He wrote mystery, action/adventure, science-fiction, crime fiction, suspense, short stories, nonfiction, and was a comic scriptwriter, poet, screenwriter, essayist, and metaphysical scholar. Like reading Pendleton-era Bolans, there is something familiar and comforting about Mike Newtons Executioner work. Some might complain about the repetitiveness of his writing, but reading a Newton-penned Bolan is like slipping on a pair of comfortable slippers - with blood soaked carnage as the footwear.
The mob is dealing in nuclear material as a new organization is forming with connections across the world: the evil sounding Star group. They’ve stolen uranium from one of then crumbling former Soviet-bloc states, and they’ve sold it to the highest bidder: the terrorist group the Scourge of Allah.
Bolan begins his blitz on the streets of Detroit (with a few mentions of my town of birth Windsor, Ontario) and moves to Europe and eventually Algiers on his quest to retrieve the stolen nuke material. Grimaldi joins him, taking much more active role than just pilot by helping the big guy blitz mob hard sites in Italy to find out where the material has gone.
There’s lots of action in this one, though it gets slightly repetitive after the fifth or sixth raid on mob hard sites, then the action moves to Algiers as the two combatants strike against the terrorist group.
A decent read all around.
