Xavier Garrett's dangerous career as a homicide detective finally prompted Vanessa Garrett to end their marriage. When a murder occurs at the publishing house where Van works, Xav heads the team handling the case. When it's discovered that the killer is targeting the company's executives, Xav goes to great lengths to protect his ex-wife. The situation is far too close for comfort and reminds Vanessa of everything she gave up when she left her sexy ex-husband.

This was a good romance book. The love scenes were good, not too steamy, you had to use a little imagination. Good, strong characters gave the book depth. Vanessa was a publishing exec and Xavier was a police officer. They were very much in love, but Vanessa feared for Xavier's life and divorced him so she would have no parts of his dangerous career. Is it really better to leave the one you love instead of just enjoying the time you have together? When Vanessa's life is threatened 5 years later, Xavier sets out to protect her and solve the case. I recommend this book to romance novel lovers. Many editing errors, but overall a good book.
