If you are in the mood to have your heart ripped open in the best way, and lose many nights of sleep because you have to know what happens, and fall in love with fictional characters once more, then I would tell you to read Forever Alive.

I'm a fan of the Marauders and like their story even more than the Harry Potter one. That's why I read a lot of fanfiction on the subject while I was still in high school, this one included. I think I first read it while it was still being written. Out of all the stories I read, this one stick the most with me. That's why I decided to read it again, after some 10-15 years, after rereading Harry Potter, to pass my quarantine time.

I still think this is an amazing fic and to think that a person still in high school wrote this whole monster of a story is even more amazing. The story includes much of the Harry Potter canon, but it must be taken in account that it was written before the last two books were published, so some facts are a bit off, although the author did take time to include some scenes that were published later (nice touch).

SOME SPOILERS LIE AHEAD!

The writing is different from JK Rowling's: the story is much darker in tone and focuses more on emotions, feelings and thoughts. It starts with the Marauders' first year and ends with Sirius's death. The story becomes progressively darker as the action unfolds. I really loved the characterization; I think all of the characters were described beautifully, on an even deeper level than in HP stories. The last few chapters and the prologue really ripped my heart out, they were that good.

There were a few things I didn't like. I think that the fights were described too much as an American crime series with "hands up in the air, you're under arrest". I think the characters used too little magic, at times it was almost as if I was reading a muggle novel and some things about the Fidelius charm were a bit off, but that could be connected to the fact that some facts weren't revealed until the last two HP books.

SPOILERS OVER.

Anyway... If you want to read a long, thorough, amazing, magical and heart breaking fanfiction about the Marauders Era, this fic is a must. I believe it's like a classic. I highly recommend it.

I really liked this "fanfic" as this was based on the marauders era. The characters of all the four marauders and their friendship were portrayed effectively. Most of the points are according to the minor details given in the HP books regarding marauders but there are 1-2 points which dont corelate with them. There are some places in the book which were not my to my taste but overall this fan fiction is very good
