Brilliant beauty Laura Caldwell and her new husband, detective James Carter, try to begin a peaceful new life in a Cayman Islands paradise, free from the enemies of the past. It's a beautiful dream--but for this passionate pair, can it ever come true...? From avenging her father's death to bringing down Philadelphia's most corrupt families, gutsy financial genius Laura Caldwell has finally found the calm after the storm. Ensconced in a luxurious island villa, and recovered from disasters both natural and criminal, newlyweds Laura and James have retired from the business of ridding the world--and their lives--of violence and deceit. With their enemies either behind bars or dead, and Laura's bank account in the millions, their life is now filled with love, family, leisure--and the unsettling feeling that serious trouble is never far behind. Maybe it's just paranoia, a habit of staying one step ahead of danger. But when they get a tip about a brutal killing back home in Philly, their worst fears are confirmed--and their heaven on earth quickly becomes a hell. For all their enemies have left is revenge--something no one knows more about than Laura. Now the couple will have to figure out who has the resources--and the guts--to come after them. But will it mean leaving paradise? And can they come out alive?

I liked the book. I loved the romance between Laura and her husband James. But it wasn't my favorite and I all most DNF but I carried though and I end of liking it but I probably won't read it again but not sure.
In the third book of the The Trust Series, Laura Caldwell and James Carter are back, and once again in the middle of scandalous business plots that lead to body bags and toe tags. Now married, the couple and their family are just trying to keep their heads low and enjoy living in seclusion in the Grand Cayman. But when old acquaintances are murdered, the family realizes that it’s time to come out of hiding and deal with lingering vendettas before they end up dead as well.
Like the two previous book, this book is a stand-alone title; however if the reader has not read all of the books, he/she is likely to be lost and confused. Even having read the second book (Blind Trust), I was still confused by the various twists and all of the players involved. All four books in the series should probably be read in order and immediately following one another for the reader to fully comprehend. I read Blind Trust (book #2) months ago and therefore had forgotten all the details that were pertinent to the third book (Betrayal of the Trust). Like Blind Trust, Betrayal of the Trust started slowly, but by mid-book was engaging and suspenseful. Although the series is well-written, the concept being somewhat of a conspiracy theory, political suspense, and murder mystery thrown together in one book made the story a bit overwhelming to follow.
LA Banks has done it again with this third installment of her Trust series. Just when you thought Laura and her team gets a breather, here comes trouble bubbling to the top yet again. The novel's very suspenseful and a must read!
