The War of the Galdorfyr
Evelia and her sister Tatha, princesses of the desert kingdom of Penmwar, have inherited a gift - the galdorfýr - which has not been seen since the creation of the world. Summoned by the High King Kunic, they travel to his forest kingdom of Stothwaite to learn more about their mysterious abilities.
After learning they have the power to control entire armies, the sorcerer Seiðr launches an attack on the kingdom of Stothwaite to capture the sisters and obtain the galdorfýr's power for his war against Kunic. As the girls flee the city, Tatha is rescued by Guiscard, one of the seven stewards, who journeys with her to the Tree of Fýr. Evelia, however, is captured by Seiðr's general, his son Beorhtric, to prepare her as a powerful weapon in the coming war.
