Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
The earlier Tanner novels had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Now the books have become serials defined as extensions of the previous books with a teaser ending. It helps sell quickly written sections s of the story while making sure Tanner always lives on. Kane's a better writer than than "Perils of Pauline". Or at least used to be.
This series has always provided me with a great deal of enjoyment, and “Double Dead” doesn’t break the mold.
The characters are extremely well developed and the plot line is exciting, which makes it hard to put aside.
The author ties up some loose ends from previous books, while at the same time dropping clues to future releases.
I will never miss a release of this series as long as it continues.
Yes, I received an ARC copy prior to its release in exchange for agreeing to write an honest review. This is that review.
I Highly Recommend this book, but I also recommend starting with book #1 for “full enjoyment” (backstory is too important).
Thank you Remington Kane until the next release.
Yes, I’m ARC Reader, and as such I received a copy of this book prior to its release in “exchange” for my opinion, and to provide the author with any errors, or plot holes, I found within the “ARC Copy”. I also agreed to provide an “HONEST” Review on the book’s date of release. This is that review, and is based solely upon my personal enjoyment of “Double Dead”.
I've known from the very first book that I read of Remington Kane's, that I had found an amazing Author. Now I know when a new one is coming out and I make sure I don't have anything that will keep me from my reading of it. It continues to amaze me as I am reading how dependent I've become to reading about Tanner and his experience along with Henry's as well. When I read Mr. Kane's dedication to his readers of Tanner, it made me smile. I have been captivated by this Author from the beginning of Cody Parker training to become Tanner. I'm just thankful at the time that it was a new series for me and ongoing. Along with his Taken series, Jake Caliber and Blue Steele are also some of my favorites. You know when you start to read a new book, whether you're going to be up all night or not. I can honestly say that each and every one of Remington Kane's books has done that for me. They are that good. I know I often catch myself wondering what new adversities Tanner will face next. Omg, I was notified Mr. White is coming soon as well.
So… It’s an amazing feat 50 books in the series. I can only think of one in all that time that wasn’t enthralling and entertaining. The books are generally short and essentially books 48/49/50 are about the same thing. I think that’s fine and why not spread a story a little more broadly? The problem is it could have been cut by a third and the ending (which isn’t an ending), made much longer and more satisfying (to a proper ending). A real shame, the series didn’t deserve this. Overall the plodding nature of these last three books that, could have been capped an amazing Half Century becomes farcical. A real eye roll from anyone who likes this genre of books and this series.
The cat and mouse finally ends in a blaze of fire. This story did not disappoint in any manner. Right from the first chapter to the very last you are on the edge of your seat and lets just say probably bitting your nails also. Loved every moment, especially the meet and greet. I loved that Sara stands up for her man. We finally get a glimpse into Soulless life and we find that even someone as despicable as Soulless wants to go home. This was not only worth the wait but all the reading time devoted to reading it. If you haven't started this series you are missing out on one heck of an adventure!
Double dad takes you on a trip around the world to Russia and back to Texas or does it? Soulless has infiltrated Stark, Texas, right under the nose of Tanner and Henry. What becomes vengeance against Tanner and Henry creates an unknown path of which Tanner and Henry must follow. The series of events build and build up to a large explosion and when it looks like Tanner isn’t going to make it, an unknown man from the past comes into his vision. But does this man tend to help or create harm?
Just as good as all the books in Tanner series. Remington Kane writes a few series that intertwine and the others are as technical, action packed and emotionally dynamic as Tanners 50. Soulless has surprised everyone with his last scheme that has hurt ones closest to Tanner. Many others become victims which causes a reward to be posted and the hunt for Soulless is on and Tanner has the most reason to finally end this nightmare. Kane has a masterful mind and his books are awesome.
I have read all 50 of the Tanner series and will happily read 50 more. No matter what I'm reading I will stop if a Tanner book shows up. I'm so addicted to this author. His White series is also great and would love to see more of White & Prey. You will love this author. GUARANTEE!!!!!
I have read the entire Tanner series from book 1 through book50 and have anxiously awaited each and every one. This is the very best of all of the many many books and series I have read over many years of reading and have enjoyed each and every one of them, waiting impatiently for number 51 and hope it is not the last. Thank you Remington Kane for all of the hours of reading you have provided.
I've read just about all this guy's books & now that's he's resorted to using cliffhangers I won't b reading any more of his books. If you need to resort to such lowbrow tactics then you've definitely lost your edge. Goodbye Remington Kane - it was good for a while but you just couldn't keep up with the big boys.
Loved this Chapter of death and destruction. Tanner at his best and Henry close behind. Finally the worst assassin is no longer near. But a new threat remains. I can’t wait for the next Chapter. This has and still is a cliff hanger.
Oh, hell yes, that's a helluva way to finally end this chapter in Tanner's life!! Although somewhat anticlimactic in its brevity, it's everything you'd expect from the master assassin.
Is this the final saga of soulless VS Tanner? Who will prevail. Once you start you can’t stop. Sir Kane has done it again, 50 books strong with no sign of stopping the action. So go ahead and start reading and wish that this book never ends the same as I did.
