Templar Chronicles #2

A Scream of Angels

Rate this book
The men of the Echo Team are back for another action-packed Templar adventure!

Three years ago an archaeological expedition led by Vatican scholar Juan Vargas discovered something unusual on the shores of the Dead Sea. Early the next morning, Father Vargas, and the artifact he uncovered, disappeared without a trace.

Until now.

An injured and badly dehydrated Father Vargas wanders out of the New Mexican desert, telling a wild story about a secret research installation and bloodthirsty demons hunting men through its halls. When word of his survival reaches the Vatican and those in charge of the Templar Order, the Echo Team is called in to deal with the situation. Their orders - investigate the facility, determine exactly what happened there, and deal with any infernal presence that might exist.

But the being they encounter there beneath the desert sands has found a way to break the bonds of Hell itself and doesn't plan on going back easily. This time, their foe might prove to be too much for even Cade and the men of Echo Team.

...humm, I don't know. The book is pretty interesting. I kind of liked the first volume and followed it up.

I don't know what to tell you. The Templar Knights come out looking better here than they have in a lot of fiction. Reinvested into the church they now fight supernatural threats and the intrusion of evil powers into the world.

Our protagonist is the recipient of unusual and special powers that have made him suspect but on the other hand also make him, come in handy. In the first book we found something out about how this happened and the loss of his wife that was integral to it all.

He's never gotten over that loss.

The book itself is full of action and I suppose stays true to the world and system already set up...though that system is still a bit, mailable.

I suppose I'll get the next book, but not right away. Pretty good, some odd parts...don't take this story as actually having anything to do with Christian belief by the way.

Not bad.

Templar Chronicles: 2
Set a few weeks after the previous book. Unlike the unrelenting mass carnage in the previous book, this one is more on the Resident Evil, horror mystery side, though there's still a high body count. This book is shorter than the last. I can't help thinking the author could have padded it out with some character development. He's created an interesting cast of characters but only gives glimpses of their personalities. More progress on the background Cade vengeance arc. The ending kind of fizzles out with a Deus Ex fix for the Big Bad. Am interested enough to want to read the next book in the series.

Another solid entry in the Templar Chronicles series.

Knight Commander Cade Williams is a modern day Templar Knight who kicks ass and takes names. He takes on monsters, demons, fallen angels and anything else that evil can throw at him.

Buy and read this book. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait to start the next one in the series.

If the first book was considered "Urban Fantasy" this one jumps ship into "suspense/horror" and still has the great characters from the first book!

A cool thrilling read!

This book isn’t an advanced read, its rather a relaxing and fun read. Which you may want to get after you read something very heavy. Generally this book isn’t a good book but it isn’t either a bad book, mostly it is an okay book.

This book is interesting but it’s not even close to what I’ve expected from it. This book is fun to read but it also have a lot of boring or even cringe parts every now and then. It isn’t a big deal after all.

The writing style is for the most part decent, it isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. There are some moments which made me feel like it could have been written better. There are also stuff which have would better instead of the stuff which was actually written in the book. In the end these are small things but together they are actually not so small. However this book or the book series isn’t for the most part meant for someone PH.D degree, but rather for teens who likes to read.

There are couple of plot holes in this book. an example can be the mirror-traveling-ish. There are a lot of magic in this book which I found confusing and hard to follow with. One of the main plot holes which blow my mind was at the beginning of the book when one of the main characters magically healed out of nowhere after being injured and almost dying

The characters are okay. Most of them were like pretty okay, they weren’t interesting enough but there weren’t neither completely trashy. The main characters was some kind of better than the side characters. Because you could feel the relationship which they had with each other.

This whole book feels like something which kids in grade school would read. But it also works fine for adults who are starting their adventure with fantasy books or books in general. Because it is an easy to understand book and you don’t need to have PH.D degree in fantasy knowledge to like and understand this book. It is a good book when you want to shut down your brain and just relax for a moment.

This book works fine as long as you don’t question anything which is happening in this book. Stupid decisions taken by the characters is also something to keep in mind if you considering to read this book.

The story itself feels like it was used somewhere, but in the end it is good and pretty interesting overall.

Words do not do justice to this review I’m trying to write. I’m having a hard time writing it without spoilers. It was so amazing! It reads like an action packed Christian fiction, but if I say that, we have readers who steer clear thinking it would be preachy. I’m here to tell you , this isn’t the case. There are creatures the team must deal with. Only their weapons that are old holy artifacts that have been blessed really work well. We see Kade sort of grow more powerful. And what’s up with Riley? He went all badass on the otherworldly creature. Listen to this audiobook. The narrator is so amazing with different voices. I can’t wait for the next one. I really like how the author used scripture in the story. And how the creatures had come through the veil, (Nassise, forgive me if I’ve told this wrong. ) Gosh I love this series.

If you like gung-ho, "go for broke" military stories, this is a good book. There is a decent story here, but it is full of flying bullets (and a little swordplay). I like this series, but the author needs to spend more time making Echo team seem like humans. Cade and Duncan have some depth, but everyone else is almost interchangeable.

The thing that annoys me the most about this book is the fact that Echo team does not get themselves out of the problems they run into. They get lucky a lot, and the biggest save is almost-literally a deus ex machina.

