Kelsey Nichols has built a fortress around her heart after a bitter divorce, until the sexy "blue-eyed" cowboy and Intelligence Officer Kade Owen walks into her life. Will her resolve be enough to resist the charming cowboy?

Kade Owen, is hot on a trail of a body smuggling syndicate and has his eye on the sexy blonde reporter Kelsey. He will go all out just to win her heart, and he does a darn good job of it too.

This is a great read and has a nice balance of romance, suspense and plenty of heat blended in. 4 big stars!

I almost decided to skip this book because though I liked the first two in the series, I wasn't hooked into the series. And with so many other books to buy and read I debated passing on this one. I'm glad I didn't. I enjoyed this book quite a bit.

Series Note:
Third book in the "Armed and Dangerous" series. This one may be read as a standalone.

Additional Note:
This book/series is a rewrite of the "Wild" series that McCray wrote for Ellora's Cave epublisher years ago. This book was apparently originally the first book in the series, I believe.

Summary:
Reporter Kelsey Nichols is just coming of a bad divorce to a man who treated her badly. As part of her new start, she takes an assignment looking into the situation in border towns where illegal aliens are crossing into. Right from the start, the trip takes an interesting turn.

At the airport, she spies a handsome cowboy who ends up sitting next to her on the plane. Kade Owen, an intelligence agent, is smitten with the beautiful woman. He convinces her to have dinner with him but after that, Kelsey shoots him down. There's no way she's getting involved with a man again.

Avoiding Kade is easier said than done, though, because it turns out that Kade's family ranch is where she set up arrangements to stay while researching her story. And Kade can't believe his luck. It'll give him plenty of time to convince Kelsey to give him a chance.

Review:
This was a pretty simple book, but it was a sweet, enjoyable, quick read. I sped through it in one day and that doesn't happen often for me lately.

I liked the way the story started up...how they meet at the airport, the connect on the plane, then have dinner before Kelsey pushes him away. I had to chuckle when it turns out she'll be staying with Kade's family. Unrealistic, probably, but it was fitting to the story. It was a good set up for the story.

Plus, there's great chemistry between Kade and Kelsey. They set off sparks right from the start. I enjoyed reading about these two getting to know each other and the romance that bloomed. It helps that I liked both characters. Kade is a sweetheart. I don't always like stories with kids in them, but Kade's son was a pip and he fit the story well.

There's also a small bit of suspense plot to the story as Kade is trying to find out who is heading an operation to bring illegal aliens into the country. And when Kelsey gets involved, it gets more dangerous. It's not a very tense plot, just kind of a side bit to add a little oomph to the story. It worked for me.

My one major criticism was that the book really lacked connection to the other books in the series. It felt like a standalone book and not a book that was third in a series.

It was just an enjoyable book all around to read. Sweet romance, great characters, a nice story. It all made the book a great read.

WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language (somewhat moderate), a champagne scene, but nothing else over the top.

I really enjoyed this one. I loved Kade and Mandy. Here is my issue unless I am wrong here. The names of some of the side characters were wrong. Dee seemed like it was Skylar (from Zack's book), Jack was Zack, the dog Apple was Blue and the Dee (Skylar) ranch was the Flying C not the Flying M. Now am I wrong? cause the interviews that Mandy did the characters seemed the same just the wrong names.

Aside from that I really did enjoy the book. Probably would have been my favorite of the three if it weren't for the name issues.

I think I went into this book with expectations that were a little too high. While I wasn't blown over by the previous two books in the series, I did like them. Kade's story fell flat for me, though. Kade was a good hero: tough and capable and sexy, as well as sensitive, loyal and caring. Kelsey was a little too "woe is me" for my liking. Her constant insecurities about her weight and Kade's feelings were annoying and I just didn't like her enough to pull for their happy ever after.

Let me just say, Wow the naughty parts had me squeamish!

Kelsey my girl, she needed to put a lot of worries, and insecurities to the side. And I swear she is so thick in the head, on the very last chapter she needs some sort of validation from Kade asking if he loves her or not—— LIKE HE WASN’T FKN HEAD OVER HEELS AT FRIST SIGHT GIRLLLL——😭😭

And Kade, he is everything that I want in a man and a life time partner

“ Don’t you already know, honey? I’ve loved you from the beginning. I just had to wait until you figured out you loved me, too. “
—— Aahh and here PROOFFF

But we love her for not moving to San Francisco and kicking SATAN (AKA John stevens) in the 🥜.

