This was the second time I read this book. It’s been something like 15 years since the previous time. I read this before I really discovered a love for reading, and the story has stayed with me.
It’s fantasy with a lot of Swedish folklore in it, which I loved then and enjoyed now too. Oliver and Terry discover that there’s an entrance to a hidden land in the scrap yard. They follow a girl and a gnome (tomte) inside and set out on an adventure to help them find the girl’s brother who were stolen by trolls.
As an adult it’s a bit tricky rating a children’s story, at least I think so. As I child I would have rated it higher, but for me now, the story and writing is on the simple side and retract from my enjoyment of it. Still, I’ll get right on reading the second book in this series.
