In the book Whiteout, by Walter Sorrells, sixteen year old Chastity has been running from a killer all her life with her mom. Chastity has lived in twenty different towns, and has had twenty different names ever since her father was killed by the killer; Kyle Van Epps. Chastity is tired of moving to a different place every time something happens that may relate to Kyle Van Epps, so when they come to the killers old home town; Greensville, Minnesota, there is something about it that makes Chastity really want to stay. The only problem is that Chastity’s music teacher of Greensville High School has been murdered. Once Chastity’s mom finds out about the mysterious murder, she is ready to pack up and leave Greensville. In order to stay in the town, Chastity must solve the murder mystery, and prove to her mom that the town is safe so far. The theme of this book is that if you really want to make a difference, and you work hard to reach your goal, it will result in success in the end, just as Chastity kept fighting for clues to solve the crime throughout the book. This book was worth reading because of the important lesson it taught the reader, and because it used a range ofdescriptive vocabulary.