Blech. Poor romance. It isn't fun or romantic. The male protagonist is a Border agent who takes a shower when he gets home from work to protect him from all the diseases illegal aliens might be carrying such as "HIV, hepatitis, plagues, malaria, typhoid, cholera, TB.." News flash, malaria is carried by mosquitos and typhoid and cholera are found in contaminated water sources. Taking a shower? Not going to protect you against TB....... Just ick.

It took me a long time to get this book in the series, but I am so glad I finally got to read it. I fell in love with Kade. Kelsey had insecurities but she was such a strong woman. They were such a hot couple. Trent was so cute. I recommend this read.

I normally don’t look at reviews of books I’m reviewing while I’m reading or writing my review. But when I was at Amazon gathering info to put this review together, something in a review there caught my eye and I ended up reading most of those posted there. I learned a couple of things by doing some additional research and I questioned another couple of things by the reviewers at Amazon.

A few of those reviewers were ticked at the fact that the books in McCray’s Armed and Dangerous series are rewrites of novels released by a previous small e-pub. T’hey lamented they wished they’d known before they’d pre-ordered the book because they liked the previous version better, along with a couple of other reasons, and, therefore, wouldn’t have wasted their money on this version. I went so far as to do something they failed to do: I took a trip to Ms. McCray’s web site. Lo and behold, right there in black and white and plain English it tells anyone who bothers to look how Kade and its predecessors and successors came about and will come about. No one but themselves to blame for not doing that research and then complaining about it.

Another issue that didn’t affect me as it did these other reviewers is about Trent, Kade’s 10-year-old son. I have to say first, I don’t have children. Maybe that’s why this part of the story didn’t stand out for me. Their gripe is the fact that Trent colors pictures and takes them out for dad and Kelsey to look at. He has a hard time pronouncing a few words and gets help from the grownups. I recently had a visit from my sister, brother-in-law, and my 10-year-old niece, and when she pulled out her latest colorings to show me, that rang a bell and I told them all about this issue. They didn’t see anything wrong with Trent doing these things in the story either. Maybe Trent just likes to color, maybe it’s a precursor to a budding art career. The kid lives in Texas, doesn’t know a thing about “San Francisco” or has never used or heard of “binoculars,” so why not have a tough time hearing and saying the words for the first time?

In other words, these two things worked just fine for me in reading this book. I guess I just don’t get why they would be issues considering everything else that went on in the story - the fact the characters are charming and interesting, the action is fast, the sex is intense, and it’s a fun story. With all of these assets and more on every page, it never crossed my mind Trent colored or couldn’t pronounce certain words. He’s a cute kid and added to the scenes he’s in. I bring this up only because two or three people said exactly the same thing. Sounds fishy to me and that’s why I want to address it all.

Kade is one of those heroes who is just perfect. Yeah, some women may not like that, but I do. Too-good-to-be-true-hero to die for, handsome, gentlemanly, a terrific father, loving son, romantic, sexy, great in bed, and a whole host of other wonderful qualities. Okay, yes, he makes a mistake or two, but that flaw only makes him more appealing. Kelsey is reeling from a recent divorce from a jerk of a husband, so she’s guarding her heart. Meeting a sexy cowboy on the plane to Texas does show her she still has some kind of feeling left inside.

The book is a bit predictable - something I can agree with some of those other reviewers on - and one is these two meeting on the plane and just happens to be headed to the same place where they’ll work on the same issue, though in very different capacities, of immigrants stealing into Texas from Mexico. Another predictable spot is later in the book, after their relationship has progressed, Kade leaves for work with a promise from Kelsey she’ll get out of bed, dressed, and into town where she’ll be safe from smugglers while he chases those bad guys down. Of course, she falls asleep again, putting her behind schedule and into to the hands of the man Kade is hunting. I could see it coming and by that time I liked these characters too much to care.

But the backdrop of the immigration problem into the United States and how officers try to combat it is interesting. There is a twist on who the villain is. It’s nice to watch Kelsey give her trust again and to see Kade understand her confidence problem and do his best to aid her. And I like the relationship between Kade and his son, as well as how much and how quickly Kelsey takes to the boy.

