Night Terrors is packed with thirty one stories of horror guaranteed to chill every bone in your body. After reading these tales by established and upcoming masters of the macabre from around the world, you'll pray for dawn. Contents include: Tomorrow's Headline by Adrian Ludens; Holy is as Holy Does by Pete Mesling; Gravity Hill by Jenna M. Pitman; While Gabriel Slept by Matthew Moore; Twinkle, Twinkle by Jessy Marie Roberts; Little Piggies by G. Winston Hyatt; The Bitter Taste of Rapture by Monique Bos; The Stripper by Stephanie Kincaid; The Elephant in the Marble by Desmond Warzel and many, many more.
Out of the 31 authors in this anthology, I was only familiar with one, Robert Essig. Out of 31 stories there was only one story I felt Meh about. Blood Bound Books' first ever anthology from 2010 was a banger! I'm disappointed that the 30 authors I wasn't familiar with aren't mentioned more. I enjoyed 30 of the stories a lot, but there were definitely some stand outs!
The Rest for the Wicked by Stephen Hill I was never really afraid of flying, but yeah this story may have changed that.
The Hole In The Fence by Craig Saunders Creepy neighbor story that makes me happy I don't talk to my neighbors.
Scent by Joshua Scribner Not anything I was expecting, it's a story of nature getting revenge.
Are You The Fairest? by Piper Morgan A story told from the viewpoint of a mirror. I never would have expected it would break my heart.
Bitter Taste of Rapture by Monique Bos A slow and sensual take on Lilith.
Lunatic Mile by Barry Napier This was the goriest story. A folk horror tale with the most gruesome way of restraining a victim I've ever read.
Rache by Kendra Lisum Another story that broke my heart about a boy missing his dog.
Gravity Hill by Jenna M. Pitman The opening paragraph is one of the most disturbing visual I have ever read.
Only Three Dead Presidents by Robert Essig Who doesn't enjoy a creepy carnival story??
Lovers of horror anthologies will definitely want this on their TBR!
This horror compilation was outstanding. Although I assigned it a four-star rating, some narratives deserved greater depth. Nevertheless, the book is superb. The story that resonated with me the most was Three Dead Presidents by Robert Essig, which convincingly deterred me from attending a midnight carnival.
Night Terrors is a book filled with many spine tingling short stories. The stories are suspenseful, scary and some even sad. They are all sure to keep you sucked in from beginning to the end so you will chill all the way down to the bone.
There are many parts with suspense and horror in the book like in the first story a teenager named kevin hears something from under his bed in the middle of the night. "The thing growled again, a foul, rotten fish-like odor filled the air." (3).
I reccomend this book to 12 year old people and up, because ther are a lot of words on the many pages of the book, and there are some innapropriate parts mainly drug use.
It was a wonderful read and an scary read also. The kind of book where you will want to sit snuggled up in your favorite chair by the fireplace. I am done.
