When she mixes business with pleasure, embarking on a passionate affair with Christophe Jensen, a new lawyer in her firm, attorney Tia Edwards must choose between her family and her future when Christophe is summoned back to France. Original.
You’re All I Need is a pretty decent book. But I do feel that it can get lost in the rumble. The main character is a woman who has just gotten out of an unsupportive relationship. When she meets a French Man who so happens to be white it doesn’t take long for their romance to boil over. I however did enjoy the book but some of the characters weren’t interesting and towards the end it dwelled too much on a mother-daughter relationship verses the romance between the two main characters. It is well written but it unfortunately isn’t my highly recommended reads and I will more likely forget it.
Okay I really liked this one. The characters were well written. Chris & Tia were white hot together and I was rooting for them from the moment they met. I love that we were givin a glimpse of the everyday working lives of these people involved. From their families to their friends. Everything was very realistic not far fetched or hard to imagine. Some could argue that this is what made it kinda boring, but I say that's what made it interesting. The only one I could not stand in this story is Tia's mother. Although she did the right thing in the end which is what she should have done in the beginning, this did not redeem her @ all in my eyes. Bottom line: This woman is a straight up BIGOT! I don't care how certain explanations were made to try to soften this fact. Maybe it's because I know that people like this still exist, maybe it's because not only am I the product if an interracial relationship, I happen to be married to a white man who is the father of our child. Maybe it's all of the above and the fact that manipulation is a sure way to get popped in my book. People have died for much much less.
All in all I do feel as though towards the end, the story focused way too much on Tia and her issues with her mom but I understand why, it's just that it took something from the HEA. Which was still good, it just could have been better. OH did I mention how hot Chris was?!!! I would certainly recommend this read. =)
Tia Edwards is doing her boss a favor when she agrees to act as a guide for a French lawyer from the home office of her company. She never expected to fall for Christophe Jensen. He's handsome, kind, funny, educated and caters to her every need---nearly everything her boyfriend, Darnell, was not. Chris is drawn to Tia immediately but when she lets him know that she is already in a relationship, he decides to remain in her life as a friend. Then Darnell is found cheating on Tia and Chris seizes the chance to romance Tia. Though everyone around them can see that Chris is clearly enarmored of Tia there is a slight problem: Chris is white and this soon causes problems with Tia's family once Chris makes his intentions known.
This is a good read however, for me, I would have liked for their to be a little more resolution to the issues presented in the book. Racial issues aside, Tia's twin sister and mother are constantly at each other's throats and the real reason behind their rocky relationship is not addressed until the end of the book. (Maybe there is another story in this from White-Owens)? Also, the ending is a bit unfinished for me. I like to interject my own theory about what happens after THE END as much as anyone but I was left looking for at least one more chapter. Though this wasn't my favorite from this author, I will be picking up her books in the future.
This is a story with a twist and I liked it, but was not satisfied by.
Tia Edwards wants to make it in her chosen career whilst also maintaining a healthy relationship with her boyfriend, when it all goes downhill (Okay, it went downhill with the boyfriend, not her job), can anyone help her mend her broken heart?
Tia (Tia-Mia) works in a big French company in Detroit. Her boss, Adam, promises her a place of a legal clerk when she starts law school.Tia has a twin sister, Nia.They look alike, but are different in everything.Nia is a hairdresser, outspoken and clashes with their mother, Jackie.Tia is the youngest in 5 kids, there is the eldest brother (Greg Jr) and another pair of twins.I find it strange they share the same name- Andrew and Andre. There is also Jackie's mother, Ruth, also very outspoken. A new lawyer arrives from France, Christoph (Chris) Jensen. Now Jensen isn't a French surname, it's Scandinavian.Adam asks Tia to help Chris to settle down. Tia and Chris become friends, they like each other and spend time together..Only Chris is blond and blue-eyed white, while Tia is ...black.We don't realize the fact at the beginning. Chris himself comes from a big Catholic family-he has 8 siblings ! He dislikes when people treat Tia differently or ignore her because she is black. Then Chris meets her family. Jackie and Ruth distrust him because he is white, while the others like him.At one point Chris proposes to Tia, only to get a NO from Jackie ! could it be because Tia is her favourite and Jackie tries to control her life? Everything changes when Chris must return to Paris and wants Tia to come with him.Jackie interferes and makes Tia promise to stay while Ruth is in a rehab after a surgery. Towards the end of the book Nia confronts her mother. She always felt second best, but now she fights for her sister's happiness. The book has interracial issues (not enough- we don't know how Chris's family will treat Tia, will she be accepted in France),it's lively and funny.Otherwise it's a bit sugary.