The action is not as fast paced as Luke, the previous book, but it’s enough to keep things moving along. All in all, a good read, especially if you’re not familiar with the previous series this new one stems from.

4th book in series. I think this book should be a stand alone not part of this series. It has nothing to do with the series characters. Its about Kade Owen a border patrol agent and Kelsey Nichols a reporter for a San Francisco newspaper. She meets Kade at the airport as they are leaving for AZ. He notices her sitting waiting for their flight. She also notices him but tries not to show her interest. They end up getting to know a little about each other and he has already fallen for her. She is coming out of an abusive marriage and doesn't want to risk her heart again. When they get back to the ranch he finds out she is the reporter that was coming for 3 weeks to do the story on illegal immigrants. This is their story of falling in love, solving his smuggling case and her getting her report do.

Kade: Armed and Dangerous is the third book in Cheyenne McCray’s series about the U.S. Border patrol along the Mexico-Arizona border. While the books are romantic suspense, they gravitate more heavily to the romance and allow the suspense to be the underlying storyline throughout the entire series.
I won’t lie. I judge a book first by its hero. And Kade Owen is irresistible. Kade is an intelligence agent with the U.S. Border patrol and a single father devoted to his son. He is my kind of alpha hero – strong and confident in taking care of business and his family, charming enough to win any heart he desires but sensitive enough to seek a true companion. And when he does meet the woman he wants, nothing is going to stand in his way.
He first sees Kelsey on his way home to Arizona when he catches her eye in the airport waiting area. He secures a seat next to her on the plane, strikes up conversation and convinces her to have dinner with him when they land. Their chemistry is hot but the author does a good job in pacing the development of a relationship and it made me like Kade even more that they didn’t fall right into bed together despite the scorching first kiss. (I will think of this kiss every time I have a frozen margarita.)
When Kade learns Kelsey is the reporter from the San Francisco-based magazine that will be staying at his family’s ranch for her next assignment, he couldn’t be more pleased to have her right where he wants her - under his roof and closer to his heart. But Kelsey’s heart is guarded, holding in so much pain from a difficult past. She lost her parents and sister in an accident, married an unkind man and has just gone through a painful divorce. She took the assignment to put distance between herself and San Francisco.
Kelsey fits nicely into life on the ranch, befriending Kade’s parents and developing a sweet relationship with Kade’s son. These characters are well-developed secondary characters that give the reader even more perspective on our hero. As Kelsey becomes engrossed in her interviews and story, Kade resumes his investigation and their information begins to overlap. Through it all, he continues to pursue her romantically but realizes she is too skittish to move quickly. He concentrates on developing a friendship without pushing for more. Slowly Kelsey begins to open herself up to Kade, desiring him but still weary since her divorce left her with little trust in men. It was warming to watch their relationship develop as Kelsey became more confident in herself as a woman.
While this book can be read as a stand-alone, it adds depth and more meaning if read as part of the Armed and Dangerous series. I do have to comment though that the editing in this book is the worst of the series. Originally the Wild series with another publisher, names were changed when re-published and those changes didn’t flow into this book. Several characters from other books that tied this together into the series hadn’t had their names changed and it was confusing. For example, when you read “Dee”, think “Sky”.
I recommend reading the book, and the whole Armed and Dangerous series. The story is well developed with endearing characters and an easy flowing plot. Kade will take you in from the first page and hold your attention until the end. And because I also judge a book by its cover (hey, at least I’m honest!), I’d give this book 5 chocolate-dipped strawberries. I’m sure Kade would enjoy those with champagne a la Kelsey! Kelsey Nichols is a journalist for a San Francisco-based magazine, She is flying to Arizona for her next assignment. She is writing an in depth story about the ranchers whos' lands are being used by people to cross over from Mexico. When Kelsey was a small child her family was killed when their small private plane crash landed. Ever since then Kelsey has had a very hard time getting on a airplane. But this trip was made easier with the help of a sexy stranger. He helped take her mind off of her fears and a strong arm to hold on to. She would like to take things further with him but her divorce left her with not much trust in men. Kade Owen is an intelligence agent with the U.S. Border patrol. He is on his way home to Arizona when he catches sight of Kelsey in the waiting area of the airport. He manages to get a seat next to her. Kade is suprised when he gets home and finds out that a reporter will be staying at the ranch. He is even more suprised when he finds out that the reporter it Kelsey. Now Kade has her where he wants her, under his roof,. As Kade courts Kelsey, he is also hunting for the smuggler. Will he win her heart before the danger catches up to them?

