DNF. I'm almost 200 pgs into this & the thought of returning to it fills me with ambivalence. No doubt I *could* finish, if I pushed myself (because it reads pretty fast), but I just don't GAF. And after 200 pgs I should feel SOMETHING. But I don't.
The characters are flat, flat, flat; there's exposition & description that somehow fails to expose or describe anything of importance; the setting is thinner than a cheap stage set (& almost as flimsy); Things Are Doing Things; occasional 2-pg WTFery fills a rippery quota yet offers no amusement because there are no highs or lows in plot, dialogue, or personality; purple prose sex sails into the stratosphere & disappears without a whiff of caring.
As a final nail in the coffin, it reminds me of Tom Huff/Jennifer Wilde's plodding bricks-o-boredom, particularly in the Incident Quota & lack of highs & lows. It's just flatter than Kansas & life is too short.
