A fake "Mr. Jury" is roaming the streets and killing only black people. Someone wants to stir up racial tension and use the vigilante's popularity to their favor. All this exposure gets a reporter who has been on the real Mr. Juries heels fired up. She strikes a deal with him that if he can prove that he's not doing the killings, she won't publish in her paper that he is Mr. Jury. He's got a couple days to prove it.
Really good "Death Wish" style vigilante pulp for your guilty pleasure. Nothing really new here, but it's done with a flair that you get drawn into the thing. You just keep reading and it flows right through. Just wish this series would of went on longer.
Lee Goldberg is a respected and successful author now, but this series was written while he was in college and it showed. He knew nothing about weapons or cars, but they were featured heavily in these books. I bought all 4, but am calling it quits after this one
This is an action-packed book the author had written in the 1980s. This helped launch his career as a television write. Vigilante Brett Macklin, the real Mr. Jury, is hitting the killings in Los Angeles as a sadist, who hungers for victims, stalks the streets. He also calls himself Mr. Jury. Macklin has 70 hours to hunt down the impostor. Time and luck are running out. Full of action, fast moving, enticing, and a little spooky. A very entertaining read.
Book 3 of the series and it continues the trend of over the top, ridiculous revenge action vigilantism. Not that I mind, but I feel I would like it better as a movie or tv show where the testosterone filled theatrics can thrive and be showcased better.
Each book becomes more and more interesting. I think Mack wants to end his Mr. Jury's activities but crime will not let him. Look forward to the next one!
Like junk food you just can’t stop. Fun stuff that stretches the bounds of credibility but enjoyable just the same. You can see the movie playing in your head.
Shaw is kidnapped and will die if Brett doesn't find him. A fake Mr. Jury is going around killing people pretending he is the true Mr. Jury. Brett is determined not to lose another person he cares about.
This series is getting kind of old. I have one more to go. Looking forward to finishing it.
