WELCOME TO THE END OF THE WORLD!

An apocalyptic zombie thriller with heart and brains as well as guts (lots of guts). The action unfolds at a frantic pace as London is the epicentre of a global plague of death that brings a sudden end to the world as we know it. In a culture where guns are rare, and the dead are almost unstoppable, the chances of survival are slim. When your life expectancy is measured in hours
you make every minute count. How long would you last?

Book 1: DESCENT:

Down Street: a disused London Underground station - ground zero. A secret research facility is using nanotechnology to develop a way to repair brain tissue damaged by Alzheimers Disease. The nanotechnology has an unfortunate side-effect only revealed after a disastrous containment breach. This is the end of the world.

This book was pretty bad. It is totally unoriginal, borrowing heavily from the classics of the zombie genre. The writing style is poor, and the dialogue at times is laughable. I am not a prude and don't have an aversion to swearing; hell, I swear like a sailor and read zombie novels! However, the use of the word f**k 88 times in a book that's only about 150 pages long gives you a sense of the quality of the dialogue.

The characters are given the briefest description and completely lack depth. Even when you do find a character you'd like to root for, they end up dying 20 pages later anyway. I don't know how this series is written as a trilogy when barely any of the characters from the beginning of the book make it til the end. Who am I supposed to be rooting for?

All in all, a complete waste of time.

Descent: A Zombie Apocalypse (Book 1 The Wild Strawberry Trilogy)

You will find yourself wishing each person will survive, and you know they won't , but you can't give up. This THRILLER will be added to your list of zombie survival books. I RECOMMEND ! Enjoy.

I was hooked from the beginning as the story focused in on one man's struggle to survive the first day of the zombie outbreak. It was darkly humorous and intensely horrific. At one point I thought this poor man was in the clear after running forever as he hid behid a backyard fence when all of a sudden his cell phone rings; his wife checking up, rousing the zombies who were on the other side and the chase ensues again. The story moves onto other engaging characters and I wanted them all to survive but the darn zombies are so fast and never give up. I've never read another zombie book where the action was so intense and captured my attention so severely. Book Two was just as thrilling if not more. I'm now waiting for Book Three. I also liked that not every character conveniently had a gun. These are everyday people, and they were not likely to have a gun or know how to use one. Some readers may want more Rambo type characters in their zombie stories but I like that the story reflects that the majority of people can't name every gun and the size of ammo it takes. I know I can't. Also, lots of gore and very descriptive... Great job.

book was a good start to the series. I know the previous reveiw was complaining about the use of the word F^$%, but if I was in the same situation as the characters are I'd be screaming it every other word too. I like that the zombies were difficult to kill. A simple blow to the head just isnt enough, and in a country where guns are extremely rare it makes for some intense reading. I read both book one and two in a single day. They are short, but a great way to pass the time. There could have been more character depth, but as the previous reveiwer stated, most character dont last long.