I gave charitable 3 * for the first book, but I just can't even finish the second one. It's just too much for someone with a brain. Holes on top of the holes, and stupidity of the story line is killing me, and the characters. I'd really like to like them and in some measure I do, just the author is doing them a real disservice. After reading about Cade being injured, maybe dying and his team member Duncan doesn't heal him first thing (especially that they are in dire danger) its just too much. Wherever the author wants to prove, in my opinion, he fails. Shooting at shit is nothing.

So this book seemed to take forever to get through, mainly because I read about 3/4 of it, stopped to move to a different state and completely forgot about it until recently. Needless to say, when I went back to it, my brain worked with me for once, and I was able to pick back up where I left off storywise. Overall, this was a good book. Unlike book 1, which I thought was somewhat boring (I gave it a 2 star), I liked this one a lot more. There were a few grammatical errors throughout it though, but thankfully, nothing too distracting.

A Scream of Angels (The Templar Chronicles #2), I very much enjoyed my second read from author Joseph Nassise. I'd read The Heretic back in February of 2017 and recently was given an Audible copy of A Tear in the Sky (book 3), since it was so long since I'd read The Heretic it was worth re-reading so I bought the audio box set. Well-written, fast-paced and entertaining I look forward to reading A Tear in the Sky, Templar Chronicles, Book 3. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

The second book on the Templar Chronicles builds on the Echo Team’s success from the first book. This episode follows Cade’s team as the try to learn what happened to one of the church’s archeologists. Along with being action packed this story is filled with paranormal occurrences as well as some religious history. Once again Jarret Lemaster’s narration really brings the story alive.

A very different type of book.

A very different type of book, If Jason Bourne was a Knight Templar he would have fit in with the Templar Group. Will definitely read the rest of the books in the series. Not a horror story except for what could be walking the earth. Hope for a merciful God.

It's alright. I'm getting used to some of Nassise's quirks - one of which is knowing that Duncan is going to have an almost dead body put in front of him with regularity and will say to himself, "What can I do? What should I do? OH WAIT I CAN HEAL PEOPLE WITH MY HANDS"

This author knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat!

One of the best supernatural thriller I've read in a long time. Well worth the effort. The characters are so well developed and the plots are excellent. You would do well to read the entire series.

Once again Joe Bassist has written a masterpiece battle of moral men fighting on the side of Heaven.

Joe has given us one heck of a story. Cade once again leads Echo against the evil adversary. They go up against true evil.

Enjoyed this second entry just as much as the first one, if not a bit more. The plot was a bit tighter and I've always liked books that take place in one central setting throughout. On to the third volume!

I picked up the "Templar Chronicles" series as part of a book bundle not too long ago, and the random number generator that I have picking books out of my monstrous pile of "to read" books has me reading the second one already.

This book continues with the exploits of Echo Team, an elite strike force within the Knights Templar, which are reborn in this modern age as the Catholic Church's secret army against the forces of supernatural evil. Echo is led by Knight Commander Cade, who obtained a handful of powers after an encounter with a fallen angel left his wife dead and himself horribly scarred.

I bring this up (I usually don't summarize the book in my Goodread's reviews because a)everyone else does so it's a bit redundant and b) there is usually a summary at the top of the page so it is even more redundant) because the book started off pretty strong with this storyline, with Cade . However, this is put by the wayside of the main plot of the book. Don't get me wrong, the main plot of the book is alright, but the intro build is lost. Also ?

Despite abandoning what I thought was the more interesting plot line, the rest of the book is a solid bit of supernatural action. My only real gripe, and this is just a personal pet peeve of mine, is that .

All told, I've enjoyed my time with with the "Templar Chronicles" thus far, and look forward to when volume 3 comes up next on the to-read list.

The second book in the Templar Chronicles, A Scream of Angels essentially begins where The Heretic left off, just a few months difference. Knight Commander Cade Williams has been spending a lot of time Beyond, searching for Gabrielle, his murdered wife. When found, he is in very bad shape and isn’t expected to live but, somehow, one of the team, Sgt. Sean Duncan, appears to have healed him. However Sean doesn’t think he did.

On the hunt for a new group of supernaturals, Cade and his team are forced to enter a place of pure evil – inhabited by an angel. What the Angel wants is beside the point, it’s what Echo Team delivers to him that is crucial. And the means of that deliverance couldn’t be more prophetic.

An exciting tale what will more than hold your interest while scaring you to pieces! The Templar Chronicles will reel you in and doesn’t let go until it’s all over. This could be a sensation on the screen and I hope it makes it there. Hollywood couldn’t write any better.

This is the second book in the series and it did not let me down. Cade Williams is still trying to find his deceased wife and the creature that took her from him. But until then he has another assignment. A priest has been found nearly dead with a message that will change them all. Investigating a suspicious site, they discover that science has dappled where it should never tread. Cade and his men face their own fears and that of the dark other side as they try to defeat a being that should not exist.
Action in this book is continuous. Just when you think it could be winding down, it starts again as more questions arise and fewer answers are found. The author is very talented in keeping the characters consistent and interesting. I loved how so much of the supernatural is brought in while the physical world is not abandoned.
Great characters. Great actions. Great story. Can’t want to read the next book.
Note: I purchased this book with my own funds with no expectation of a positive review.