This is the third installment of Ms McCray's Armed and Dangerous series. This is a book that is a stand alone book. The story is well written and the characters are appealing. If adventure and romance is what you are looking for, then this book is a must read. This story will grab and hold your attention from for first page till the last.

My Review: A great adventure filled with danger, betrayal, excitement, and romance! Granted it seemed kind of unreasonable that a woman fresh out of an abusive relationship would even put herself in this type of situation, but it was still a great book. I loved Kade, I mean really loved him, if I wasn't married already I would be heading to Arizona to find my own blue-eyed border patrol cowboy! Kelsey was a little wishy washy for me, she was up and down and didn't always stick by her guns, I think she could have been a great character but she just didn't hold up to the rest of the characters in the book. Kade isn't for the faint of heart there are adult scenes, gun fights and death just as a warning.

This book had so many editing mistakes it drove me crazy. Original names from the previous release kept overlapping with new names and there was one full chapter where all the names from the previous names from the original book were used instead of the new names from the re-issues (names from Zack and Luke were changed back to original EC release names). Drove me absolutely crazy and kept confusing me. I will trade this book in and keep all my original EC releases of this series. I will probably read the re-releases of future books from this series with the new publisher but I will keep all my original EC releases even though this author (rightfully) parted way with EC. Still, Mrs. McCray will remain an autobuy author for me and new books will always be a part of my keeper shelves. This is mostly the exact same as the original book "Wild Borders" with the exception of the main characters receiving new names and a few changes. Again, for my own reference, I will keep my print copy of Wild Borders and exchange this book for another. I do understand editing mistakes are not the authors fault and I will not in any way hold those mistakes against the author.

This story is a real favourite of mine, and I was so happy to see it released on kindle. As no matter how many times I read it, I always enjoy it more.

This is also my favourite of the four novels in the Armed and Dangerous series, and although set in Arizona and around the border to Mexico. It does not feature any of the characters from the previous stories.

As this actual story is set around a border patrol agent (Kade) who works in intelligence and a journalist (Kelsey) from San Francisco who arrives in Arizona to work on a feature about the problem of illegal immigrants and how law enforcement and the local ranchers deal with it.

And from the moment Kelsey and Kade meet there are sparks and the more time they spend together the hotter things get and slowly Kelsey falls not only for Kade, but his young son Trent and the rest of the Owen family.

This story also has a great balance between the suspense and the development of the main characters relationship and that's what really draws me in and always has me coming back for more. Therefore I would certainly recommend Kade to others.

Let me start by saying Cheyenne McCray is on my auto-buy list. Now for the review. I was disappointed with this book. I LOVED Zack and Luke. I never read them when they were originally released and shorter versions than the Armed and Dangerous Series. With that being said, Kade, had way too many typos. There was an entire paragraph that repeated from earlier in the book...characters were referred to by their OLD names in the OLD series at times...very confusing. Sorry, but she missed the bar on this one. The son was WAY too immature to be 9 years old...colored with crayons, couldn't pronounce simple words, and sat on his dad's lap. Seriously? No way.

This could have been a GREAT book, but it was just okay for me...considering.

I WILL still buy the next book in the series!!! :-)

The writer created a sexy, interesting character in Kade. I could almost envision this law enforcement man and the world he lived in. Wasn't crazy about the child, who the writer made a bit too young thinking for his stated age of ten and, in my opinion, added nothing to the story other than as a connection between Kade and Kelsey. And speaking of Kelsey, one has to wonder why Kade choose her. Its a mystery but that seems to be the allure of romance story; why pick him/her factor. Kelsey went looking for a story and found love. Personally, I read this book because I was drawn to the cover and drooled over the sections where Kade was strutting his stuff. Beyond that, the story plot deals with smugglers and betrayal (no surprises) and in the end, despite being wounded, Kelsey still wants to have sex with Kade. Can't blame her. The man is well written.

