My Single Mom Life: Stories, Lessons, and a Celebration of Love

Rate this book
The day Angela Thomas sold the only thing she had-the diamond from her engagement ring-to take care of her kids was the day she began to believe they were going to make it. In that decision, the faith she had always talked about became the faith she was going to learn how to live. In the years since, God has given Angela a passionate desire . . . to live an amazing life, even while raising four kids as a single mom. In this book she shares her hard-earned wisdom on loneliness, dating, finances, and parenting, encouraging every solo mom. "As a gift to our children," she says, "we can become healthy moms who are strong and amazing women in spite of our circumstances."

A super easy read...not a literary giant, but truly a sweet book full of helpful, practical advice. She is a good person who has found herself in a bad situation as a single mom. I loved her advice that we all have the "potential" to get ourselves in trouble. We have to stay steadfast and "go to bed early" if we are tempted. So funny! I really related to some of her struggles. It did contain a lot of hope and gave me strength to keep trying one more day.

Wow! I had just started to read this and ended up going with my 2 1/2-yr-old to Emerg. and then a 5-day hospital stay for acute asthma. Angela was a great companion. I recommend this book to any woman, whether a single or married mom. Angela is very transparent and encouraging. It felt like she was with me and I wasn't alone. Can be used as a reference/reminder book too. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need--so true! (Matt 6:33)

A dear friend of mine just surprised me with this book for mother's day. She saw it in the store and thought of me. I am thankful for my friend and her loving heart. This book is full of love, logic, and laughter. It touched my heart.

I expected this book to be much different. It was well organized, without any judgement, but instead bringing hope and a way to refocus.

Angela Thomas is an amazing women, author and Mother. My single mom life is one of the best books I have ever read threw a big challenge. I was going through in life, single mother of 3. I felt I was going through many of the same thoughts, struggles, and the leadership in her words that I believe God lead her to say, “Is amazing.” She is a blessed women.... I hope one day to go to one of her conferences.... I just don't feel as alone when I read her words. I look up to her, and understand everything she has gone through. Angela Thomas Thank You! Please continuing writing.... I hope one day to see you in person Single Moms this is a must read... To be honest I wish everyone single, married, man or women would read this and maybe this would give a person insight on what single moms go through. Thank you again.

The author is "ordinary" (read "basic" in modern parlance) by her own admission. And perhaps that's exactly what makes her story so encouraging. She has ordinary responses to hard life circumstances, just like I do. And she turned to God for protection and provision, and He answered. May I have the same wisdom.

I didn't make it all the way through this the first time... I couldn't make it through the ugly part. I set it down for a while and just recently picked it back up. Made it all the way through it this time.. keeping it handy for a quick reference when needed!

This book met me right were I am. It was a huge encouragement, validated what I was feeling and experiencing, and was a much needed kick-in-the-pants reminder of some things I needed to change or work on!

This book helped me. The author's advice is spot on. I don't know why this author stopped writing books. Too bad.
