This is a pretty decent overview of biblical, world, and American history for a younger elementary audience (the publisher suggests First Grade). Obviously, much is skipped over and lots of things are highly simplified. The book is written from a conservative and a patriotic perspective.

There is at least one mistake: on a timeline it lists Jesus’ birth as taking place in A.D. 0. The problem is that there is no year 0! Jesus was actually born sometime in 6-4 B.C. Such an error makes me wonder what other mistakes are present in these pages, but I don’t recall spotting any other ones.

I read this aloud to my two oldest kids over the course of several months. Each child also had an accompanying coloring book made by the publisher and they enjoyed coloring after each lesson. At the end of each chapter are review questions and suggested supplemental activities.