A good book that was well written. The Tia character kind of got on my nerves because she let her momma rule her. The mother played favorites and caused discord in her family.
First of all I have to say that Tia's mom gets on my nerves. She is so hell bent on having Tia around that she will do anything to keep her in Detroit.
Chris is a lawyer coming from France to a the legal department where Tia works. Sparks fly as soon as they meet, but Tia already has a boyfriend Darnell. The relationship between Tia and Darnell wasn't the greatest. Tia's twin Nia sees Darnell with another woman and tell's Tia.
Whenever Tia is around Chris she just can't help how she feels about him, but she isn't sure about how he feels about her. It would have been nice if this book would have gone back and forth between Chris and Tia and have his point of view too.
One problem with Chris is that he is white and Tia is black. Tia's grandmother totally hates whites. She says you can't trust them. She thinks they are tricky and sneaky. Tia's mother really doesn't like Chris either because of the fact that he is white.
Tia and Chris do end up dating despite what Tia's grandma and mom think, but then Chris gets called back to France. Tia's grandma is in the hospital and she really wants to be with her and her family. Tia's mom is begs her to stay and says they need her help. Mia tells Tia that her mom is just trying to keep her in Michigan. She said the family can take care of grandma just fine. Tia doesn't know what to do. You have to read this to find out how it ends!
This book was very good and I would definitely recommend people read it!
this was my first read by this author. i wasn't impressed. i thought the premise was good but the way it's written it was pretty dull. there was no real excitement in the story or surprise. the main characters seemed like they had no emotion and their personalities were unrealistic; specially Chris. i was looking for something interesting and was actually pretty bored. i pretty much knew how the book would end too and that was disappointing. based off this book i don't think i'll read more by this author. maybe with time this author will improve on her pizzaz with the characters.
I really enjoyed this book. I don't think the black/white issue was dwelled upon like others mentioned. It was talked about just as much as it needed to be. Chris was just too cute for words, and Tia was so independent, but listened to her mother at the drop of a hat. That was really the only annoying part for me. I would love to read a follow up with Nia....that seems like it would be a god read.
A GOOD read...I ENJOY the way Chris treats Tia...this tale is DEFINITELY full of DRAMA from Tia's family (especially the mother)...but all in all it was a decent enough read...the second book in this series I Can Make You Love Me is still my favorite...and I hope the author does a follow-up on Nia Edwards.
this was a really good romance novel. I enjoyed both the characters. Chris, the male character was so charming and handsome while Tia had some issues to resolve with her family, she was a character that you could identify with and enjoy reading about. This was a fast and easy read. something to get your mind off of real life.
This was a great book. Tia made me angry at times letting her mother manipulate her and the fact that she wasn't even realizing that it was happening did not make any sense. But I understand the love and respect she has for her family and her mother. Chris did good to stand his ground with her where her family was concerned and THANK YOU NIA for telling mom how it is.
The story was cute, I just felt like not a lot happened. The challenge the characters had to overcome didn't present enough complications. I also wish that the race issue was addressed more in the story. The fact that the heroine was African American and the hero a Caucasian male and the complications that come with that was only touched on lightly.
Loved this book on interracial love. Tia and Chris's love was spot on. Tim's mother was typical where she did not want to let her daughter leave the nest. She was also concerned about the problems the couple would endure. Outcome was great.
Great book! Really enjoyed the chemistry and I was pushing Tia to get on that Damn Plane!!!! Chris was too much of a gentlemen to slap her but I am glad her twin sis did! Yeah! a Must read!
