Guns, girls, hot cars, girls, crazy action and more girls! Gunsmith Cats is so jam-packed with action, it's bursting at the seams, and now the seams are bigger! Continuing Dark Horse's run of fanatastic omnibus editions, the third volume of Gunsmith Cats Revised Edition continues the frantic adventures of our favorite young, female bounty hunters. This time, the volumes formerly known as "Bean Bandit" and "Kidnapped" comprise this 450+ page book.
Nedočteno, zoufale mě to nebavilo.
The art is still solid but the story leaves something to be desired. The kidnapping plot goes on for way too long and I just don’t care about anything going on. Too much of the regrettable “anime perviness” trope as well.
Another chunky omnibus from Kenichi Sonoda, featuring plentiful guns, hot girls, cool cars and a LOT of high-octane action. These two stories both offer the expected incidents and excitement, with the first Bean Bandit story providing what I like about Sonoda’s manga: characters with attitude and a touch of humour; realistic vehicles involved in extended chases; tense gunplay with bonus notable facts; and plots that continuously evolve, raising the risks. As ever, the art is often incredible and the overall storytelling is a nice mix of visual and written content that regularly moves at a rapid pace.
Rally’s bounty hunting license is suspended and gun carrying license… and she can’t run her store. Doesn’t matter she’s still getting into trouble. Bean Bandit is featured in the first story and Rally is mad about what he’s up to. She aims to fix him by challenging him and she’s gotta do it without relying on the police or her usual arsenal. We get additional though brief insight into Rally’s past. Significantly less Minnie May weirdness. This one’s a banger!
It's like eating a bucket of wings. You can't stop until you're done, even if you know it'll be bad for you and you'll end up feeling dirty.
It's got very good art, very poor characterization (I don't know if it's the translation or the original material's fault) and some pretty disturbing ideas about sex.
Another fun read as Rally deals with a suspended license after recovering from being drugged & brainwashed in the last story, just as her old ally/nemesis, Bean, shows up. In the later story, Rally & Minnie find themselves involved in a kidnapping, with things not as they seem. Sonoda delivers another fun story with some of the best gunplay & car chases you'll see in manga. He also expands on the characters a bit, particularly in showing how Rally must deal without her livelihood as a bounty hunter/gun seller, which is a large part of her life. There is a nice comment on sexism as more than a few people in Rally's life suggest she should give it up for good, since those jobs are fit for a woman. Plus, the exploitive nudity if toned down in this book. Overall, probably the best, most action filled book in the series to date.
