This book was fun. I made some of the cake balls for my book club and they were a big hit. They are really very tasty and pretty easy, but they look like something you would find at a bakery.
I like cookbooks like this one with color pictures and step by step instructions. Additionally, the spiral type of binding is great because it will lay flat on the counter when you are trying to read it and bake at the same time.

Bakerella needs no introduction I'm sure. Her adorable cake pops have taken the crafty baking community by storm.
If you haven't heard of her or Cake Pops yet, Cake Pops are very cute cake on a lollipop stick. She forms cake into animals, miniature cupcakes and all sorts of other cute things, and dips them in candy coating. Darling mouthfuls of cake that are sure to be impressive for parties and bake sales.
This book has the basic technique for making them using boxed cake mixed and jars of frosting. The ease of the basic technique will just astound and delight busy people. The craftiness to decorate them makes them a great project.
You honestly need no special skills to make these wonderful creations. You don't need to know the difference between tips for a pastry bag, and you don't need to be able to make a perfect cake from scratch. The supplies are all fairly easy to find and affordable.
This book has over 40 cake pop designs that will suit every occasion. Little sports inspired ball cakes for the sports enthusiast in your family to little skull pops for Halloween, the ideas in this book can keep you busy for a long time and inspire more ideas. You'll look at canape cutters and candy differently imagining what you can make using them.
One of my favorites is the clown pops which use burnt peanuts in a very clever way for hair.
Spiral bound so it lies flat when open, this is a fantastic book to share with a teen or pre-teen. My daughter was even more enthused than I was by it.
I expect Dalek and Tardis cake pops in our future.

Love this cookbook!!! The projects look like they have a varying difficulty from roll and dip basic cake balls to then on to cup cake pops, exciting animals, and even holiday themed pops. Everything you need to make each pop is listed at the start of the project and it's all super easy to find at most grocery and definitely at any craft or cake decorating store. Read the whole thing and browsed threw the projects while baking my first cake to crumble. Best part it wants you to use boxed cake and packaged icing. I am so excited to get started on my first cake balls! I will say some of the projects look more advanced and take things like edible pens, mini cook cutters, and various candies but the suggested brands are listed with websites to order from. Super simple and they taste delicious.

This is a toughie to review because the pictures are amazing, and Bakerella has really elevated weird little balls of cake on a stick into art forms. I would recommend this book for it's creative element - there really are some wonderful cake pops. The book is easy to read, well laid out and clear but the problem is the book doesn't really offer much in the way of original recipes, and once you've learned the basics of cake pops you really only need the book for a creative launching point rather than technical information and troubleshooting.

I would suggest you either get this from the library or just you tube it - there are a lot of great videos that provide more info than the book

I've followed Bakerella online for just over a year, and tried many of her recipes, ALL of which I've loved. I was SO excited to finally get the Cake Pops book, and ever since I've been reading it constantly, pouring over the designs and ideas. It's the kind of recipe book that makes me want to crank up the oven immediately, and start baking tonight.

The cake pops they show are adorable, and they taste really good!
The only warning I would give to those who are going to use this book, practice ALOT before you bring any to parties or for judging. They are hard little buggers. The second piece of advice I would give is to use very stiff frosting. and chill them really well-even freeze- before coating in the candy/chocolate melts. Lastly I would say, if you are going to use chocolate: 1) make sure you temper it correctly, and 2) use semisweet chocolate, NOT BAKING CHOCOLATE!!! That is very important if you want sweet and not bitter cake pops.

I would recommend this to anyone who:
likes to decorate small things, is very patient, has a lot of time, has a lot of room, has somewhere to put all the finished cake pops. Overall, they need to like sweet stuff, because that is all this book is. Sweet, sweet, delicious cake, crumbled into a million tiny pieces and glued back together with frosting then covered in candy and chocolate.

Doesn't that sound like the best thing ever?!

Absolutely amazing ideas for cake pops. I picked this one up several years ago because I bring things to pot lucks and also thought these might be fun to make for my niece and nephew, but I never seem to make them. I have a friend who owns a coffee shop who has started making cake pops for the shop, so I am passing this lovely book along to her for inspiration.

Super cute book with a lot of great ideas and tips. We attempted the Easter Egg ones. I realized that I much rather just pay someone to make them for me. Way too time consuming for my life.

