Call Number: H62.T244 2010

Description: A look into the controversial topic of mixed methods and the effects they have on people with social/behavioral issues.

Relevance and Relationship: Would be relevant to students in the new Social Work Major being offered at the university, or anyone who would want to gain more perspective about the methods used for social and behavioral issues.

Purpose: To provide an in-depth view of the pros and cons of mixed methodology for behavioral/social issues.

Validity: Reasonably priced at $151. Would be a specialized tool for students in the new Social Work concentration, which needs a wider variety of titles.

Format: Published in 2010. 893 pages.

Arrangement and Presentation: Arranged as a study of the varying viewpoints concerning mixed methodology for behavioral/social issues. Includes specific examples from a wide range of disciplines, and also tools such as learning objectives, discussion questions, and extensive cross-referencing.

Diversity: Would be useful for students studying behavioral/social issues, or students who would like to know more about their own mixed behaviors.

This is an excellent book that provide a good understanding of the mixed methods research. It provides a good introduction, the different mixed methods designs, the philosophical background and recent update in the field. It also provides examples and applications of all the designs.
Given that mixed methods is a growing field of research methods with more of articles than compiled books, this book is a good place to start with if you intend to carry out a mixed methods.
