself very much at all. She just gave in almost immediately that was vey annoying.

I received a free copy of this book. It took me a little while to start this book, to be honest, as I'm not typically a fan of "jungle romance", but I was quite surprised by this story. So much that I highly recommend this book and have already started reading the second book in this series. I didn't want to put this book down when I started reading, but eating and sleeping are just as important as reading, according to other people.

Aleta has always came second. She wants to be treated as an equal. After being jilted by who she thought loved her. She is finally seeing the end. The place where she can finally attain freedom. Then Luiz returns. Will she get her freedom? Will she be able to deny the burning passion and still break free?

One of my favorite author's!

Aleta and Ruiz have a love story that lasts years. And that's before they even get together.
There are always challenges to overcome, but love concurs all.

Great Book

The author is very talented and creative. Loved the characters chemistry and the ways they wanted to change old traditions. Once you start reading it's hard to put down because you just want to know more. Interesting story and a must buy.
