About the Book
Organizing for Success, Second Edition provides simple, remarkably effective time management technique to help reders get two extra productive hours out of every day. The book uses “The Master List” concept to show readers how to budget their time and energy by the day, week, and month. Readers will learn how to quickly prioritize their goals, complete tasks on time and under budget, and even helps readers plan for the interruptions, urgent emails, and unexpected meetings that will inevitably attack their day. This new edition places heavier emphasis on technology, including advice on how to write, manage and file email more effectively; how to use Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office to streamline the day; and how to use devices like Blackberries and social media as assets and time-savers, rather than as distractions and time sinks. I'm Ken Zeigler, author of the Tears of heaven series. I've been writing stories since junior high school; science fiction short stories mostly. I attended Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, way back when it was still called Shippensburg State College. I hold a masters degree in chemistry, and did my graduate research in quantum mechanics.... I openly profess Jesus Christ to be my personal lord and savior.
It wasn't always that way. The change in my life came about as the result of a near death experience when I was eighteen years old, during my freshman year in college. The circumstances of that experience were so remarkable that my life hasn't been the same since. Indeed, for me, the age of miracles has just begun.
I have taught chemistry, physics, and astronomy at both the high school and college level. Currently, I teach at University High School in Tolleson, Arizona. During my career in science, I've concentrated mostly on the study of asteroids, the tiny planetoids that circle the sun mainly between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. I have been an educational consultant for NASA on the Messenger Mercury Program.
I have a wife who I have been married to for 25 years. I also have two wonderful step-children. My professional writing career didn't officially begin until 1997, with the publishing of my first book; The Waters of Ulan, which was actually an off beat vampire story set in the South Pacific before World War II.
Now, I write only books with a Christian theme. Yet, I truly believe that these books will appeal to both Christians and non-Christians alike. Welcome to the new world.

A decent guide to controlling your time vs time controlling you - in the author's words, you are the ringmaster instead of the beast. There are loads of tips but the main premise is the primary way to organize your day is via a "master list". This list is a dump for all the bits and pieces of your life - work and personal. From this list, you plan your work and time around what is the best use of the time you have available. The author also recommends that you work on your "veggies" - those items that you know you should do, but that are hard to swallow. I think Covey would say that these are the items that are not urgent but are important. Many good take-aways but nothing earth-shattering.

I have read several books on organizing and time management and this is by far the BEST ONE. I checked it out of the library and I am so impressed that I will purchase a copy to own. Every parent should give this to their child before entering the professional world. This an idiot proof guide that gives SPECIFIC instructions on how to manage your day and the inevitable interruptions that come with it. Great book. Buy it!

This was a useful book that I breezed through earlier this year, but kept open for periodic reference.

While there is not earth-shattering tips to change your life, there are LOTS and LOTS of best practices. From how to run a meeting, to keeping a master list.

I think this book is valuable for leaders at every level to think about how one spends their day and how to be more effective. I have certainly taken away a few tips:
- How I write emails: clear subject lines, BLUF, background, discussion, way ahead.

- Turned off the email notifications on my computer that made me trend toward attention deficit syndrome.

- Be more thoughtful on when I scheduled events during the day.

- Use of a master list.....and lots more.

Everyone will get something from this book. It is worthy of a routine review / continuous nudge.

I love his Master List idea. I am using it already. It's biggest benefits are the step 1, step 2 practical applications. I think these may get me the time to do what Covey and Smith say in their books.

This book is awesome! Very readable, easy to follow, clear and consise enough to use as a reference when you slip back into wasting time and decreased efficiency.

Not a bad book, but also not terribly helpful. I would have likely appreciated this book much earlier in my career, but does not offer many new ideas.