I loved this book from cover to cover. I was pretty sure I had all the bad guys picked out early on, but I have to admit I get surprised by one at the end, which I love when I can't figure it all out. I love the chemistry between Kade and Kelsey and that she didn't just fall at his feet from the beginning, but he had to work hard to get her to open up to him. In my opinion, a good book is one that brings out a myriad of emotions, and that is exactly what this one did. I had adrenaline pumping, and the sex scenes were not only hot but intimate, and the scenes with Trent warmed my heart. I felt myself smiling at times and turning the pages faster to see what happens next. I can't wait to read the next in the Armed & Dangerous series.

This one’s a romantic suspense that is heavy on the ‘getting to know you’ phase of romance and interesting reasons for the suspense. I must say, I was immediately intrigued and taken by the hero of this book -- he has many qualities that make him pretty much irresistible. Kade Owen is an intelligence agent with the U.S. Border patrol and a single father who is devoted to his son. He is the kind of alpha hero who is not only strong and confident but also charming and sensitive; a great combination of character traits. 4.5 star. Another great addition to the Armed and Dangerous series. Kade is a total hottie and so sweet to Kelsey in this book. I could've taken a little more back story with Kade's ex-wife, but it that was not enough to annoy me. Also Kelsey's a-hole father is mentioned several times, his attitude along with her idiot ex-husband almost cause her to not pursue her feelings for Kade. We didn't get a lot of background on either one of them. Again not enough to make me not like the story.

I am really looking forward to the final story.

I love Kade!

Kade is a sweet, sexy cowboy that knows what he wants – Kelsey. Kade knew that Kelsey needed space, but also knew how to get under her skin and push her just enough.

Kelsey is a reporter ready for a change. After a family tragedy and a jerk of an ex-husband Kelsey is not ready for romance, but she just cannot stay away from one sexy blue-eyed cowboy.

This book has a nice family feel that is for adults. There is sex, adventure, family, and friends. It was nice that some past characters made an appearance.

SHE DID IT AGAIN !!

Cheyenne McCray is by far one of my favourite authors. The scenes she creates are so captivating and the stories lines are fun. I did not want to put this book down not even for a second. She has this way of making you get lost in the book, the sensual scenes are so hot it's intimidating. The Series is fantastic and i would recommend it to anyone that just wants a couple of hours to escape.

While I very much enjoyed this book, I kept feeling like I had missed something important, because other than being set in the same area as the first two books in the series, it didn't seem to have anything to do with them.
Even after having read book 4 in the series, I have no idea why this book is included in the series, why it's considered book 3, or what its relationship to the other 3 books is. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone book.

Ugh, I had to force myself to finally finish this book. I think I started it 3 months ago. I think that thing that bothered me the most about this book is that they had a 8 year old boy talking like he was 4. Drove me nuts!! Kade was pretty hot and the story could have been okay. But Kelsey ruined it for me. She was just a cheese bag! On a better note, it has a great cover and they did have some pretty hot sex!!

(Actually book 4)Kelsey Nichols doesn't want any man in her life after finally getting rid of the creep of an ex-husband, so why is she so intrigued by this handsome cowboy and his family....Kade Owen has been a confirmed bachelor for 5 years now mostly because he's never found anyone to interest him like the curvy blonde he's been watching since the airport....this was an amazing story and I completely enjoyed all the dips and turns...you just never know who to trust...,.onto the next

Kelsey Nichols came to Tucson to write an article about illegal immigration. She never dreamed she would find her tall, dark and handsome lover. She noticed the cowboy at the airport and, on the plane, he made the seat next to her his. Kade Owen liked what he saw when he eyed the blonde at the airport. Both were shocked when Kelsey turned out to be the journalist who was staying at the JL Ranch, the ranch where Kade lived.

If I was Mary Murphy I'd be screaming until my throat ruptured maybe even after that..

This book just like the other 'Armed & Dangerous' series was HOT HOT HOT!!! As well as every book that I have read by Cheyenne McCray!!!

I am never going look at a champagne bottle the same ever again!!!

Thank you!!!

I felt this book was easily a 3.5 to 4 star until I hit approx page 256. At that page, even taking into account all the emotional devastation the heroine had been through, not unlike my own (the author must have known my ex-husband personally), it fell to a 2 star for me. Hesitancy and caution is one thing, stupidity is another.
