Pauline est revenue. En attendant de trouver un appartement, elle s'est installée chez Tony, comme lorsqu'ils étaient étudiants. Tony raconte à son père que rien n'a changé : il fait toujours semblant de n'être pas amoureux d'elle, et elle ne s'aperçoit de rien. Mais quand Tony part sans prévenir personne, c'est à Pauline que son père va demander de l'aide. Et cette fois, il faudra bien que tout soit dit.

About the author

Laurent Mauvignier was born in Tours (France) in 1967. He graduated from the Beaux-Art (plastic arts) in 1991.

He has published several novels with the Editions de Minuit and his books have been translated in several countries, among them In the Crowd by Faber and Faber (2008). His novels try to map out reality while confronting what cannot be voiced and the limits of what can be said.

His words attempt to articulate absence and sorrow, love and lack; their endeavour is to hold back what sifts through the fingers and through the years.

Je crois avoir déjà utilisé cette expression mais je ne suis pas critique littéraire : ce livre m’a abasourdie.
L’écriture est très particulière mais elle sert le dessein de la narration. On se sent mal voire poisseux. Pauline est belle, elle est la vie. Tony est de tout temps amoureux d’elle.
Très fort!
