Broken Billionaire

Rate this book
If sleeping with him was impulsive and becoming his business partner was risky, falling in love with him is totally insane. The billion-dollar company Jason built from scratch has been pulled out from under him by a greedy, knife-in-the-back partner. Broken and reeling, he’s hit the road in search of… what, exactly?Maggie’s barely hanging on by her fingernails. And a corrupt cartel is threatening to take what little she has left. The only things they have in common are paralyzing pasts they’d each like to forget and an enemy that’s out to destroy them both. But the day this perfect, perfect stranger walked into her bookstore, both the risks and the temperature went through the roof. Will their common enemy and their hunger for each other bring them together? Or will the deep-seated fears that haunt them conspire to keep them apart?A scorching hot, contemporary romance for the reader who also likes to think, Broken Billionaire is the breakout, debut novel of Anthony Strong. If you like the novels of TL Swan and Marni Mann, you’re going to fall in love with the sexy, flawed, billionaire hero and the feisty girl-next-door who rescue each other.

Loved this!
The story opens with Jason being ousted from the billion dollar games company he built from scratch and sees him on the open road trying to connect with that soft voice in his head he has always run from in an attempt to find meaning in his life again. A stop at a small town bookstore looking for a map, brings bookstore owner Maggie, into his life and a surprise connection he’s not so eager to walk away from. Little did they know they were fighting the same enemy.
This is a great read. The writing flows making it easy to read and in Jason and Maggie we have two very different, complex characters, with amazing chemistry (leading to some very steamy scenes!). But that’s not even the best of it.
It's a thrilling story of underhanded, dirty deals done in the corporate world. Forget that Jason has money, he was as much a victim of the powerplay made by his former business partner and friend as Maggie and others in similar situations to her.
I loved the solid friends of both and the family values Maggie brings to the story. These secondary characters lend so much to and make the story that much richer for their inclusion.
Tightly plotted with plenty of action this first novel from Anthony Strong made for excellent reading. Looking forward to the next!

1-Second-Summary
He's running away from life. She's trying to figure life all out. A 5-minute interaction in a small town bookstore - changes both their lives...

Review -
Well well well, it that wasn't the sweetest read ever! This one was ever so romantic and wholesome. With the perfect dash of steam, this whirlwind romance totally captured my heart.

Despite being a whirl-wind romance I loved the focus on character growth and development. They took things slow and really built up that romance while helping each other sort out their lives. **ABSOLUTE SWOON-WORTHY**

The steam was more on the dreamy and romantic side which perfectly complemented all the character development and emotional scenes!

The characters were so vivid and realistic, I really enjoyed how their personalities interacted together and how their two worlds combined over the book! The way they worked through each other's baggage, stay committed and maintained their strong communication ~ Totally dreamy!

Literally the perfect little beach read or cosy romance read - you'll be swept by this romance too!

Stay safe and keep on reading,

Ellie

Notes/Opinion (personal thoughts):

A plot connecting a lost billionaire and struggling bookshop owner leads them to attraction to friendship to love. Helping each other to see the faults that keep them tethered to brokenness but ultimately leading them to the path of togetherness.

As a first time author, this was very good. There were little things that will likely change as the author continues on the journey - experience equals improvement, I think. Overall, this was enjoyable. I liked that the focus of the story included something in addition to the attraction between the main characters. The conflicts were not drawn out but not easily solved, either. Neither character was perfect, each had their issues but they accepted those imperfections and found love as well. Well done; I will look for more from this author.

insta love, slow, yet spicy burn

Broken Billionaire is the first book in the Accidental Billionaire series and first book from Anthony Strong. While there are male Romance writers, it can not be denied the vast majority are female. This story is told in Dual POV, however Strong does a great job bringing a unique, inside look from Jason’s (MMC) perspective. Many writers use the male POV to strengthen and validate the female’s own feelings of connection and Jason’s POV does do this, but Strong also gives Jason’s character a more in depth look that really allows him to stand on his own as a book character. Jason isn’t just a ‘book boyfriend’, he’s got more substance.
Maggie and Jason make a good team and have some really sweet moments. Maggie is super relatable, and I wish we could all have friend like Bobby. Bobby is one of those friends that we all love, fun snarky and undeniably supportive. Yes, there are more books planned for these two, but the book has a nice HFN ending, so no need to ‘I’ll wait until the series is complete to read’.

Maggie is thinking of ways to save her failing bookshop and Jason has just been sacked by his board of directors. Re-evaluating his life Jason sets off a journey of wisdom where he cross paths with Maggie in her book store. Meeting Maggie opens options and new beginnings for Jason. And Maggie meets her book boyfriend in the flesh. Can these two see clearly enough to the other side to really make a go of this new adventure? A really good read.

Anthony Strong is an amazing romance writer, the prose just flows. I read this book in one night because I had to find out what happened to Jason and Maggie and it was well worth giving up a couple of hours sleep to do so. It's a lovely story, well written, funny and most of all romantic. Real people with foibles, uncertainties and a thirst to belong to someone despite previous heartbreak. It will make you believe that anything is possible.

I. Loved. It.

First, can we please give some kudos to Anthony Strong for stepping in a predominantly female genre and giving us what we needed! And on a debut album? KUDOS.

Maggie & Jason are addicting. Bobby is the friend we all want & need. Strong takes the time to develop the characters themselves and then dives into how they work with one another so seamlessly. The book is more than just a slow burn, book boyfriend, happily ever after kind of thing. This is a page-turner with ups & downs and all of the in-betweens with the hook we look for when reading books.
