I read this book a lot as a pre-K-er, such that reading it now I still remembered all the illustrations (and I don't have a visual memory)! The poems (songs?) are really not good, but I read them aloud so so much before I had access to CD lyric booklets or, like, the internet. The short stories hold up pretty well and have solid morals: be kind, don't be vain, it's okay if you're different, you can find ways to accommodate your disabilities, etc. There's also a line about Flounder wondering what birds want with fish (he gets scooped up by a pelican, very exciting day for him) and he'd have to ask Sebastian about that later, and I had no idea as a kiddo that what birds want with fish was to eat them!!!!!! So that was a revelation. Anyway, this was a cute series. And I was into it before Taylor Swift made it cool! :P
