The faster the world moves, the more important it becomes to slow down and look within for what makes us truly happy. If you measure success by the quality of your life rather than just by material achievements, then the timeless wisdom of this book will speak directly to your heart and soul. For more than fifty years, this classic inspirational guide has helped hundreds of thousands of people to move through obstacles and invite all-round success fully into their lives. Filled with sensible down-to-earth wisdom, The Law of Success explores the spiritual sources of creativity, positive thinking, and dynamic will, as well as the success-producing power of self-analysis and meditation. It shows how each one of us can naturally attract happiness an harmony.
Paramahansa Yogananda (Bengali: পরমহংস যোগানন্দ Pôromohôngsho Joganondo, Sanskrit: परमहंस योगानंद Paramahaṃsa Yogānaṃda), born Mukunda Lal Ghosh (Bengali: মুকুন্দ লাল ঘোষ Mukundo Lal Ghosh), was an Indian yogi and guru who introduced many westerners to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his book, Autobiography of a Yogi.
Towards the closing chapters, YP sums up this little gem of a book with this -
"I have mentioned several important attributes of success - Positive thoughts, Dynamic Will, Self Analysis, Initiative, and self-control. Many popular books stress one or more of these, but fail to give credit to the Divine Power behind them. Attunement with the divine will is the most important factor in attracting success."
Exactly!! And how do you align your will with the divine will? Meditation. It's a tool, of course.
But YP doesn't go around to Meditation, its importance and the technique up until the last chapter of this bundle of his wisdom.
He starts off with talking about Life from a yogi perspective. Life is not some problem to be solved or a meaningless tad work consists of endless cycles, Life is nothing but a MYSTERY, a mystery to be lived, moment by moment, and one moment at a time. It's a labrynth of endless possibilities powered by our decisions and energy. And Opportunities in life come by creation not by chance emphasizes YP.
The book is basically divided into small chapters. The following is an attempt to consolidate key notes from each chapter.
Power of Thought A thought in our mind has the power to manifest and grow to its fullest in reality. This thought can be manifested in the real world with the help of life energy if not, it remains just a wish without energy put to it.
It's when Will power comes into picture. Will is of two types. Mechanical Will and Conscious Will, of which the latter one is important as one is expected to use will power and continuous activity in order to be successful. In other words, to be able to do a thing single-handedly, to master one thing at time, without distractions or not leaving it in the middle for the new venture.
Human will and Divine Will: A connection. Will means: "I act until I get my wish." And a wish is desire without energy. The Human Brain is a storehouse of life energy, that is our source from which we draw, and It is abundant. YP asks to start with small accomplishments then move on to greater tasks. He discusses the importance of failure and its role in being successful. (We can draw lessons from it so that we don't repeat the same mistakes again.)
What is Success anyway? You ask. In this small chapter YP clarifies, the definition of success changes from person to person with happiness being its measure. Meaning, What you wanted to do, and did you succeed in doing it or not defines your success and failure.
And during those closing chapters he mentions about role/Power of Meditation in all of this and how divine will works, which I believe the "beauty of the whole book."
YP is simple, YP is to the point; a no nonsense Yogi who offers rich insights about most common questions we have as seekers, I am looking forward to dig more of his insights/understanding about some of my favourite questions like Fear, Love, Creativity etc.,
Recommended only if you understand what is Meditation and if you had reaped any of its fruits in the past.
I think 99 times and I find nothing. I stop thinking, swim in silence, and the truth comes to me. ~Albert Einstein
I have been reading this book for years. If you need to feel communion with GOD and are ever lost, whether in life, in GOD, with friends, or whatever, this booko really helps put things in perspective.
The Law Of Success is a great book. It talks chiefly of two things. Constructive habits of thought, and the power of God behind one's own will. It should make many people angry as it tells you how powerful the human mind is. With right habits of thought, the magnetic nature of the mind brings favourable conditions and circumstances; and with bad, negative thinking bad things come into your life. The book does imply that prayer is essential and supersedes all these things. If you access the Divine Will, then you will succeed. Where I think this book will be misunderstood is in Yogananda ji asking you to reduce your material wants and to focus on spiritual aims. People do not like this in general. My view is that this will happen naturally as you progress in spirit. So do not worry about this - keep meditating.
Amazing simple precepts for ultimate success. This book has guided me most of my life, .
Amazing simple precepts for ultimate success. This book has guided me most of my life, from college onwards. It was in my pocket during most important or challenging events. Concise and powerful.
The law of success by paramahamsa Yogananda is the shortest book I've ever read. Only 36 pages book. But it is power packed. It contains a lot of good points and knowledge. A very good book I say. A must read one for those who wants to become successful in life.
This book is by Paramahansa Yogananda who is the author of "Autobiography of Yogi". Very simple and short book, that explains about Self-analysis, diagnosing failures, habits controlling life, the importance of meditation and happiness.
"When wealth is lost, you have lost a little; when health is lost, you have lost something of more consequence; but when peace of mind is lost, you have lost the highest treasure" "It is better to die struggling than to abandon your efforts while there is still a possibility of accomplishing something more; for even when death comes, your struggles must soon be renewed in another life" - Paramahansa Yogananda
Really very inspiring book in a very beautiful format, it starts with "Faster the world moves, the more important it becomes to slow down and look within for what makes us truly happy."
The great mystic never fails to amuse me. Every piece of his works takes me a little closer to myself and the divine. This small book did the small. An amazingly powerful and surprisingly short read. the sage delivers a great number of secrets in just twenty-seven pages. and the affirmations are so so powerful you can feel the power of reciting them. Highly recommended for everyone.
A wonderful booklet on how to live purposefully and achieve spiritual and material success. The tenets of correct living so succinctly covered in so few words.
Embrace the teachings here to bring powerful insights into your life. I am now resolved more than ever to align my will, intention and actions to divine order.
An inspiring book with strong impulses around meditation, mental discipline, and willpower. I particularly enjoyed the idea that consistent thinking and inner focus can create real change. At the same time, much of the content was not entirely new to me, and the strong insistence that one must believe in God in order to apply these principles felt limiting. Inspiration, yes – dogma, no. Still, a worthwhile read for anyone interested in inner strength, mental alignment, and spiritual practice.

This Book Is A Small Yet Powerful Book That Calls Us To Look Inside For All Sorts Of Accomplishments. This Book Seriously Taught Me To Never Take Failure As A Bad Thing Because Failure Is The Path Towards Success. You Fail Many Times But Never Stop Yourself. Keep Working Hard On That Road And You Will Attain Success. The Self-Realization Spiritual Teachings Of Indian Guru Paramahansa Yogananda Lives On Through Success Principles Derived From Meditation. Be Aware That You Create Your Own Opportunities.
It’s actually a pamphlet, not a book, and is the equivalent length of a decent blog post. It essentially summarizes what Florence scovel shin writes about in The Game of Life. It does not go into great depth on any one topic, and some of the phrasing could be improved to make it more readable. Not worth the price of an avg book.
