Trenton Vittelli recently moved into the city with his mother. She found a job working at Clive's hair salon down the street. At only the age of 14, Trenton fell in love with Clive, who tells him they can't be together until he is of proper age. In the meantime, Trenton spy on Clive when he takes his "special clients" into his station. Eventually, Clive tells him to accept an exchange program to Paris for 9 months, hoping for Trenton to find someone else before they can be together. Things don't work out very well in Paris, although his host's family's son does show an interest.

This first in the Clive series was very wonderful to read! It deals with the traumatic issues of first love, rape, continued love, acceptance, world travel and similar themes. It really was an enjoyable read due to being well written and having a well thought out plot.

I especially loved how Clive was an upstanding citizen and did the "right thing" although he was a homosexual and into the dominant scene. He is definitely is portrayed as a contrast to what the mainstream see homosexuals as being (let alone those in the dominant/submissive culture!)

Too short to really afford any serious character development. I liked how the author dealt with one particular event and the message she sent through it. But without this, Clean Sweep is a simple romance between a Dominant hair stylist and the teenage son of one of his employees. The sequel should follow their relationship, and hopefully there the elements that lacked in the first part are given a better attention.
