Richard Lawrence Hunter is an Australian classical scholar. From 2001 to 2021, he was the 37th Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Cambridge.

Concise and excellent introduction with the sensitivity of a scholar of classical literature. Great introductory chapter, followed by a summary and discussion of the main contents of the work, and concluded with a sketch of the reception and appropriation of Plato's masterpiece in subsequent Western thought and literature.

This is a shortened version, and I sped through it. Very interesting and has a modern feel to it

A bit difficult to follow but has some nice interpretations of the Symposium and ample further reading material.
