Tons of intuitive, enlightening advice for improving everyday life. I wished it was my copy so I could mark it up! As it was, I took 6 pages of notes to refer to.
Pivot is a pretty solid self-help book on attitude and it's importance on it's success. All and all, there are three main objectives in the book: to underline the importance of attitude, to explain how to achieve the right positive attitudes that are integral to well-being, and lastly a "how-to" for maintaining a positive attitude despite the changes and challenges one is likely to endure. Every chapter concludes with exercises that are geared to help one improve their attitude. Though I am appreciative that many studies are referenced, many are somewhat vague and subjective. This is mainly because of obscured premise of what a "good attitude" really is. For one it's hard to scientifically define 'attitude' in its fullest sense. And two, even if you can, it is till hard to isolate the exorbitant amount of crucial variables that will make its way into the equation as well. Attitude stems from belief, and though some of the studies - from what I read them as - seem broad, they seem to qualify as well. Many of the aphorisms are encouraging and true. For example: "The winner sees an answer for every problem. The loser sees a problem in every answer." I have to mention that anything should refer to "god" or religion should be left out. Sadly the author assumes that his readers are religious and believe in a god. It's not overbearing, but its unnerving and makes the author lose credit for in what my eyes should be a completely secular book. Well written and easily digestible are what comes to mind overall.

It's been a while since I read this book, but it basically talks about how having a positive attitude helps any situation in life. The author mainly talks about being positive at work, which in turn will make you more productive. It reads really quickly and didn't take me much time to read it at all. It's a great book for anyone looking to enjoy work and/or life more or someone trying to find a secret of success.
