Understanding the Dreams You Dream: Biblical Keys for Hearing God’s Voice in the Night not only provides insight into your dreams and life, but also includes a comprehensive dictionary of dream symbols!
You will be guided through the complex world of dreams by a minister with decades of experience receiving, understanding, and interpreting dreams of his own and for others.
I have received many helpful messages from God through dreams. In addition to being helped through my own dreams, I have seen many other people obtain help and comfort by using their dreams as an aid to healing in pastoral counseling. –Ira Milligan
Through Scripture-based meditation, much can be understood about your dreams, but many Christians don’t know how to meditate. This problem is addressed in three different ways:
• Specific, detailed directions are given on how and upon what to meditate. • Personal examples of dreams from the author’s own experiences. • Practical dictionary of symbol definitions is included.
This book presents both normal and not-so-normal dream situations. You will learn that to apply only one type of dream interpretation to all dreams is restricting each symbol to only one possible definition, which is incorrect. And you will learn how to tell the difference between a dream from God—and those from evil sources.
Ira Milligan is a best selling Christian author. He has served in active ministry for 50 years, traveling the country and the world several times over. Ira has taught classes on counseling as a guest lecturer at Oral Roberts University. He is widely sought for conferences and interviews as he travels, bringing a distinctive teaching style and unique wisdom and knowledge of the Bible not often seen.
Since I am a dreamer and see visions since a young child, I desired to read a book on biblical interpretation and seer of dreams. In the first few sections of the book explains different dreams and Biblical sound doctrine for further explanation. The last part of the book gives definitions of variations of dreams. This is a good resource for seers. However, I always turn to the Holy Spirit, not necessarily dream books for explanations as a dream interpreter. This is just a good resource for others who are curious or just want to know.
Torn on how to even review this book because of my caution towards “symbol dictionaries,” but this book in particular had scripture backing up each of the symbols it presented. However, there is just so much danger imo in becoming reliant on a book like this rather than seeking interpretation from the Holy Spirit. But I will say this book led me to read my Bible with more attuned eyes/ears, because God just does speak in parables sometimes- especially in dreams!
Of course, you always want to pray first and ask Holy Spirit for His understanding. The bible, a concordance, and this book are the tangible books that I go to for dream understanding.
This book is Scriptural, sound, very practical, and trustworthy. It's a good book to have in your library when seeking to understand clarity for dreams as well as just the symbols you see in your every day visions. It offers understanding.
Another good book for understanding symbols and imagery is Kevin J. Conner's book : Interpreting the Symbols and Types (ISBN-9780914936510).
This is an excellent resource that every Christian needs on their shelf. I know that dream interpretation is not accepted by the church as a whole yet, but I feel that God is moving to change that. This book teaches the proper way to press into the Holy Spirit for the interpretation and gives the reader a huge dictionary of prayer language to start with. I take mine everywhere with me. I have even added my own new items to the spaces on the pages and the covers. God speaks to people in dreams and this book is the best I have found for helping people understand those dreams.
I learned some key points to understanding dreams. It can be such an insight to life and God's plan for us, but is a skill/gift to be developed. This author has some interesting experiences and his scriptural references are worth reading. It was lacking, however, in substance.
