(5☆ Would recommend & would read again) I read 2 books out of this series when I was 13 and I remember really liking them. I decided to buy the entire series as an adult and read through the series. As an adult, I still really enjoy this series. Would definitely recommend.
These books are such quick reads, especially the older you are.
I am liking this series even more than before. Why, you might ask?
1. Good vocab words 2. A courageous amateur sleuth who remains calm in a crisis 3. Good Christian values portrayed without being too much 4. While reading these books teens learn without realizing it 5. There are cute boys for young girls to giggle over, but the relationships described are never too involved.
Point number four in this book dealt with family and spousal abuse. It wasn’t heavy, but a few tidbits were added that would maybe help young readers understand these crimes better.
I really couldn’t remember who had kidnapped the kids in this one, and I found myself wrong in the end. The author did a great job in creating a red herring coupe. Growing up in the 90s I did appreciate some of the pop culture referenced in this book, too.
Definitely recommend this series for teens who love mystery reading.
Another great Jennie McGrady mystery. I don't have much to add from my earlier reviews. Except to mention that Jennie does talk about her faith throughout the book, especially in the form of short prayers during her times of confusion or danger. These books would probably be great for Christian teenage girls who want a modern Nancy Drew as their lead character.
This book was very good! I love the Jennie Mcgrady series so much. I love the plot in this one. This is my second time reading this book. I love it just the same. I love the romance with Ryan. My favorite books in this series are the ones with Ryan in it honestly. I really did not want Nick and Hannah to die. I thought all the events were amazing. I love the last scene where she almost dies... again. The scene with the car was really good. The bad guy is kinda who I suspected but then again I have already read it before. I love this book so much and would recommend this series highly if you like mystery!!!!!!!!
Very involved story! Had a hard time putting it down!
In the beginning of this story, Jennie McGrady has just arrived home from the airport. She went thru the house, thinking possibly they were trying to surprise her. She couldn't find anyone home, & she called for her mom & Nick, her brother. She eventually admonished herself for being spooked by an empty house at age 16! She had been disappointed that her mom hadn't picked her up as she returned from her Caribbean cruise with Gram & other members of her family (story in last book of series), but her Aunt Kate had come at her mom's request. She heard Michael, her mom's boyfriend, come in the back door. She would have preferred that dad come back home, but realized her father's statement that you can't have everything the way you want it was true. Her mom was with Michael, & their attitude said there was something wrong. Had something happened to Nick?