Lots of tasty little treats are here that are guaranteed to appeal to your child or the child in us all, all built around a common base but decorated highly to look individualistic and unique.

This is not scratch cookery but a pragmatic approach by the author to use where possible ready-made mixes (or similar) to get to a firm foundation, allowing you spend your time creatively decorating your little treats.

From instructions to how one makes the basic cake pop (think a ball on a stick) you are then shown how to transform the ball to great effect to things that you did not imagine you could do. Even the stick is optional!

Cupckes, pandas, dogs, sweet hearts, flowers and Easter baskets are just a few of the many different projects you can undertake and, of course, you may adapt these recipes and use your experience to create even more wonderful things. Want a pig…? Well it is only a small transformation and change here and there from a dog's head and voila.. your own pink pig.

Extensive step-by step instructions are given to make each individual project from its base foundation to the finished article, so as long as you can follow the instructions you will succeed. Each project looks professional as if you have been a master cake maker for years on end and these can make ideal little gifts, donations for fundraisers or just something different for your own table.

The book is cleanly laid out, spiral bound and internationalised so you don't have to fear about using a specific ingredient that is only available in one market. Some brand substitutions and searching may be necessary or, of course, let your imagination fill the gap. You will not be disappointed. One niggle was the glossy paper, as this seemed slippery to the touch, but if that is the only thing one has to complain about you shouldn't be too concerned.

Some of the recipes will take a bit of time and patience to get the right visual appearance, but a work of art is not always a quick thing and the end result will be worth the investment in time and trouble. If you are a shy person who does not like positive, overwhelming feedback, you may not like what follows when you show your creations! Prepare to wow and reap the heat of praise.

Cake Pops, written by Angie Dudley and published by Chronicle Books. ISBN 978-0-8118-7637-7, 160 pages. Typical price: GBP15.99.

I took this book out from the library with a bunch of other baking books. I really liked this one for three reasons:

1.) These are some cute cake pops that may take a bit of time with some more difficult than others. There are some simple cake pops with some more complicated ones that require some molding of the cake which can that can take a while but are worth it in the end.

2.) These are some really unique cake pops that I have tried to find before but couldn't until I found this book. There are some popcorn cake pops, cupcake shaped, ladybugs, apples, and more!

3.) The book teaches how to make the cake pops and certain strategies and techniques to help you learn how to better make the cake pops.

I had only one problem:

Some of the supplies needed to make the cake pops were pretty difficult to find in an ordinary store. I mean, I was still able to find them but it took a little while to find them. One example was the edible ink pen. Again, I could find them but wasn't at my ordinary grocery store.

I would recommend that if you want to make a recipe that uses the edible ink but you aren't able to find it, I would use colored candy melts or frosting with a toothpick to easily apply the fine lines. Hopefully this could be helpful!

Anyway, this book is completely worth giving a whirl and there are many things to try. Happy Reading and Happy Baking!

This book, by Bakerella (also an online blogger) is a great resource and explains very delicately how to make cake pops, which has become a type of baking trend. This is a cook book with different recipes for making cake pops, and in addition, different techniques for baking cake pops. I think this book is amazing because while it's very interesting to read, it helps so much when making cake pops (which I did using the book).

This is no ordinary baking book, because it specializes in cake pops. If you don't know what a cake pop is, it's basically cake in the form of a ball, on a lollipop type stick. In this book, it shows how to make different designs of the cake pops. (Ex: snowmen, cats, dogs, chicks, popcorn, ect...) To make these specific designs, you use all kinds of candy. Bakerella takes this concept to a whole other level and include recipes, techniques, materials, websites, and other references that all contribute to the making of cake pops in one book.

I feel that this book is so good because it is extremely entertaining, but also contributes to the actual baking. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes visual, detailed cook books and baking.

Oh my gosh I LOVE this book! A friend told me about Bakerella's blog(bakerella.com) so I checked it out. And totally loved it. Soon I was following her blog and devouring every word she posted. When she told her devoted readers about the book I squealed and quickly opened another page and went to the Barnes & Noble website to order the book. Imagine my dismay when I read that the book was not available until September! Nevertheless, I went ahead and ordered it. That was in July. I counted off the days until my copy would arrive. When it did, I screamed with delight and proclaimed to the world how happy I was. That Friday, I arranged with my friends to have a sort of baking party. We made owl-shaped cake pops and they were adorable! My friends had never heard of Bakerella but they both liked making the cake pops. Now they like Bakerella. Overall, I would say that this book is wonderful and so is Bakerella.

I love desert I love chocolate, cakes, puddings, ice cream cakes, pies and cookies. I am always opened to try anything sweet. So when I tried my first cake pop I fell in love. I was determined to make these delectable treats. Then I received this book from Bookbub.com. I devoured it it takes some practice but I know that I will master these cake pops. I love the simplicity of this book the pictures, and instructions are fantastic. I finally was able to make some cake pops for work to celebrate the birth of my grandson. All I can say they were a hit. My co-workers thought I bought them I took that as a complement. I recommend that you pick up a copy of this book and see for yourself how easy but yet so pretty this desert can be.

I had made cake pops before, but this book gives you some great ideas for parties. A Christmas Tree Pop for a Christmas Party, or a pirate pop for a kids party. The list goes on and on.

The only problem I had when making the cake pops was they were too sweet. Oh yes I am a Sugar Addict. Yet, I thought they were waaayyy too sugary. Next time, I think I will be using the reduced sugar cake mix and icing.

If you are making them for your kids...send them to someone else's house after they eat these. Is your child affected by sugar? Do they seem like an energizer bunny when eating sugar, then use the reduced sugar everything.

You know how Bento takes school lunches to a whole new level? Well, this is the Bento of the cupcake world. The ideas are absolutely adorable and I want to make every single one of them. But, like Bento, I look at them and think, "Wow. That is a LOT of time." Will I make them? Some. For events that are really, really important to me. Will I make these for an after school snack? Nope. However, I am happy to say that the level of work necessary is actually less than I expected, which is a relief. I have my candy ready and we'll see how the pops turn out at my daughter's birthday party.

After Ms. Dudley had been on the Today show with Kathie Lee and Hoda, I just knew that I had to see this book. The whole idea is surprisingly simple and even a novice cook should be able to make these delightful treats for a party, a bake sale or as gifts.

The three designs that really caught my eye were the cupcake, "ice cream cone" (just too cute!) and the bride and groom pops (great idea for wedding or bridal shower favors).

Love this! I've followed Bakerella's blog for years and had been making cake pops on my own for awhile before finally getting this book. I think Cake Pops is an excellent source for both beginners and seasoned "cake poppers." I've used designs from the book and have also taken ideas from the book's tips to help me come up with new designs of my own. Even if you don't want to actually make cake pops, this book is just plain fun to flip through and look at the pictures!

Great book! It takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it the real fun begins. The instructions are nice and clear, and the photos are just adorable.

So far I've made cake pops for several gift baskets (Mother's Day, a baby shower, a wedding shower, and a b-day). Everyone loved them, they're easy to store, and you can make some of them ahead of time. Great book! I highly recommend.

An AMAZING book! Whether a beginner or a novice to the wonderful world of Cake Pops, this book is just superb. Easy to follow instructions and lots of beautiful pictures to capture ones imagination and taste buds!
Loads of top tips and step by step illustrated instructions too as well as lists of suppliers and manufacturers of where to source products. A firm favourite baking book of our families now which we refer to and make from time and time again.

Cake pops were introduced to me during Teen Time at a library I used to go to. I fell in love with them! For Christmas, my mom got me and my sister a cake pop maker (Even though I think doing everything without the special tools is better, I was still extremely excited!). For my birthday 3 months later, she gifted me this book on my Kindle. I started reading it right away. The tips and recipes in it were AMAZING! I can't wait to start putting this book to use!

This book had many interesting designs to choose from, but all the so-called recipes were based on a single type of white cake. In fact, the book suggested using a cake mix rather than making cake from scratch for several recipes. There were some decent tips on how to decorate the pops, as well as some creative ideas, but I believe that I could have found that level of information (and more) through a quick Internet search.

Cake Pops by Angie Dudley (aka Bakerella) is a very fun and colourful cookbook. The first time I saw a Cake Pop, I thought they'd be difficult to make but super fun. I was completely wrong. This book gives a detailed, step-by-step process to the art of cake pops. I am completely inspired now and can't wait to start baking for Halloween!

Very helpful for the basics of making cake pops and balls. I particularly liked the step by step photos for dipping cake pops. It will be awhile before I attempt more complicated designs, but I love how creative Bakerella is with using sprinkles and candy coating, and use this book as a source of inspiration for future baking projects.
